    THIS STORY:
Wanda Elaine Stopa was a Polish-American lawyer and murderer. She was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1900. She studied at The John Marshall Law School and became Chicago's youngest and first woman assistant U.S. district attorney.
Stopa tried to shoot her lover's wife at her home in Palos Park, but accidentally shot and killed their 68-year old gardener, Henry Manning. She fled the scene and led the police on a manhunt.

    THIS CHANNEL:
    _________________________________________________________
The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
    Some are famous.
    And some infamous....
    ....and some with tragic endings.

Sad that such an intelligent , successful woman got trapped by a liar . I have been to funerals where you had to be prepared to get out of there because of family feuds . There were some funerals I would not go to because I knew ,my mom knew and other family members knew there was going to be trouble . So ya it happens and police know about it and wait . Wanda was to good for Mr. Smith , but she never should have gone after his wife . His wife was not to blame, she should have gone to source of her troubles, Mr. Smith . What waste of a mind and person, lost to lies and deceit .

    • @robertdemitro1520

@@awaiting...His...return : I didn't say Wanda was innocent . She got caught up with a married man and the fact she was married didn't absolve her of having an affair . We don't know what the agreement was in the beginning of the affair . Mr. Smith was older and seemed have been around the block once or twice , he manipulated her . Sounds like Wanda was green , she only knew her husband in terms of sexual relations . The affair with Wanda didn't seem to be Mr. Smith's first Rodeo . My point is if she was going to aim her gun at someone, it should have been Mr . Smith , not his wife . God only knows what Mr. Smith promised Wanda ,that she left her job with the State ? He broke her and left her . She was a victim of a man who knew exactly what he was doing , a manipulative , deceitful person ,preying on an inexperienced young woman . Mr. Smith living a double life , he was on the bohemian scene a lot longer than Wanda and most likely ueed young women taking drugs and alcohol . A playground for a sexual predator, who wants to get away with taking advantage of young women . The scales were not balanced with Wanda . His ( ? ) love only got Wanda abused .

I pray Wanda's spirit is at rest for she made terrible choices in regards to being someone's mistress. Killing the gardener was horrible as he had nothing to do with it. The husband should've bared the burden of this drama. Wanda was responsible for her actions but the husband didn't make it easy for all involved as well.

Funnily enough when i stand at a grave i always wonder who stood there before me, most likely they would have known the deceased and been family members, i wonder what was said, what they wore and how they travelled there as J P Hartley said the past is a foreign country, how very true is that statement. Thank you for sharing with us i would never have known Wanda's story otherwise, i hope she sleeps peacefully now

I am surprised that Wanda didn't realize that by committing murder she would not be able to fulfil her dreams. She must have had a lot of intelligence to have become an attorney, yet she allowed her jealousy to dominate her feelings. She was unable to see through her lover's deceit and followed a path of destruction. Thanks again Ron, you are such a good story teller. Stay safe and keep well.

I believe when you have an affair and fall for the person it’s common to wish the other significant other would vanish and you will live a dream. I guess some people just can’t see it as a thought.

Would you ever take a fan/viewer on a cemetery tour with you? I’d love to see some of the gangster scenes and final resting places in person. I’m assuming I live very close to your location. You did a piece at a graveyard in Caledonia on HWY 32 last year. That’s where I grew up (Caledonia), I live in Racine now. Anyway, you’re killing it man. Way to go on the growth and success of your channel. Better times ahead for us all in this year 2021.

Thanks Todd glad you enjoy the channel, probably not- I never know where I’m going to be, or when and I have enough trouble guiding myself, LOL. Maybe next summer, I am supposed to meet one of our subscribers down in Indiana who is intimately knowledgeable of a case of someone famous that they suggested. So at some point -maybe once in a while!!

Or if you ever wanna see gangsters, just go to Mount Carmel cemetery. Starting with Al Capone most of them are there. If you go onto the Find a Grave site, and hit that cemetery, scroll down and it will show you where all these notable people are buried, and some are GPS, totally easy to find!!
