For the past 20 years I have been part of two separate dog rescue groups. One is just German shepherds and the other one is all breeds. One Saturday night I was on Craigslist and came across an ad for someone trying to get rid of their Jack Russell. I reached out to the person that runs the all breed rescue and forward the ad. Within an hour the people made contact with her and set up an appointment for the very next day for us to go look at her. We were watching how the owners young daughter was treating the Jack Russell and some of the things the owners were saying just did not add up. So right there we decided we were taking her with us. We were trying to get out of there quickly before we lost our temper. And they gave us boxes for things but we did not look at any of it until we came back to my house. I agree to Foster her. Once we open the box it became very clear this poor baby was being treated very badly. They had in the box at least six different dog shampoo five or six different cologne made for dogs and there was several bottles of Benadryl and even capsules of Benadryl. For people who don't know Benadryl is given to dogs that you are trying to get to sleep or if you feel they're too hyper this will knock it out of them because they will be sleeping. When she went up on our website I thought for sure it would be a matter of days before someone would take her. She was very well behaved she loved living with her German shepherds brother and sisters. She thought she was a boy. She attached herself to my oldest Shepherd and was trying to do everything he did including lifting her leg to go to the bathroom. A year later she was still with me. That's when the president of the rescue approached me about forever fostering her. For people that's not in rescue forever foster it's just another term used for living with you forever just like an adoption except the rescue would pay for any medical bills. Like most of the volunteers we always pay for our forever fosters medical Care. She loved me so much that every night she had to sleep on my stomach or right next to my side and in the winter months she went under the blankets and fell asleep between my legs using one of them as her pillow. When she crossed over the rainbow bridge she did so in our bed and on top of my stomach. The first part of her life was horrible the second part was the best that she or any of my babies could ever have. Sorry for going on and on but when it comes to all of my babies I don't know when to be quiet.
david frank this was so sweet!!.. poor baby having such a horrific upbringing. 😔 but I’m soo happy you were able to change all of that and she was most grateful which is why she decided to pass next to you. She felt comfortable and best of all safe with you, she was scared of going but she knew you being there made her fearless. It’s awesome what you do and I beg to please keep doing so! I wish I could be a foster but I’m not courageous nor strong like all of you foster parents.
My mom got her second jack Russell from the spca. The pup was either dumped or let loose, prob because of her energy. Jacks are so cute, esp when they are puppy’s but I think people don’t read up on them first.
It breaks my heart that people would get an energetic dog only to drug it with benadryl. God forbid you burn off energy playing tug of war with a rope or... :gasp: ... go for a hike
@Andrew Lim This is true. But if you put in time and effort you can never find a better friend. I bring all my terriers everywhere. They can even walk free on the farm with our smaller animals like chickens, guinea pigs, rabbits etc. Actually i find that just as "difficult"or even worse than a jack (that is the best😄) .. you have the ALL the so popular border collies, mallinois, Huskies, doodles, cattledogs, beagle, dachs, german sheperd, vizzla, weimaraner, dalmations, doberman, the spitzbreeds to mention just a FEW (cause the list is long) that need ALOT .... I Think its the people who are difficult or just plain stupid and dont wanna train or do what is necessary to own a dog.
Mine is 4 1/2 months old. Any tips on burning off some energy indoors? It's very cold out. We go on short walks every 2 hours but we both quickly end up shivering (yes, she has a little jacket too). She hasn't learned fetch yet but we are working on it with lots of positive reinforcement. We play tug of war and I hide treats for her to find. Any other suggestions will be appreciated!
My Jack was so intelligent and loyal. My boy knew the human language, even me saying stay , I am making or getting a cup of coffee and will be right back. My Jack Russell's only problem was separation anxiety because he loved me so much and the truth is, I had the same problem as I hurried back home to him as fast as I could. I lost him to the old age of 19 this last Easter. My baby never stopped walking until 4 days before he passed, and I am proud to say he could still see good and hear good and it is unbelievable that he still had all his teeth. I cannot afford a lot of money for one as I also lost my husband in 2020. I would love another one if someone is looking for a good home with lots of love and Vet references. I have no other dogs and I have 4 acres in Alabama. My opinion is they are a wonderful breed that does not stink like most Dogs.
We just lost ours after 17 long and faithful years last week. Still getting over him. I can only appreciate the long time we were able to share together.
I was lucky to have a beautiful male Jacky who used to rule my life and I loved him SO much. He was real character. Typical Jacky had NO fear but was very loving as well. He was crazy and everyone loved him. He died at age 18 and broke my heart.

My killer 😂😂😂 just turned 12.. hes a little pisshound. Pees in his room all the time. On the other hand he is the best little snuggle bug ever! Wouldn't sell him for a million dollars i love him so much... well.... maybe... 😂😂😂
I had a wonderful jack russell. She was the smartness dog. When my cats would be clawing my furniture, and she would run over and stop them. She did not need a leash . When I let her out to the bathroom at night and I would tell her to go to the bathroom and leave the possum alone and she did. Everything I told her she did. I adopted her from the humane society because her owner died and she was taken there. I saw her on the local TV news show for adoption and she was 11 years old and when I saw her I fell in love and adopted her and took her home the next day. She gave me so much joy and love. She started to get sick in March and I had taken her to the vet about 5 times and the last time the doctor told me that I needed to put her to sleep and it broke my heart, but she was losing weight and was not eating much at all. She had heart and kidney failure. So I took her in for the last time and held her in my arms as the vet put her to sleep. I had her for 4 years and 2 months. The most wonderful time of my life. I gave her rides in the golf cart, boat, 4 wheeler and car rides with her in her car seat. I know part of me died with her
My Jack and I rode the New York subways together. Rode the Staten Island Ferry every weekend and he never once behaved badly. Nothing scared him. He was a great guard dog at home too. He tried to fight a Rottweiler but I held him over my head to protect him until the owner came and got his dog. My Jack was pissed I wouldn't let him fight.
Your comment reminds of that time at the dog park Samantha is a super alpha JRT. She will not abide having her business sniffed until she sniffs the other dog first. A Great Dane tried to do it at the dog park. She whipped around, ran under the Great Dane and nipped him on a rear ankle. That dog followed her around the whole rest of the day at the dog park like he was a royal guard and she was the queen of the dog park. Jack Russel dogs do not know they are small. They don't have a concept of it.
My JRT puppy's mother got into a fight with a Rottweiler which inflicted a serious wound on her. She went back for more - she wasn't scared of anything. Fortunately her owner rescued her because she wasn't about to back off no matter how she was injured. She needed immediate surgery but recovered completely and was able to give birth to my little dog. He is a spirited little chap who isn't afraid of anything and I know where he got it from.
❤❤aw my jack is about 9-10yrs old best dog ever! Everyone loves him. Cuddly, lovable, energetic, smart, silly, very independent, social and protective. He can be a homebody and a adventurer all in one❤❤❤
Funny how many people are watching this video and remembering their own Jack. My buddy Kapo has been gone over a year now and I can’t imagine ever having a little Jack as cool as he was.
I'm with you on that one, my partners jack passed few months ago, he was 17, in few months we're gonna look for another pup jack, thing is, you've got memories that never fade, but getting another is giving them a great life with love and warmth.
yeah, I just can't bring myself to get another dog. I miss Samantha so much. Same thing I don't think I can duplicate the experience and it would not be good for the new dog. My Chesapeake Bay Retriever was much loved, but Samantha was the queen of the house. Watching them play together was better than any movie or TV show ever made.
My Jack Russel Figaro was the best dog I’ve ever had in my life. He was never sweet, he never made friends with anybody, he lived with silly labradors who fooled him all the time, but he was a once in a lifetime kinda dog.
I have a female JRT and is the little girl in my life, when I come home and life stinks , she is always there for me ..she has been attacked 3 times twice almost killed her from neighbors dogs. Then at 7 years old I noticed something wrong with her I rushed her to the vet and two days we had to put a pacemaker in her. This breed of dog is the most remarkable pain tolerated, loving, and loyal dog I have ever had.The day the Lord takes her , I can't imagine. my day without her, laying quietly on my lap waiting for me to say" come on Bella Let's go to bed" and she would jump down and stay by my side all night.God Bless the JRT
Does everyone say that? My Jack Russel terrier was also the best dog I ever had, and one of kind. I think all of us JRT owners do have that same experience. I loved all my dogs, Samantha was something special. There are only a couple humans that I have liked more than my JRT.
I adopted two of them last year. Brother and sister I can't believe somebody would get rid of these bugs they are unbelievably awesome animals. I put down two Jack Russells last year right around this time 21 + 18. Best dogs on the planet in my eyes
MrSprintcat agreed!! ♥️♥️ and you’re sooo lucky to have gotten 2!!. I’ve got a mix and he’s more jack than whatever his other breed is and a friend found him roaming in her neighborhood. 😔 she couldn’t keep him because of her two large boxers so I was like I’ll take him!!.. best decision of my life he’s my baby! He makes me laugh with his silliness and absolutely smart! I’m definitely going to look for a full Jack in a shelter of course 😉
My neighbor got a Jack Russell terrier Seven months ago, the dog named Jay, a very happy and smart one. He likes to visit me everyday, which helps me getting out of depression. Now, I am completely free from medication. Thanks to my dear friend, Jay. I love you, and your parents. Wish I can post your beautiful photo to the public.
“I” have been allowed to live with 3 at the same time. My little monsters take EVERYTHING to a new level. Spicy, feisty, determined, obnoxious and lovable. To raise them takes a neighborhood (everybody knows them). Mom’s favorite training phrase, ‘find a spot, lay down and leave me the heck alone’. Works every time.
Over the last 26 yrs I've had three.. the latest is a mix. He's so dang cute, exactly jack, but his ears prick up They live a long time and can gain so much smarts. What a beautiful bond here.
I have an adopted Jack for 12 years this April, he will be 15. He loves his naps in the sun now, but if he sees a rabbit or squirrel he instantly becomes 3 again. The sweetest, smartest, people loving dohI have ever had.
The most remarkable, loyal, intelligent dog you could ever own. I grew up with one. And I got a new JR pup last year. He's my best friend, he lifts me when I don't feel good. He knows my mood, my form etc. He's the funniest little man you could ever imagine. I love him to bits and I'm fairly sure he loves me too. I can't bear to think of life without him.
They leave a big hole in your heart. I pray mine is running in spirit with my Husband that picked him out as a puppy and my Son that passed in 2017. My dog was by my side through my Son's battle with cancer that was lost in 2017 and then my wonderful Husband that lost his fight in 2020. My Jack left on Easter 2022, he was 19 years old.
I am so blessed to be the mum of a JR. I have five sons (human) and my JR Tommy is definitely my 6th boy. These dogs just absolutely fill your life with joy.
Lovely little dogs. You'll never have rats or mice in your house if you have a jack Russell. Very hardy too - I've met 3 that were still on the go at age 19. This one looks particularly smart!
I have had 2 jrt in my life and the current one just turned 13 yr old.. I started to give her cosequin and she is almost as agile and feisty as she was as a pup. She is so smart too . I just love the breed. Your story was great it gave me a happy feeling .. thanks for sharing 😊
@@sw-fd4ty I had to look up the Parsons Terrier as I am new to this group of dog . It appears that the Parsons has a bit of a beard more than the standard jack I have. She is great. 3 months almost 4 months old. I would say that she is a tough train for a newby like me and I have had German Shepherds and a Bouvier Des Flandres but she is not like them 😊....she is fun though. Loves to play! I'm going to get her a play set in the backyard at some point. She loves to jump through my arms as a hoop! Likes to play fetch...hard head though. She wants her freedom outside and I have been letting her off the leash so she can run!! She loves it..just hard to get her back unless she's ready..lol
Our family 'accidentally' came onto the Rescue scene when we took in a deaf 8 week old catahoula leopard dog. While he (Blue) was at training camp for deaf dogs, we got a call late one night to take on an 8 week old "corgi" who had severely bitten someone and was going to be put down the next morning. Of course, we took her and named her Mollie. She turned out to be a full JRT instead of a corgi! And the person she had bitten was a 92 year old who was playing "rough" with her and Mollie got excited &bit the tip of the woman's nose off! She was playing & got too excited & she was just a baby. She was sweet, energetic and playful at first. But then Blue, 14 weeks old, came home. Our other dogs were wary of Blue. He didn't respond like they did. He was just different (deaf). But Mollie (9 week JRT) saw something there. Someone who needed her help. Someone who needed instruction, demonstration, friendship, understanding, and a set of new ears! She amazingly took on the job of being the 'Blue Buddy'! We were in awe over how Mollie constantly tutored him in doggie ways, especially since she was younger. But she was and still is a very smart girl! She bonded with Blue so well that she literally became his ears! If we called them to come indoors, Mollie wanted to be the first one through the door! She'd get halfway across the yard and look back and see Blue still sitting at the fence looking the other way. She'd turn around and dash back, grab his ear for attention, and bolt for the porch again. Blue would come pulling up the rear, tongue flopping, smiling, & howling, while Mollie would sit there looking at him like 'You cost me the race, dude!' LOL
Mine was named Tinker as well, had 18 great years with her. She had a black head with a white stripe from the back of her head to the tip of her nose. Always looking for an adventure.
My JRT, Olive , was my living mouse trap. She was always catching mice and leaving the them at the foot of my bed. 15 yrs.of non stop fun with that little girl.
Mine would kill a mouse so fast that the mouse had no clue what was going to happen. Jack was all ears and nose in the winter time on our little farm, he would hear a sound and slide across the Kitchen floor and it was over with one bite as the Jack don't play like a Cat does.
I live in Australia & I picked up a rescue Jack Russell x Kelpie who was scheduled for euthanasia. This fabulous little dog is the best little dog ever. She has the heart & personality primarily of a Jack Russell. She's as clever & as smart as whip, totally obedient & has remarkably athletic abilities. She could easily clear a 4 ft jump, run as fast as a Greyhound & even chase off snakes. She is so loyal & affectionate. The only thing is she doesn't like anyone or anything outside of us, so we work with that limitation. I just wanted to say if ever you have the opportunity to rescue a JR you won't be sorry just make sure you give them what they need which is a job. Keep them focussed on a task, they live that. You'll be rewarded with a fantastic, lovable little dog. ❤
I have two Jack Russells, one saved me from a black whip snake while working in the garden. She got bitten in the process but thankfully survived. They are just the most loyal dogs and so much fun !.
The Jack Russell Terrier is not just a dog. They are a derson (a dog person). My JRT "Honey" just turned 14 this month and is the joy of my life. And her human family members as well. She is life, love and joy personified. Other than very slight cloudiness in her eyes, she seems the same energy level and sharpness as always. Especially chasing her soccer ball or balloons. And of course ever-vigilant against squirrels. (Those arboreal b-stards.) I've been around a lot of dogs in my life. Nothing can prepare you for the incredible-ness, individuality, PERSONALITY (similarities) and joy in this dog (person). I don't know what Reverend Russell did to get to this "breed" but there's a magic in this dog that can't really be equaled. And, hooray for the JRTCA !!!! TR Ball, Rochelle, IL
What an enchanting dog. Reminds me of my late Jack Russell Barney - a rescue dog now sadly no longer with us. Full of mischief if somewhat portlier than your dog.
Our JRT-mix used to love to jump. She ruptured two discs in her lower back and had surgery, we didn’t expect her to make it but she did, and had to learn to walk again. She can no longer jump and walks with a limp, but she can still run super fast.
My jack russell terrier boris is 11 yrs. old still very naughty and jealous of everyone coz he loves me so much always hunting for rats and lizards he also loves taking a bath
Fascinating. I'm looking into getting a Jack as a second dog. My heeler and I go on all kinds of adventures every day and a smaller companion with boatloads of energy would match us well.
A dog is 100% fulfilled if it’s trained to constantly use it’s brain and energy. Dogs have to have a job to do. My future JRT will be my hiking buddy and protector 😛
The guy who owns the gun shop told me if you get 50 %from a jack you are doing great .The other 50 % is the jack russell determined personality. And a hyper dog is a healthy dog .We love ours .so clever Would stand in front of a lion to defend you.
So I had a dog that I found that i loved. Then I found a gf I loved one day a lady told me that a Jack Russel was at the vets and had been in a car accident and the owner told the vet after the operation to repair its back leg was successful to put the dog down. So me and the gf went to go see him. His name was rocky. He was tiny with huge ears and he hated men. Growling at me and he peed himself when he saw me. I never wanted a tiny dog but my gf convinced me to try him at home for a few days. Well it’s now been two years, the gf left but didn’t take the dog your loss Agustina but if you do one thing in your life live with a Jack Russel. A bit crazy, fearless, brave, funny and happy to snuggle up with you. They are amazing. Rocky is now called Nucky Thompson and he is a great dog. My other dog passed recently of old age so just me and the little fella now. I think we are lucky to have each other. Bffs for ever.
Never had one......but every one of them I have been around was smart as a whip. One used to come over to my place when I would mow to ride with me on the mower . One day I was mowing around small trees and brush.....off he went so I looked back to see him hanging on to a limb just ripping and tearing at it, thought it was funny. Pretty soon he was back on the mower riding again and again I started mowing around a different area with saplings....off he went and started hanging in the air just a twisting and ripping at the limb I had just brushed against. I am telling you that little guy was trying to get those limbs out of my way....lol

I’ll never see the likes of him again.
❤ my favorite breed ever
Wonderful memories of my dear departed Jack. They are so close to human these dogs.
I miss my Jack so much. I love you Romeo my best friend ever!
they live in your heart forever
I have a jack Russell she’s 11years old so full of life and a beautiful dog she is my world 🐶
Our favorite dog...we have one and she makes us smile everyday! Love our Dolly!
Gotta love these guys, they have SO much spirit and heart!❤
And they bite mine does
I love my little Jack, he is such a character. He is the best companion ever. I tell him I love him every morning before going to work. 🤣
Just wondering, did a Jack Russel edit this video and upload?
Good eye. Their only bad trait is the lack of humility
no a rattie did that for him lol
No, but he did play the Banjo soundtrack! 🤣
Best comment I’ve ever seen lol.
Yes .
Amazing training and bond. Very talented and blessed dog!
Best friend I ever had was a smooth coat.
Without a doubt that dog understood english.
They are such fast runners!
I finally realized that I have to leave my Jack off leash. She stays right with me but she’s fast!
They love us and are so loyal they dont let us out of their sight!
Jack Russell Terrier, the best of the best.
Over the last 26 yrs I've had three.. the latest is a mix. He's so dang cute, exactly jack, but his ears prick up
They live a long time and can gain so much smarts. What a beautiful bond here.
My goodness! What a wonderful lad. I have a Jack and I'm so in love with her... amazing dogs ❤️
I have an adopted Jack for 12 years this April, he will be 15. He loves his naps in the sun now, but if he sees a rabbit or squirrel he instantly becomes 3 again. The sweetest, smartest, people loving dohI have ever had.
Mine too... and hes 12 and still acts like a puppy!
Do all jrts like sleeping under blankets? He's gotta always has his nose like right under my leg
This little man is awsome ♥️
Such a delightful breed!
I miss my Jackie. Greatest dog ever. She was like these dogs.
Awesome video❤️ I love the JRT Spirit!
I’ve had 3 of these comical and loving dogs. My JRT Max is 16. We’ve been buddies for a long, long time....he’s just my treasure.
I have a 8 yr old named Buster. Best dog I’ve ever owned. Love him.
Warning:
Jack Russell's can steal you heart in a second. ❤
This video reinforces my love of the Jackie. Having had 3 at the same time, life was NEVER a dull moment.
My Jack is 2 yrs old certainly outsmarts me love him to bits❤
The trainers in this are also special.
My Jack Russell has me trained.
My Sasha had to be put down last year due to heart disease. I really enjoy watching these videos. I really miss her.
Yes they are!
Oh how I miss my Annie,
She was such a sweet smart girl.
Yours is being kept busy by your family,
Until you are all reunited again 💓
I've fallen in love with these dogs...wish I could afford one!!!
Only 5K views is a travesty. Could bring tears to your eyes if you love this dog. This video is hilarious! I love these dogs and the video is amazing.
Buying a female Russell today!
@@digitalsportsclipstv2018 I'm looking for a Parsons Terrier also...how is your puppy working out?
Blue would come pulling up the rear, tongue flopping, smiling, & howling, while Mollie would sit there looking at him like 'You cost me the race, dude!' LOL
i'm crying remembering my grandpas beloved Jack Russel he called "Tinker"
Mine was named Tinker as well, had 18 great years with her. She had a black head with a white stripe from the back of her head to the tip of her nose. Always looking for an adventure.
@@louismeloche3857 That's awesome! I love how full of life they are.
Love all dogs, wouldn't own anything but a Russell. Lucy is 16 now, got her a year after Tink.
I love jack Russell
My JRT, Olive , was my living mouse trap. She was always catching mice and leaving the them at the foot of my bed. 15 yrs.of non stop fun with that little girl.
Mine would kill a mouse so fast that the mouse had no clue what was going to happen. Jack was all ears and nose in the winter time on our little farm, he would hear a sound and slide across the Kitchen floor and it was over with one bite as the Jack don't play like a Cat does.
The dog of my life❤ Cant be without them
Jrt s are crazy loyal fearless determined smart as hell and mans bestest friend ❤️
So true
Good grief! I’m exhausted just watching!
Love Jack Russell Terriers.
You have a hero dog. Jesus keep her safe🐶!
Amazing dog. The trainer has done amazing work.
The best dog ever my best friend love him
The Jack Russell Terrier is not just a dog.
I got one from a rescue shelter.
same,,,,, best dog ever
Bluegill Phil same here from the spca
You missed the most important thing..laying quietly in your lap being a companion..or riding quietly in the car..uncrated.
How do you protect a dog from injury in the event of a car crash, without a crate? Just curious.
@@dalekelly7639 With a harness and something like this smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B019KHFESQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Ours can
@@davezorc Thanks, I thought that perhaps there were doggie restraints like these. Wonder why so few "dog lovers" seem to use them.
@@noelstar1456 Do you use a crate, or some form of belt/harness?
Wonderful kind of love♥️🍃
What an enchanting dog. Reminds me of my late Jack Russell Barney - a rescue dog now sadly no longer with us. Full of mischief if somewhat portlier than your dog.
Our JRT-mix used to love to jump. She ruptured two discs in her lower back and had surgery, we didn’t expect her to make it but she did, and had to learn to walk again. She can no longer jump and walks with a limp, but she can still run super fast.
Love the smart agile and funny JRT
My jack russell terrier boris is 11 yrs. old still very naughty and jealous of everyone coz he loves me so much always hunting for rats and lizards he also loves taking a bath
Mine just turned 12 and hes still nuts! Sooo funny.. quirky... very smart.. 😂😂
And very possessive of mama!
Fascinating. I'm looking into getting a Jack as a second dog. My heeler and I go on all kinds of adventures every day and a smaller companion with boatloads of energy would match us well.
We have been owned buy JRT for over 19 yrs- incredible dogs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course, anything for his lady💗
Miss my jack Russell so much. So
happy lively and loyal if only my ex that took him from me was the same :(
I’ve got a jack russell named Eddie like the one from the show Frazier . He’s extremely smart . Has a very wide vocabulary
What a darling dog!
the handstand broke me in half, ahahahah
A dog is 100% fulfilled if it’s trained to constantly use it’s brain and energy. Dogs have to have a job to do.
My future JRT will be my hiking buddy and protector 😛
Such a clever dog
I would like to know who are the 2 as...…. that dislike this video!!!
Héctor Fabian De La Barra cat people
54 chihuaha owners...
Jrt's are the absolutely most positively definitely the no1 for me all the dog u need in 1 and some😁😁😁👍👍👍
Your dog is so smart and adorable.Love watching the videos.❤️🙏
ratties and jacks are the best of dog any show
Wow I love this dog!
The guy who owns the gun shop told me if you get 50 %from a jack you are doing great .The other 50 % is the jack russell determined personality. And a hyper dog is a healthy dog .We love ours .so clever Would stand in front of a lion to defend you.
Mine did, coyote attack killed her😢😢😢
my jack chihuahua girl is so adorable. I love her so much! she looks like her chihuahua daddy.
lost our jr a month ago,her name was chi,she was 20 years old. she died in my arms.it broke my heart.
My daughter has been pestering me for a long time. This is so her type of pooch.
Чудо чудное!
What a cute living missile 😁
Fire and forget, search and destroy.
Mission accomplished
I have a jack Russell myself. best dog I have had since my 2 dachshunds I had since i was 4 died
