This wasn't a crusade song. In 1865, A 30-year-old man named Sabine Baring-Gould took a job as an assistant pastor hoping to start a new church in a factory town in England. The workers of the factory mill had no school for their children and no church, so Sabine got a 2-story cottage in that town and turned the down stairs into a school and the upstairs into a church. He worked hard to love those poor people. One day, the head pastor sent word that he was supposed to bring the school kids for a one mile walk up the hill to the big church for a special meeting. To keep the kids from giving up on the long hike, Pastor Sabine wrote the song Onward Christian Soldiers and had the kids sing it with him as they went. It turned into a big event for the community, and several parents met them along the road to join in the parade. He was worried when he saw that one of the young ladies of the town wasn’t with them. He realized that he really loved Grace, and the day would be hollow without her. So, he marched the whole group to her house and begged her come along. She did, and three years later Sabine and Grace were married.

I love this album "Our Hymns". Great Artists. I grew up listening to this song. This song makes me remember my childhood days (30 years back)... Thank you so much for uploading this song. Present generation artists in the US and all over the world should listen to this quality of music and harmony. I really miss this kind of CHRISTIAN music these days.

The Apostle Paul told Timothy, " Endure hardship, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ."
2 Cor. 10, " though we walk in the flesh, we do (not) war in the flesh, for the (weapons) of our
warefare are not carnal. but mighty in God, for the pulling down of strongholds." Ephesians 6:" for we (wrestle not) aga inst flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of (this) world, spiritual wickedness in high places. Put on the armor of GOD".

A.A. Saludos!!

    • @alanmetheny9346
      @alanmetheny9346 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi there, funny thing about the Crusades... the Christians from Egypt had already "saved" Jerusalem from the Muslims by the time the Europeans arrived on the scene anyway. I agree it is a sad part of the history of Christianity. Have you seen the "Season of the Witch" with Nick Cage? It gives some more perspective on this. It must have been an interesting time 1300-1400AD.

  • @Ermanil

@IRENIGMA888 Just sayin', i think your missing the point. I'm not going to get into a debate, but the sad truth is, only a select few will get into heaven, the others, will not. They will hear the Word, but because of their decision to not accept the Lord as their savior they won't get into heaven.
Maybe innocents pertains to those people? If that is the case, then it is not our fault, we loved them, and we tried to show them the way, but they chose not to believe it. So yes, Victory to God.

Or were they? First of all, what started the Crusades? The Arab's invaded the Holy Land
of Israel. They also would have defiled Jerusalem and the Temple of Jehova. It was right for the europeans to stand up for Israel, " My elect". (Is.) GOD said of Israel, " Yet I will not forget u (Israel), See, I have inscribed u in the palms of My hands." (Isaiah 51)

    • @anonb4632

Triple MVP legend Actually it was also a deal between the Vatican and European rulers that helped them get rid of all the troublesome knights and underlords who were fighting each other all the time. Europe became a more peaceable place while the Muslim threat was countered.
Richard the Lionheart who everybody thinks of as a Crussder hero was sent a young messenger boy during the Crusades - Richard and his men proceeded to rape the boy before killing him and eating him. Not pretty stuff.
