PokeYankeefan Yeah, Joey is the real one people should be worried about. A friend of Danny's who also doesn't pay rent and bounces around jobs and women (none of which that pay that well) and spends any money he has on children's memorabilia.

Let's copy the format of this video:
Why Uncle Jesse was Actually Awesome
He moved in after Danny asked him to help him out for a few weeks after Danny's wife died. He only thought he'd be there for a few weeks but the girls begged him to stay. He wanted to leave multiple times before that but STILL stayed because both Danny and the girls needed him. He not only had a job when he moved in (exterminator) but he later changed to a radio host, a successful rock band, an assistant to Joey's show, owning the nightclub and completely turning it around into a successful business after it foreclosed, and advertising. When he first moved in, he DID have his own room. He later gave up that room so Joey could move out of the basement. He then completely renovated the attic into a completely functional apartment that he and his pregnant wife could live in and later their twins and still stay to help Danny. Not only that but when the girls needed a dad when Danny was busy or had to work Jesse was there. He also helped the girls and his own kids by volunteering at their schools (not really by choice) and helping the girls what ever chance he got. And let's not forget how Stephanie cut off his hair and Dj almost crashed his prize car but he still stayed and forgave them immediately. Yeah, he sounds like a real freeloading douche.

Where are they getting all of this shit from? Jesse was anything but a leach. His sister had met with a tragic ending, leaving his young nieces without a mother. So, he moves in, to help Danny, his brother-in-law, who suddenly finds himself single and really does NEED the help. Throughout the entire series, Jesse is employed. So, I really don't know where the good folks at college humor are getting that he was a bum and a huge burden on Danny. As for him "never paying rent", well that is an outright lie. The audience never sees him write out a check or hand Danny cash, but that certainly does not mean he never paid anything.

He lived there, because his sister (Danny's wife) died and Danny needed help to take care of the 3 daughters, one of which was a baby when the show started.
He had a music career that he abandoned because his family needed him.
He got a job writing jingles for commercials when the girls grew up a bit.
Eventually became a musician again, and toured the world with his band.
He was basically a stay at home parent that was raising Danny's daughters, because Danny had to work all the time to support the family.

His rent is helping Danny raise his kids. If Danny charged him real rent it would ruin the atmosphere of love in the show. Jesse is seen by Danny as a family so he doesn't charge him: and when he originally moved in it was after his sister ( Danny's wife) had died and he was supposed to only stay for a little while to help Danny raise his kids. He leaves early on in the show and later when he gets a family but is called back. In short, he never leaves because they love him and so does the audience.

Ugg the feels. I rewatched this last year and had made it up to a couple episodes before the finale when Bob Saget passed. Took months for me to finish it, and still not readdy to start Fuller House.
Uncle Jesse is the kind of uncle we should all aspire to be, he gave up a lot to support his brother in law and the kids right after their mothers death. And he was present and a big part of their lives, not a jobless mooch.

  • @brianstraight9308
    @brianstraight9308 9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Jessie was Danny's brother-in-law, not brother. Jessie, and Joey, moved in with Danny to help him raise his three daughters and, in the end, they just became a close group of people who wanted to live together.
Jessie also did have other occupations other than his band while living there including running an advertising business with Joey and a recording studio/record producing label at one point. Jessie also did do gigs with his cover band so it had some use as an occupation. They attic space he had for an apartment for his wife and kids was also pretty spacious and cozy. Granted, their own home would have been larger, but I think there were plot reasons they didn't get their own house, partly Jessie's attachment to his nieces.
We don't strictly know they didn't pay rent, but given Danny's occupation, host of a local morning television show, it's possible he made enough money he didn't need rent and Joey and Jessie's help around the house was enough payment for any drain on the utilities they caused. Afterall, it was Danny's house it's likely he already could afford it.
Joey wasn't even much different than Jessie in the realm of loser-dom considering he also had a career, he was a stand-up comedian, and he did do those businesses with Jessie. He was just sort of an idiot man-child.
So, yeah, not sure what the point is here other than if you're going to critique a show and its characters maybe you should know what you're talking about? I dunno.

Not really. He had a lot of jobs over the course of the series, but ultimately gave up his dream so that he could be a good husband and father to his family, which is pretty selfless. He moved in to help his brother-in-law raise his children, that is his sisters' kids, which weren't his own. He asked to work from home so that he could raise the girls better. He had to give up a life of freedom and women to take care of his family. Furthermore, he renovated that attic by himself, for his wife and kids. He put other people ahead of himself time after time. Was he a bit irresponsible at times? Yes, but this is only because he is a human being. As for paying rent, he essentially did the work of a dad. Do you expect your spouse to pay rent when they've done chores and helped with the kids? No. He went far beyond what would be expected of a family member. Just because he didn't have a life long career doesn't make him pathetic-because of all the reasons listed, he is a very honorable and wonderful person.

Danny's wife died so no he did not live there with his "Wife and kids", Jesse paid rent in the form of taking care of the children and doing odd jobs for the family. Whoever did research on this knows less than someone who was not a fan of the show while it was on...

  • @mr.anti-hero4398

    This is highly inaccurate.
First of all, Jesse didn't mooch off Danny. He was never unemployed.
Before he made himself famous, he worked in a bug extermination agency.
He moved in only because Danny insisted for him to move in, so Jesse would be able to help Danny with children, due to the tragic death of his wife.
Due to Danny's insistence, Jesse didn't pay the rent, but he provided services related to the house and kids, and those came as extremely helpful to Danny. Also, Jesse wasn't exactly nobody as he was portrayed in the sketch.
He is a family. He was Pam's younger brother, which means he's an uncle to the girls.
Not just an "uncle" like Joey, but a real uncle.
Now let's put it into a perspective:
Imagine you have your wife passed away, and you insist for her younger brother to come live with you, for him to help with the kids because you're a middle-aged man with a time-consuming career.
He's still basically a kid himself, but he accepts that responsibility and comes into your home on your INVITATION to help YOU.
And then, even though you know he came exclusively to help you, and you're aware of the fact that he has a low-paying job, so as the fact that he's a family, and yet you still hit him up with monthly rent.
What kind of a scumbag would do something like that?
    LoL
