Hi Bouekiel Ohiyo! Thank you for sharing your reflections. Have you come across any information tying the name of Ohiyo to the state of Ohio (O-Y-O) name origin (which looks similar to Oyo)? www.history.com/topics/us-states/ohio
They say the celebration of St. PATRICKS DAY is symbolic of the banishment of the snakes, the snakes representing so called Black People.
@@stoneylive80justice38 black Irish are people with dark hair and dark eyes. It's has nothing to do with skin colour!
@@dunkindeeznutz Black as used in my statement is quite naturally a connotation expression used to express a common sentiment expressed by most as it relates to one's quote in quote identity. You are absolutely right, the word Black is by definition a station that gives way to colors. The so called Black Irish were coppertone people, literally. The hair and eyes are being black as you stated are other characteristics that distinguish them as carbon hued Europeans. My ancestors who would be otherwise known as so called black is also from the Scottish highlands, Ireland, and Britain as described by Mac Ritchie. The fact that it is now being discovered by the mainstream is the truth that needs to examined.
We are in St. Vincent . My Grandmother was a Burke and my father carried the name
I am a Sweeney from S.C. and i have met a lot of Sweeney's from Jamaica. I have a cousin who is a Sweeney and a Burke.
My family name is McAlpin. My ancestors from the USA but I found a person in Jamaica with the exact same surname. Another man with the surname mcbean and he said his house of royalty was related to me and he was from Jamaica.
Look into 1746 Jacobite rebellion thry sent 150 black Irish to Monsert Jamacia by General Cromwell and they were mostly workers of the royals and some of thr royal bloodlines and yes they was black
I wish I had more resources to learn about my surname "Burke."
I believe that the moving around was to confuse. further promoting that people who are are of a darker hue are only from Africa when that is not the case if you research everywhere indigenous people are a darker hue but to promote their sick twisted agendas they mixed people up so that way the originals would never fight for there lands. The most recent proof of this is the Papua islands right now those indigenous people are fighting for their land while the world is still asleep on the fact that we don't all come from Africa we're all from different tribes
I address everyone with my father's surname as family. It doesn't matter the race. We call each other family.
Fascinating topic! Thank you for taking the time to share such informative and educational information. Peace.

I have always believe that the Irish and Italians were the last countries to "white wash" the lands and people. I think this is the reason the UK immigrants treated them indifferent in the beginning. They were the last to be accepted as White.
What do you mean "white wash"?? You can't white wash something that was always white
I believe it because it's a document book I saw a long time ago and they said that they were never seen as white they later changed them to be accepted to white so they can cause division but at first the white people harassed them until the change
@@kayamor7678 we were never seen as human! Not white.
Irish people in particular have very different culture to the rest of Europe and were seen as animals to some of the colonial nations.
We have an ancient history and lots of it is documented.
So this bull of white washing you speak of is just racist muck!
I knew the Irish were sent to the colonies into slavery, but, the people don't know they were black. The British colonial Government does.
The white Irish, were sent as a penance, the we're not slaves, and could work their way up to plantation overseers ect...
I'm afraid the name Smith could have come from anything. It's far too common to nail down.
Thank you!! Very informative!!!!
Hi!
Thank you for sharing your reflections.
Thank you for this very informative video post. I have watched another video dealing with a similar subject in which you extensively broke down Childish Gambino's 'This Is America' video explaining the various caricatures and their relation to Irish history. Are you able to reshare the video as I am unable to locate it in your channel so I can show it to my wife who is Irish. If you could please repost it that would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Very shocked to see Henry [ my last name].. my father's lineage st John's Antigua.. 😳
It's the second story & don't know how any1 could do that 2 such a beautiful young boy just bee-cause of Melanin u can hardly sea/ 10:06 his name is Noah & this 1 dis-turbed me deeply as my Mamas peeps came from County Cork. nuff said bout that.
...thank Dr. McCarthy--this was extremely informative!
My sister is researching our family line at this time. Paternal line reveals strong Irish roots from "white" great grandfather who name was W.H. Edmondson (family in states of MS, TX, OK) also my father's paternal grandmother's side the surname is McClain.
I do have a question: is it possible to claim Irish citizenship in this case of having 100% "white" great grandfather though he was born in U.S.? Thank you again for such a clear and concise overview of our history! Cheers & Blessings DH
Great video I did not know thank you
Much respect. Great work....
Hi!
Thank you for sharing your reflections.
I am a Sweeney and i have relatives that are Hall's, Ross's and Riley's. Also Burke's.
Hi Tony Sweeney!
Thank you for sharing your reflections.
Hello Tony Sweeney your surname is scottish and originated from the original clan MacSween (surname) who had a castle in Scotland. My mothers surname is Sweeney. Greetings from the Emerald Isle.

Good use of the comment section.
Best to you both.
Interesting. I remember people always asking me why, as a black female, is my last name Riley. I would always get the "are you Irish question?". DNA tests actually say I am part Irish too. Now, My grandmother said the (white) Irish were in Jamaica and treated the black people very poorly. My ancestors left the islands and went to Panama to build the Canal (willingly or not? I don't know). I'd love your thoughts on this. I've questioned whether I should celebrate all parts of my heritage but, I cant if it's another typical story of a black person side being stripped of individuality/whitewashed leading to me.
Joseph J Williams seems like an interesting character. He wrote about Hebrews in Western Africa too. He was educated in Boston College and came to Jamaica as a Catholic missionary. There were different classes of Irish sent to the Caribbean. Rich and poor and both Catholic and Protestant. Cromwell would have been fiercely anti Catholic. Also it is important to note that some of the children sent to the Bahamas may have witnessed their parents being slaughtered in Cromwell’s recon quest of Ireland.
Hi DOC!
Hi John Horse!
My surname is McDaniels. My great grandmother's maiden name was Reilly. I know that I have some Celtic ancestry. My father always said that we had Scottish ancestry but it could be black Irish.
