That was a WW2 pillbox bunker built to protect lady bridge, There's another one on the far side of the bridge hidden behind the foliage. It was part of stop line 5 intended to slow down any inland attacks
Brilliant. Enjoyed detailed information given. Guest presenter excellent, look forward to his imput in another video. Shy follower obviously liked the tour as well, next time, don’t hide , get involved 😉
Thanks Gina for your comment, hopefully you enjoyed the history of the area, it was certainly a joy for us to share it. I think you would agree Sam is a real star on camera... stay tuned for more vlogs coming soon :)
Another great video and full of interesting facts and information. I look forward to the next video, as always. Great with the guest presenter and seeing more wonderful places to explore. I feel a visit to Tamworth Castle coming on at some point.
Fantastic video gentleman👍🏼 Would love to see a part 2 of Tamworth if there’s anymore historic areas within the town that you and Sam could think of. Thank you for the informative video!
Thanks JB4. Really appreciate your comment. I have asked Sam for us to do another vlog together. Hopefully he will slot me in and we can make it happen 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks very much for your kind comment, 100 subs I cant believe it. Glad you liked the Video. I have lots of really good feedback especially about Sam. Will have to get another walk planned in with him if he can fit me in :)
Hi Steven, I was amazed at the history of the area. Just waiting for another invite from Sam, and hopefully we will be filming again soon. If you have any suggestions for a location near Tamworth please let us know :)
Hi Gary. I was browsing TH-cam and it showed your video as a suggestion. Walking In Tamworth I thought, whats that all about. So Ive watched it. I have lived in Tamworth for almost 20 years (moved here in Jan 2003). Having seen your fantastic video Ive just learned more in 20mins about Tamworth than I have in the last 20 years Ive been here! I was aware of Sir Robert Peel but thats about it. So thank you to you & Sam so much for featuring my home town of Tamworth in one of your videos. It was such an education about its history. Well put together showing some wonderful shots and views of the town and rivers and brilliantly presented along with your local co presenter & guide Sam. I'll subscribe to your channel to see what else you've got going on and will click the thumbs up too. Cheers Gary. 👍.
Hi Miles. Thank you for such a positive and kind message. We loved doing the video. All thanks to Sam for inviting me. We are already planning our next one, just hold on tight, hopefully we will have another one soon. The surrounding area has so many interesting places. Just waiting to pin Sam down, as i am sure you would agree he was excellent in the video :)
Hi Samantha. Glad you like the video. It has a had a really good response. Sam and me are already planning another video in another local area. Just hang in there and hopefully we will have something new soon :)
Well done Gavin. And hello Sam. Both of you made a really excellent video. I had the completely wrong idea about what Tamworth is like. I imagined it like the east end of London. Boy was I wrong. Really excellent shots along the river. And although I’d heard of King Offa, I’d never heard of the lady Editha. Really good video, Gavin. They’re getting better with every one. I thought I spotted a reference to the Staffordshire hoard that was found nearby. Wow. Oh and what you asked about, what it was in the field. It looked like a WW2 gun emplacement. To protect from invading troops. But I’m not positive. I’ve seen something similar on the way to Yorkshire. Tamworth sounds like a Phoenix. It keeps rising again. Looking forward to the next video.
Thanks Edna. Love your comment. Yes well done, WW2 Pillbox FW3/24. Built between 1940-1941. can anyone tell me the command line? and how many were constructed? It was great learning some of the history of the area. Well noticed about the Staffordshire hoard :) I have been invited to some nearby historial locations since this video, really excitted on the future videos, stay tuned for vlogs over the rest of the year. Hope you enjoy them :)
Hi EccentricM, thanks for leaving a comment, Sam is a lovely guy, glad he invited me to Tamworth. Just waiting for him to have some spare time so we can do another video soon, stay tuned :)
Unfortunately I grew up in Tamworth. It was a shithole then and it is still a shithole now. I hate Tamworth, but I can still see that you enjoyed walking around the mud puddle.
Great video guys. I've lived here almost all of my life and knew a lot of the history, but learned something new too. Good job. :)

Hi Velociraptor, we had a great time filming these historical places. thanks for your comment.
Some parts are, not all. Which is true of many places.
