This hits hard. I worked in a grocery store for four years and listening to the same godawful pop songs over and over, eight hours a day is legitimately bad for your mental health. There are songs I used to actually enjoy that I can never listen to again because I have a Pavlovian response to associate them with worst days of my life.
It's been 3 years since your comment but holy shit you captured what i'd been feeling after working retail while studying. It unironically made me despise Christmas because the shop I worked at had like 4 songs on loop, 24/7 for the entirety of December.
This was something that drove me crazy when I worked at a pizza place. I worked a morning to mid afternoon shift and didn’t get many customers, just did meal prep all day for the afternoon shift guys. I would just be forced to listen to the same three songs on repeat every day. So painful. It actually drives you crazy
great clip, reminded me of how fun this show in particular was so fun. Especial fondness for Richard ripping the song apart while having it playing in the background, and how Sam put it on to play the show out in the outro
this is exactly why even years removed from workin @ Supercheap Auto i consider that on-repeat drum pitter-patter intro into the electric keys of Rockwell's "Somebody's Watching Me" a borderline Psy-Op to test employee psychological fortitude
Just finding out about Richard's stuff outside of csgo and i've been missing out, opinions have never sounded so relatable and stories so chuckle worthy. Thanks for the Entertainment Richard Lewis!
I worked in a hotel, with a bar. They had 1 CD to play. For 2 years I listened to R.E.M.'s Greatest hits album. Eventually I snapped and broke the CD. I get physically ill when I hear Losing My Religion today.
The fancy steak restaurants where my family used to go when we were kids had like jeep and regional hotel advertising between the entreés and the strong courses section XD
The factory I work at uses songs to announce when a specific machine is down. Sometimes I hear cat scratch fever for hours on end... If it was toto's Africa I don't think I'd have lived to tell the tale
Holy shit. I swear to god, I told all my coworkers that the constant loop of the worst 8 pop songs from the last 10 years was one of the worst parts of working in retail
Went to a restaurant this summer that had one of those QR-Code menus due to the Rona and it legit had popup ads over the menu. The RL-dystopia is proven once again and i fucking hate it.^^
So long as i have no one depending on me, there is no chance in hell i will ever work retail again. I will live on the streets and still turn down that job offer. Fuck retail.
worked as a butcher/meat clerk in a grocery store and it seriously was the most shit job ive ever worked. i worked during the early days of the pandemic when everyone was rushing for beef and shit and i almost went apeshit. do not recommend

Never knew Redeye sang corporate music haha!
Idk why but I also got trouble believing Sam had a job ever

When I worked in a coop in my small town the fucking frozen song was about every 30-60 mind I nearly lost my mind.

I remember hearing this when it originally came out and didn't think much of it. Hits a lot harder now I've been working retail for a year

That is absolute torture man I’m sorry
Sagat's Funk Dat is a great song about what Richard is describing, and Beavis and Butthead reacted to it too, which was funny.

I was thinking the same thing while editing this

I wouldn't wish Slade on any Guantanamo Bay occupant.
Is it a coincidence youtube starts to recommend Richard's clip channel shortly after the sponshorship with Rivalry ended? I don't think so.
