When you think about it, it's amazing how humans can build something so large and complex like this. Just think of all the technical things involved in designing and putting all these parts together.
S Haddad plus all the pieces you see them putting together being brought from other places miles away! Everything needs to be accurately measured in order for it to fit! It is pretty amazing what is humans can do!
HAT is OFF...OFF is HAT... these guys are crazy...excellent planning, marvelous management, pure engineering, sheer co-ordination, f***ing hardwork and above all the WILL to do the impossible..i just hope that it can stand the forces of nature and also falls in the hands of some smart asses..who know how to steer away from those icebergs ;)
And that's just the vessel itself. Imagine the interior - the miles of cabling, the plumbing, cabin designs etc. - it's total genius. I just wish we - humanity - would catch a grip and apply all that skill and ingenuity to solving the fundamental problems - world hunger, clean drinking water for all etc. - we can do it no bother when you look at this, we just need the will and the mindset.
Great video, thanks a lot. I have such a keen interest in ship construction but this video made me realize how ignorant i am. I had no idea entire segments of the ship were created in another place then fitted later like a massive jigsaw peace.
+Matt Andrei Silo Not exactly. The "Gross Tonnage" is the overall internal volume of a ship, not the weight. The weight of a ship is called "Displacement". The loaded displacement (total weight) of this ship will be about 110,000 - 120,000 tons.
+Gnome Reginam You have to consider the full picture. a meter doesn't seem much, but add a meter in lengh, by 66 meters in width and all that will shoot dozens of meters in hight, and you have hundreds of tons on the scale.... length is one thing. Weight is another. Harmony is the biggest in tonnage, not necessarily in length
***** Okay, I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. :) I think I'm just a bit bitter because I'm from Finland where Oasis and Allure were built. But I will most likely still learn to love Harmony just like I love those two. :3

I work in a shipyard where we repair, clean and add onto ships and it’s very interesting watching them come together.
How big are they in person
I can now tell my friends, I saw the "Harmony of the Seas" being built...
Have you seen Oasis and Allure being build without youtube?
@@1011340 well I've been on all and seen photos on the bridge...
With me from Barcelona June 2016 !!! can't wait !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Enjoy

+OllieTheAwesome if the titanic when through it instead of trying to turn it would have made it with minimal to moderate damage.

GAZArts hi there. merry Christmas to you and your family have a good day.
Neotorious Cruises hi there. merry Christmas to you and your family have a good day.
No Name Have very Merry Christmas to you too!
It depends on the size, builders and budget and how urgently they need it in the ocean
I would never have thought it was put together in sections. I thought the entire frame was built, then fitted with everything else. Pretty nifty
adam feder That is how all ships are built nowadays. It's safer, cheaper and takes less time.
Imagine being able to watch the Titanic be built like this
it would be kinda different
I so badly want to go on this ship iv fell in love with it 😂lol
what a great leap sailing from steamship to these classical beauties ,i have seen and witnessed first hand a dream for me.
I am thinking of building one.wish me luck👍
Last night at the date 24-05-2016 , this lovely lady left us,Rotterdam in the Netherlands , it was great to see her .

This construction method was first used ww2 building liberty ships. The unitized Lego module system.
I miss the days when these ships were built on proper launch slips and sent down the ways when launched NOT floated out of a dry-dock.
How long did it take to build this behemoth ship?
Six 419 it can take anywhere from 3 months up to a year this one took about 3-5 months

Made in St-Nazaire, in France, by a corean compagny.

Symphony Of The Seas Is Oasis 4 Which Will Weigh 230,000 Tons

I don't understand the coin laying thing, where are they putting the coins and why?
S Haddad coins?
the coins laying are all about tradition. Every ship built has them as a "farewell" gesture
720p en 2016, serieux?
Guys, who is bigger, symphony of the seas, or harmony of the seas?
sabdrini symphony
I want to sail on Symphony of the Seas on 2019.

What Symphony?
+Danish Iftikhar Mozart - Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
The biggest cruise ship on this planet... It's funny because it's only about a meter longer than Allure and Oasis.
+Gnome Reginam yes +2meters as Oasis and 1meter as Allure, but more internal volume , more comfort and better fuel efficiency...
+Gnome Reginam You have to consider the full picture. a meter doesn't seem much, but add a meter in lengh, by 66 meters in width and all that will shoot dozens of meters in hight, and you have hundreds of tons on the scale.... length is one thing. Tell me an area of solar panels needed to propel this floating city. Now nuclear is OK, but civilian nuclear ships are so taboo.
its a ship built in the 21st centry its going to be clean and enviormemtal friendly

And in 10 years, it will be scrapped. lol
Nah, their ships from the 80's and 90's are still going strong, they just get refurbished every once in a while.
It's usually the engines that pack it in. On most ships they can't be replaced or have heavy maintenance because they are inaccessible. Obviously azipods don't have that problem. Not sure about the generators and engines driving them though.
Modern cruising ships typically have a lifespan of more than ten years, typically 20-30 years I believe.
Guests have to pay extra for all attractions. Imagine if a fire breaks out on such a ship. Uncontrollable. 9000 people dead. More than on WTC.
It's cool but it seems like a waste of natural resources to build such a monstrosity.
Jakisuaki A lot of the materials used were recycled, I think.
Jakisuaki yhea it is a lot of ressources even if if a lot of recycled material is used
