The Naas Botha Story

- Statistics alone have already assured Naas Botha of rugby immortality. It is a fact of life that new generations judge champions of the past solely on their legacy in record books and just as he was measured against the achievements of his predecessors, the match-winning qualities of future stars will be rated against the statistics Botha has left next to his name.
Historians will see Botha as the perfect representative of his age, a calculating points scoring machine and without a doubt the most consistent match-winner of his time.
He is, as Dr. Danie Craven has often said, a rugby genius and arguably the best flyhalf ever to play for South Africa.
This is our contribution to ensure the legacy of Naas Botha lives on forever.
Enjoy and thanks for watching!
NZ fan here. When as kids and we played front yard rugby, i would play as Naas Botha. He was the world best 10 in those days.
It was a privilege to watch Naas Botha , during the late 1970s and 1980s.
Dankie Naas
Naas was one of a kind Points Machine in every game real legend of the game
Naas Botha . The greatest ever flyhalf.
Even Western Province supporters grudgingly acknowledge that today.🏉
Not even close…….he couldn’t tackle. Dan Carter was 100x time the player he could ever hope to be. He wouldn’t be in the best 20 flyhalves of all time.
No. Bloody good 10, but refused to tackle.
Greatest match winner?.. Yes. But the GOAT is Carter and that's not even close
@@SuperEdge67 u are phckn hilarious, totally prejudicial and obviously know very little about rugby and phck all about his game to boot. He made plenty of brilliant tackles, that was a total wanopvatting, i.e. misconception, just lots of limited and selective perception on your side.
best flyhalf in rugby history
Dan Carter wud eat Naas for breakfast
@dionmatthews7319 Carter was very good... Naas was a genius.... there's a BIG difference my friend
@@vernehattingh2399 I respect your loyalty to Naas.
Better than your Pollard?
Only the uncles from the 60,70 and 80 can love Naas. Today our Nr10s play rugby, they run with the ball and all.
Naas was gonna become a Kickboxer but went to Texas😂
VERY best flyhalf in rugby history!
Tactical rugby genius!
beste rugby speler ooit....
In the words of Doc Craven.
"If a team with Naas Botha loses, then there is something drastically wrong with that team. Because you should never lose with Naas Botha in your team"
I was lucky enough to admire his skills during his years in Italy and he was an inspiration for my modest career as n. 10
Phenomenal player and person 🏆💪👌
Craven is reg hyt geken ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hy is die beste losskakel van alle tye!
naas was a genius player best of them all
those kicks with old leather balls...wow
Naas whas best flyhalf ever
Die beste van die heel bestes!! My held vandat ek 'n klein seuntjie was en sal altyd wees. Hy was die rede hoekom ek 'n Blou Bul ondersteunder geword het.
Hy was beste 10 in wereld Danie Gerber beste rugby speeler ooit sal nie weer so iets sien nie,,,
Naas, the best 10 in the history of the game, the best kicker of all time, and one of the best rugby players of all time, to boot...could'nt resist that pun. Fortunate to have played with him a few times, including against Maties in 1988 at Loftus, that we won, and in the 1988 Toyota Rugby Championship Final at Kingspark against Dispatch for Tukkies, albeit he threw in a quick line out on our 5m, rolling the ball on the ground to me, playing 14, that led to Dispatch scoring the winning try to win the game 13-9. You're forgiven Naas😊
Dan Carter might disagree
Really interesting, thanks!
Hy was die beste nr 10 ooit ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He was undeniably awesome. I wish South African history and timing had been just slightly different; Naas would most certainly have been a World Cup winner.
He kick it.
In NZ we called him Nasty Booter.
Actually I'm not feeling sorry for you.
I love the brutal honesty!
The Greatest flyhalve ever.
Imagine the ‘87 and ‘91 RWC’s with Naas leading Boks. Oh my days.
Both time's we would have ended up as World Champions,If the Boks played with Naas in the Bok team im 100 % sure of that.
@@paullouw4524Bullshyt, we would've been in a similar tight game in 1987 that we were in 1995 and were simply not good enough in 1991, as you saw in 1992 and how terrible we were before eventually Kitch Kristie fixed us up
Awesome ek soek al JARE vir die Naas FAKTOR video directed by Chris Engelbrecht, 1987!
Looked Morne played the game not a soft guy the tackle on Naas whas rugby,,, 🏉🏉❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤
Naas was baas
You know he was good when he managed to play in SA despite refusing to tackle .
How was that tackle late? Bit high for today but back then, nothing wrong.
Perhaps the best of his era. Shrewd "General", great attack runner, exceptional kicker But in the 2000's where 10's must tackle hard in defence? Naas would'nt make the pine, imo.🏴☠☘
There's no modern 10 that hit 7 drop goals every game like it's nothing 😢
Kyk Danie Gerber op 35 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Morne htt hom goed geloop maar hy like Naas 😂
Great player, but not always a great human being. Often quite graceless in victory
He was better than Grant Fox
Better than Daniel Carter too.
Agree
@@Naasjpnno, not even close..
Hy was nogal vinnig........seker van banggyt
Wedstryd wênner, brilante speler. Maar steeds 'n drol.
Ons sou all blacks geklop het 1987 eazy
Never liked him......
And? What's your point?
He has no point!
Look I know he played in apartheid but he was good we looked up to him in Argentina
It's worse now than then. Not only for whites. So, please. Stop obsessing over it.
This guy was a points and winning machine.
Morne was maar so maar hy en Naas was groot vriende Morne beste kaptein ooit ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Rugby Brein soos Geen Ander. Goue Voet. Telbord Jagter.
Vinnig " Balvaardig" het gevoel waar bal heen gaan.Tallent om te brand, beste ooit.
