He did report them missing in order to appear concerned they hadn't returned so the next logical step would be to ask friends, family, and neighbors if they heard or saw anything suspicious. Including checking cameras.

@@denben8530 Yes. With this case it seems like there is overwhelming evidence and maybe the defense knows that they can't create reasonable doubt. However, he would seem less evil/more insane/passive if it was presented as the idea of his uncle. There must be reasons why they didn't jump on it other than just missing it. Curious to find out...

It would be horrifying and deeply traumatizing, in hindsight, to relive sitting alone in that kitchen with that killer knowing what he was capable of and recalling that visceral feeling of danger because that is really why she put that distance between them.

I couldn’t believe Chandler’s response to the detective saying I’m sorry about what’s going on. Chandler replies something to the effect of-is what it is. I would be a crumpled heap on the floor in tears and when not crying, I’d be going 24/7 doing everything I possibly could to help. Krista and Bart seemed like great people, very good parents. Chandler hurt so many people with his selfish act but as long as he didn’t have to own up to no job, no school, that’s all that mattered to him.

I can understand a person lying defensively (ie if you tell the truth it will cause you to be in trouble) BUT This was a lie to impress. My friend split up with him--good. I guess the person you were dating was afraid you would look him up, so he didn't give real name? When I was young, that wasn't possible. Life was simpler back then but unless you hired a Private Detective or knew the cops it was hard to know anything about anyone. How did you find out he was lying?

He paints his father as being a hothead that everyone has to walk softly around because he gets in a foul mood and won't speak to anyone and you just have to stay away from him until he gets over whatever is bothering him. I never heard anyone else say Bart was that kind of person and it's really sad that only his son seems determined to make everyone think the very worst of his father. I guess Bart really ticked him off by calling the school and proving his lies!

I think it's similar to the Joel Guy Jr. case. They both had well off parents willing to help but preferred murder because of the added bonus of insurance money. Why fess up and risk exile or having to work when they could roll the dice and possibly come out hundreds of thousands of dollars richer? I recently read a qoute from a homicide detective who was questioned on why he thinks people believe they can get away with murder. He said that they're all arrogant and think they can beat the odds and get away with it.

I get that he has no “incentive” to plead out in this case, but especially since the death penalty isn’t an option, I don’t understand why he’d rather drag this out with a trial. The evidence is overwhelming, there’s literally NO defense, and he just looks like more of a monster with every bit of information, testimony, & evidence. The fact that he’s putting everyone through this with literally NO benefit just shows him as even more of a monster.

Why Chandler thought to say his dad packed a large amount of cash is beyond me. Did he not think how out of character that would be for his father? Bart and Krista clearly had a loving and supportive group of friends that they spent time with frequently, and who have a comprehensive understanding of their lives. They would immediately notice any inconsistencies with each of their behaviors.

I have given this some thought and I concluded that perhaps Chandler went in and emptied out the safe and attributed it to his father just in case Mitchell knew how much money should be there but is no longer there. We all know how strapped Chandler was for cash because he seemed too lazy to work and one of these videos includes a place where Chandler asked Cat for five dollars so he could get something to eat and drink. If he's begging his girlfriend for five bucks, four thousand dollars must have seemed like a HUGE amount to him and I don't think he would hesitate to steal it out of his father's safe. After all, he knows very well that his father will never notice it's gone.

I think his actions were premeditated; He'd been stewing for quite some time also there might of been some sibling rivalry as his brother was more successful & independent in his pursuits compared to his lifestyle as a dupe .Garnering sympathy from anyone or any situation until his parents finally caught on . I wouldn't be surprised if he threw himself down the stairs as a way to manipulate his failed attempts of control when he was clearly out of control. I think it's interesting that everyone spoke so well of Bart and Krista and in fact the only one who couldn't find a kind word to say about Bart was our boy Chandler. Doesn't know who the detective on the case is. Doesn't seem to know anything that could be of help. Even simple things that most adult sons would know about their parents.
I don't blame the defense for their lack of cross examination in this trial. Most of this testimony so far has been Lego testimony. Small blocks, each pretty simple with little room for interpretation. Like Lego they will later be used in building the Prosecution's case for Chandler's guilt.

As someone that works mostly at home, I always keep an eye out for things that don't belong on our dead end. I think I would have for sure knew something was up by smoke from the chimney in July. If 2 people were missing, I think I would get the clue.

Amen. I love my son, a condition of living in my home was working. At 17 he refused and was escorted to the door. He’s now 36 and a very responsible hard working
son/husband/father. My family were upset with me because he was what everyone considered to be a good child.

I don’t get the comment on the roaming charges either, there’s a setting in your phone to do that for you. It’s called airplane mode!

    • @roastedpepper
      @roastedpepper ปีที่แล้ว

That’s what he means. He’s using that as an excuse as to why his parents phone weren’t reachable. Because airplane mode or turned off, calls would still go straight to VM.

A very common trait im seeing in alot of these witnesses both those who knew the couple for a long time and those who were just neighbors...none of them believed Chandler. Chandler really thought he had them all fooled but no one actually believed him, they were all suspicious...enough to the point where he was being recorded.

It's a shame Fmr Det. Linsmeier retired.. his manner of questioning is impeccable.. and i get the sense he fires up his skills the more he talks with the perp.. reminds me of Mr Monk (without the OCD) when he gets back into his groove. Sounds like a great neighbour.. any dog lover is a friend of mine.

Good information from these witnesses. Classic cop interview haha. Acts like its the end of the conversation then pulls ‘em back with another question. 😆
