Great video - thank you for posting this. Getting ready to do my first service on my XTO450s and this will be super helpful. One quick comment... On the Yamaha video "Gearcase Lubricant Exchange System How It Works" they say that you should leave the air vent hose connected for 5 minutes after you tilt the motor down to allow the air to purge from the lower unit. Not sure what issues it might cause if you don't do that but thought it was worth mentioning. Thanks again for a great video!
Thanks for posting this! I have a 100 coming up on my 322. I wasn't looking forward to another $3k bill from the dealer! (owner of Code Talker in St Pete)
@@LightningCapitalLiving - fwiw, for the lower unit, I figured it would be easy to make a stand so I did a quick search and came across a thread on The Hull Truth. A bunch of guys recommended the B&D Workmate. $100 at Home Depot. Done!
Very nice video. Not sure how your experience is, but replacing the lower units and getting them to seat back up can be a real PITA. They sometimes need some tapping with a rubber mallet to go on the last 1/2".
Two questions... 1) Did you put motors in neutral or in gear before you pulled lower? Was it tough to get it to align?. I struggled on a F150, but that lower is 3 times the weight. 🙂 2) I usually work on lowers by myself, but that 425.... definitely a 2 person job?
So these motors automatically go to neutral when the key turns off, so they were in neutral. Also very easy to slide in and out . If you had a ratchet strap I thing you could get it off by yourself, but once that last bolt comes out it’s going down for sure. I’m a strong dude but I wasn’t turning down any help with this

Thanks for that tip. Good luck with the install it’s totally worth saving the money on a mechanic. Just takes a little time.
Merci beaucoup ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

We will let the dealer do the 300 hr service next year, but might as well save what we can every 100 hour

I did my 300’s and it was quite a bit more work considering I have 1800 hours on mine. These were silky smooth compared to that
@@LightningCapitalLiving Interesting...all three of my 425 lowers were kind of a chore to tap loose and back in place.
Goode video
Thank you
that matt guy seems pretty sharp. bet he can't fish for shit though!
He knows how to fish. Just gotta get them to bite
