Men don’t sing like this because our modern concepts of men and women l’s relationships has changed. Same reason women don’t sing about putting their man on a pedestal. You’re right, it’s sad. Beautiful song. It was a different era.

@@jeffreiland7463 And vice versa. It's navigating a whole new world where women can actually make choices. Some men have decided that it's easier to get women by "negging" them, or ignoring them on purpose, or acting as if they themselves are the ones to be chased. Hence, we have a generation of boys and bros who think this is the way to go. Women aren't courted anymore, so they now make it just as transactional as the boys do and the boys don't like it.

Your being butt hurt about it sure says a lot about you though, kid. 🤠 ... yes , yes, yes ReRe. You made it to Kenny Rogers. Kenny is considered a crossover artist because most of his tunes were played on Country Music stations. His songs were so popular that they transferred over to pop music stations. Kenny sang quite a few duets with Dolly Parton , like "Islands In The Stream". I would like you to check out "You Decorated My Life" by Kenny Rogers.

Unfortunately, modern feminism is the reason. Today's men are too afraid to speak about women like that for fear of sounding sexist. To say someone is "my lady" offends a lot of women. That's why men don't hold doors for women as much as they used to for example.

You are such a pretty young lady and I'm glad you are listening to these great songs of yesteryear, and I love your appreciation for them. To answer your question, IMO, it started with the Women's Lib Movement of the 60s. A nice movement on the surface but turned many/some women into anger filled women who resented men holding them back and directed that anger at them in everyday life. So, I'm afraid to hold a door open for a woman less I be charged with insinuating a woman needs a man's strength because she is weak. That's a simplistic example but you get the idea. And just like the word "racism" is thrown around recklessly to get one's way, so too is the word "sexism". So, one has to be careful in choosing words because these kinds of women are hypersensitive and before you know it you are hit with "that's a sexist remark" and in the workplace today you end up in the HR department as a reprimand.

Kenny Rogers tried to be a rock act in the early days. Check out 'Kenny Rogers and The 1st Edition - I just Dropped In To See What Condition My Condition Was In' . The song writer is the great Lionel Richie. Lionel does just as good a job sing Lady as well. Check out his 'Hello'. Cheers.

He had so many great songs, but lady stands out written by the great Lionel Ritchie. I prefer the song performed by both Kenny and Lionel. They do so much justice to the song together. Personally all his duets with other artists are all great songs. Will forever love Kenny Rogers. May his soul continue to rest in peace 🙏🏾♥️♥️♥️👍🏾🇳🇬✅
