Wow Brent, great informative video! I had no idea that Roush and Whipple discontinued for the three valves that is good to know! Not sure why they chose to do that but at least Edelbrock is still there to save us. Does this Edelbrock supercharger have a loud whine like a Whipple? I love the wine sound
Not as loud, but if you use the open air filter in our packages you do get some noise. Honestly noise comes from inefficiency on most kits. So when you make it super efficient you do not get the noise unless you are getting from the open air filter and typically a small pulley making the supercharger spin faster helps.
Ageee, these were so well done. I think these and the Bullitt look the best out of all 05-09 models including the Shelby GT500. Note though that the model years for these California Special’s are 07-09.
@@BrenspeedEngineering i think the orange an gray ones might be the limited ones I haven’t seen a gray one on road mostly see red fire white black an vista blue ones I got a 09 vista blue imma put some cams in it soon
Thanks for always posting 3v content! I'm interested in this setup but would love to see another pull with the Detroit Rocker cams specific to the Edelbrock Supercharger installed and then another with Kooks long tubes with cats and without. Would also love post holiday special supercharger and install packages for those of us who didn't get exactly what we wanted for Xmas.
Cool vid, was looking forward to hearing more of the super charger whine coming from the Edlbrock, maybe you can capture this and post? It might be a selling point for prospective buyers. Appreciate the 3 valve love 👍
They do not make much noise at this power level. Basically because the TVS is highly efficient and does not whine much like the old not efficient eaton style M90's...
We have been using these for over 13 years if not longer and have not experienced a heat issue. I mean when I say 13 years that is a lot of installs and we ran them on a couple of our race cars back in the day.
I have an 08 Bullitt/5-sp/3:73 gear. Only mod is cat-back MBRP exhaust. Forum guys seem to prefer Vortech & suggest boost stays under 9#. Would like your input per my particular car. Thanks
Watch this video link about boost and limits. It's really not "9" because 9 on different types superchargers make different power. Its really about torque limits. 9 is a good place to be on a TVS/Twin screw because of the low end capability but we go a bit more on a paxton/vortech. th-cam.com/video/oe-TR6JKtvo/w-d-xo.html
I'm currently looking into getting cams for my 05 3V. At the moment I'm leaning towards the hot rod cams from Ford, and I'm wondering if you recommend specific camshaft over that one or not. Keep in mind I'll have to install it myself and the engine has around 170k miles. Thank you!
Check out this link. We typically use Brenspeed Detroit Rocker cams in almost all 3V builds. They have improved torque over the HR and make more rwhp. They are no spring required as well and have that muscle car lope. Just search Detroit Rocker Cams on youtube you will find tons of sound files. www.brenspeed.com/05-08-mustang-engine-camshaft.html
I have this same Edelbrock supercharger kit on my 3 valve and love it im putting down 495 torque at the wheels and 480 whp kept up with a stock hellcat 60 roll to 135 along with that I have kooks long tube headers cats and catback and carbon fiber driveshaft upgraded clutch and flywheel Etc. my question is does the inter graded by pass valve they use when let off throttle help with parasitic loss keeps rpm up when let off throttle something I noticed is normal and something to keep in mind with these kits ??
Not exactly sure what you are talking about but if the hang is really bad I would check TPS voltage and the throttle blade spring. They are easy to not have set up correctly.
@@BrenspeedEngineering good to know I’ll check those out and see if I can diagnose it would like to bring my car to you but im in Massachusetts how far of a drive from you ?
@@BrenspeedEngineering also it’s not really bad but noticeable sometimes more than other times but thought could be the cooler weather more air flow would produce that to happen?
I take my car to HPDE track days/road racing and autoX. Which supercharger would you recommend, the Paxton 2200 or the Edelbrock? I'm concerned about the added weight and heat soak.
2200 would be good and a little easier on traction out of the corners. If you have killer tires and suspension the Edelbrock would be fine also but remember you have max torque at low rpm and you need to be able to put that to the ground.
All of our back ordered units are in transit to our facility. They have been on back order for 9 months! They moved production facilities and distribution and it took them a long time to get back on track. We filmed this a long time ago and were just waiting until they were available again to release this video.
I would not go with that supercharger if trying to achieve 800 rwhp. Way to small and even 800 flywheel is a difficult task based off the inlet size. Watch this video link it has info on 800 HP th-cam.com/video/26zCSoGAIqk/w-d-xo.html
ive seen a few guys running a blow off style valve on centrifugal blowers to allow it to mimic a roots style sc they have a pulley that makes the max boost for their tune at 4 grand and as rpm climbs it bleeds the excess boost off in a way it turns those into a roots performance wise,,... i would call it a poor mans root but who am i kidding theyre both expensive imo .. whats your opinion on that setup?
I have done that on a Coyote because those kits are blow thru style but not on the 3V because the Paxton/Vortech we use does not blow off like that because of the MAF set up. It still takes time for the boost to come in doing it that way and it will never be just like a roots/TVS/Twin screw style but it does allow a higher boost level to come in earlier than without it.
I had u guys install kook long tube headers and a tune on my 07 Shelby Gt , love how it runs , has 30 k miles on it , not sure what I should do next but I need to get down there and see u guys , what supercharger would work best with a 5speed manual transmission ? Thanks
Really depends how you want boost to come in. A Paxton Novi 2200 intercooled (Brenspeed package) is sweet and boost comes in slower and is a little easier to put to the ground. If you want instant torque and full boost at low RPM this Edelbrock is for you.
@@BrenspeedEngineering Paxton it is , u have several units on the novo 2200 , they range at all different prices and I can’t figure out the difference in them , there is one 2200 unit that u advertise at $7344.99 what the difference with this one than the others ? Thanks
