Just read the history of this band I think it's a wonderful program and I see why their style is so much like SU Dr.Greggs (RIP) helped est them good jobs students from Louisiana....

I absolutely loved everything about this performance everything was good and polished. if I had one critique it would be that arrangement of baby baby baby ive heard some better arrangements but that version was ok. but awesome job
For The Record FOREST BROOK was the first to EVER play VIBE back in 1995! Sad so many bands are behind
So for my first year on the Dance Team at my school their instructor came & showed us this dance for our fieldshow 😐😂 i cant believe that this is their dance ! i like to be original & if we're doing someone elses dance i feel as if we are not authentic. This year im captain & I hope she doesnt teach us one of her old dances with no technique like she did my first year 😶 she's a great teacher,awesome at that,but we need technique & creativity!

I thought this was SU at first lmao. I have a question, why don't HBCU (and HS Marching Bands that copy this style) Drum Majors not ever direct the Bands during these Field Shows?? I only ask as I was a Head Drum Major in HS and College....way back in the day lol.....and that was 1 of my most favourite things to do.
Orinthian is right that was my crab bro from 1994- 98 at the Brook and at PV.
But We were the only band in Houston that made TSU give it up. We went down to Southern that year and sweeped the boys in every thing from flags all the way to drumline... man these people better do they home work. We were getting penalties against our own football team because we were too damn loud. oh let me get on i have audio tape from the BOTB from Southern and they said it they selves..... the battle is over. we ripped every one a new one. all we needed was to have Southern come out and battle we were ready and would not have beat them but we would have been on they ass. DEC 98 all day

Uhh you do know what LLI is right? A high school mass band in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.... UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MR. NATHAN HAYMER. Of course were a carbon copy of Southern. :)
my band does its own thing...we have different intros every season (Milford Mill Academy Marching Band)
I feel that. That's actually pretty cool. But the back bend is like Southern's signature. So for any bands that model after them, it becomes their's too.

Perfectly ok for a High School to copy SU. But these college band doing it is marching band plagiarism. Plain and simple.
That is LLI they are partnered with Southern University Band and the directors at southern are their directors

I just was pointing out that's it's perfectly OK for High School level bands to copy a college band but not ok for one college to copy another one.

who the fuck is forest brook? are you a bitter alumni or something. I'm sure this band doesn't know or care about them. And for the record Southern played Vibe in 1992 so that proves your point irrelevant.. It's on youtube as well check it out..As far as wanting to be like Southern,, uhh Louisiana Leadership Institute is literally right down the street from Southern and the Head Band director is Nathan Haymer who is Southern's assistant director and the rest of the staff including percussion and instructors are all alumni of SU.. They are preparing the kids for SU since LLI is a feeder to Southern so what do you expect.. Smh..

Forest Brook was the Best Band in TEXAS from 1974-1999. Willowridge was the biggest band in Texas but lack the Power of Forest Brook! Forest Brook won Southerns first ever battle of the Band in 1996 over Carrol and St Aug. but Sad they lost Power after 2000 when Smiley Came with it and a Certain Band Director from southern was left alone with them at The Brook! Forest Brook adv from 140-215 Band Members (horns only) through out the 90's. Hate that most of the Film on them is Gone or Too Old for Social Media

mr Reed was from Southern but Forest Brook had the most Students to go to Southern University from Texas and all were legends. yes they dont exist no more but in the 1900's NO ONE WAS MESSING WITH THEM! St Aug, Mac 35, and Smiley all got Beat by the Brook! learn your history
