My uncle flew this plane in the movie. He was a Navy pilot at the time and flew these planes on the aircraft carrier. My cousin has the ram horn helmet he wore in the movie. He and my aunt was invited to the premiere showing in California. He retired as a Captain in 1975
My dad (Cmdr John W Ramsey) flew the Panther in 2 tours of the Korean War (last tour he was skipper of VF-111 Sundowners). We have a Panther here in Bowling Green, Ky at the Aviation Park Museum. Nice video thank you for sharing.
My Dad flew these on a round the world cruise on the USS Tarawa. I was a seven year old when we saw him off JAX Naval base as he flew off to join the ship. These planes are so small compared to modern jets, very pretty things though. His was tail number 214, he flew with squadron VF102.
A very cool jet for sure. That movie I have with Van Johnson and Keenan Winn called The Men of The Lucky Lady. Great movie. F-9 Panthers were the jets flown . Thanks for posting this video, enjoyed it a bunch.

Always cloudy in Michigan. Kalamazoo and Battle Creek are overcast 85% of the time. Muskegon...95% of the time.
He must've crashed it, if not, it would definitely still be on the air show circuit
