Lionel sought out Kenny to sing this song, after the Commodores voted as a band *not* to record it as they already had done other songs with the name Lady in them.
Yes. The ladies loved Kenny Rogers. Lionel Richie who wrote this was the lead singer for the Commodores until he branched out on his own.Mid 70 s and late 70 s they were big.
I agree with that one, it's great! Dolly is a one of kind voice... but so is Sheena Easton! So I'd also like to suggest Kenny Rogers & Sheena Easton - We've Got Tonight. I think Rere would love them both!
Lionel Richie is a phenomenal singer as well. Endless Love, Easy, All Night Long, are just a few. For another amazing love song on this level, I'd love to see what you think of "You've Lost That Lovin Feeling" by the Righteous Brothers.

Listen to how country music artists sing about the women they love, to this day. Suggest Alan Jackson's "Remember When" and Brad Paisley "She's Everything". Also for a song which is both lighthearted and heartwarming Brad Paisley's "Waiting On A Woman", featuring the beloved late Andy Griffith.
Journey has a number of romantic ballads that are absolutely beautiful! The official music video for the song “Faithfully”, the live from Houston performance of the song “Open Arms” and the song “When You Love a Woman” are extremely popular videos of theirs! They have Many hit songs and the lead singer, Steve Perry has been known as ‘The Voice’ for over 20 years because of the quality, beauty and unique tone of his voice. I'm so glad you finally reacted to this song. I suggested this song a while back. Your brother reacted to it first, and I was sure you would love it also.
The answer to that question is the reason I love this reaction! Take away all bullshit and the emotion of the song and genuine talent is rare now. It's all about production..😊
Kenny and Dolly Parton have some wonderful duets. Also, Kenny and Lionel Richie sang this song together, rather spontaneously, late in Kenny life; the video is on TH-cam somewhere. It was wonderful to see them together. If you aren't familiar with Lionel Richie you have another opportunity. He is a timeless artist.
Soon as I seen the title..Oh Re is gonna love this! Check out "Hello" by Lionel Richie who wrote this song. He has a ton of hits with the Commodores and even more after going solo.
Kenny released "Lady" on his Greatest Hits album. That's how much he knew he had a monster hit on his hands. He ruled late 1980 to 1981 and Valentine's Day (2-14-1981) was his. You know every guy bought his girl this album.
Love this song. When I was a kid this came out, and I can remember my mom giving me money for the jukebox, and I could pick songs, but one should be this one. Loved it then. Love it now. The Gambler is another classic by him.
I think I saw this tour in early 1984, at my University, 2nd row floor. It started with the Righteous Brothers, then the Oak Ridge Boys, with Kenny as the headliner on a round stage. Great show, was sold out. (about 14,000 in the Pan Am Center).

Unfortunately, modern feminism is the reason. Today's men are too afraid to speak about women like that for fear of sounding sexist. To say someone is "my lady" offends a lot of women. That's why men don't hold doors for women as much as they used to for example.
