I'm really enjoying your content .. rather than just listing the procedure steps for each kind of bombing, you manage to explain what is really going on behinde that procedure, in term of the Tomcat systems involved and why they work the way the do ... I learn much better this way. Now I have to practice this :) ... you make it seems easy, but I'm sure it is not :D
All your videos are amazing. Interesting to hear how the equipment was utilised by real crews. At first I could not figure out how it was so accurate. An airfield is a large area. If you designate a part of an airfield any inaccuracy will be carried over to the target. But then I realised you dropped a laser guided bomb and the FAC lased the target. My question is.....would that method be employed with dumb bombs. And if so how. I would imagine it was installed in the F-14B before laser guided bombs where a thing.
I noticed you used the LANTIRN at angels 27 but I have heard that we can't use the pod at this altitude because it would set on fire, is that true ? and is this modeled in DCS?
FalconMasters hmm. Definitely not modeled. I believe the current version of the LANTIRN is spec’ed to 40,000 feet. Not sure what earlier versions may have been limited to.
Had some very interesting info on the Fighter Pilot Podcast as far as that radar. The NFO said those scopes were so old and had image burn in them that they were almost unusable. As a AT did you have any experience with that? Thanks for all these vids it is very much appreciated.
Thanks! Yeah, one of the main reasons to have to change a TID was for burn-in. Most of the gripes were that the numbers would all look like 8's and everything would run together when the brightness was turned down at night.

In the book Black aces high they mention this problem was fixed. Only early on as I understand.
