    This is beautiful, Eric.
    As a 29 year old dad, im currently living and learning the things you're talking about.
    More importantly though, is the fact that a lot of young men need to hear this in the way you presented it. Thank you for the humily and love you put into this.
    Thanks for leading by example.

      Probably the biggest relief you can experience in your life is to realize that you absolutely don't have to be anyone or obtain anything special at all, it's just an external expectation from parents and society. Basic necessities are relatively easy to get, everything else is just desire. I'm not saying you have to be a hermit, but I know the consuming feel of anxiety that comes from worrying about our future - set goals but at the same time take it easy, nothing in life matters more than having peace of mind - and that doesn't cost a single penny.

    Love it dude! The most helpful thing for me in growing my net worth was to stop overthinking it, and automate as much as possible. If I have to consciously invest part of my paycheck every week/month, it’s easy to ease up and not invest as much or as often. But if money gets automatically invested before I get a chance to even think about spending it, then I can budget accordingly and not be as prone to frivolous impulse purchases. This stuff is crucial, great content as always $$$

When I started, I started both a corporate and weddings filmmaking businesses under separate names. My corporate far outweighs the weddings. 6th years in now and acquired a 100k budget for a 60 minute charter school documentary. The corporate work is just so much more profitable.

    Assets minus liabilities meaning your condo is worth $305k and so you subtract $197k you owe. What you did was took your net equity and then subtracted the $197k again so essentially you subtracted your mortgage balance twice. Your net worth is over 200k if you account for your mortgage balance only once.

    So you like talking about this, I have been a long haul truck driver for close to nine years. Currently piloting super loads. So my net worth at thirty one single and no house but zero debt. Around $130,000.00 banked $40,000.00 of that in RSP. 2017 Mazda 3 paid $20,000.00 cash this year. Precious metals around $4,000.00. Dive gear around $20,000.00. I just bought a rebreather. Camera gear around $3,000.00. Critical care life insurance with a pay back after 20 years I believe not sure how much is in that right now. But payout is $40,000.00 doubles I believe if I die at work. I did that just incase I would have any loose ends in my life they would get taken care of. 17 Countries, 44 States and 8 Provences she has been one crazy journey.

    @rickywest7689 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video, here’s to the algorithm and also my unrequested feedback in case it helps you. I was formerly a financial advisor and sold both forms of life insurance. You’re correct about what you mentioned about Whole Life insurance, and yet there’s parts you may not be aware of. You can in fact borrow interest free as long as you pay it back, and let’s assume you do.. that’s great. What you may not know is you are paying more for that ability.
    If you die, that money is given to NWM, not your family... you get either the cash value or the death benefit. Not both. The money in that cash value has fees taken out from the investment performance, and if you do the math on the true return of your money with fees taken out (fine print of your policy) the return is truly between 1-2.5% ... a pretty poor investment in my opinion.
    Let’s use the example of if you had a term life policy.. much cheaper, and put the leftover money into a savings account making 0% interest.. you would still have a greater return through the monthly price difference of whole life and the term policy, plus the benefit to be able to borrow from yourself, without any terms of HAVING to pay it back or else you’ll be charged interest... you will be a nicer banker to yourself than NWM...
    Option 2, you get a term life policy, and stick the difference in a High yield savings account, where you can get 2-2.5% interest guaranteed, no extra costs, same flexibility to borrow against with no interest and also save money from having a cheaper policy
    Option 3, you take the difference of the whole life and term policy, probably $200/month I’m guessing, and place that in the market and average 7-10%, with the same flexibility as aforementioned with no fees if you put it in the proper brokerage account.. (ask TD Ameritrafe)... plus you save the $200 (estimated) per month..
    All in all, the whole life policy costs the most, has the worst return, and gives you the least flexibility... but the commissions to your insurance agent is 10x what a term policy costs.... but what do I know? I used to work for NWM in Dallas...
    I’m not here to bash anything, just give you clarity on your “investment insurance”
    If someone can prove me wrong, please try... I’ll wait.

    • @EricFloberg
      @EricFloberg  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for the advices Eric! Really valued info. I am not an expert either but I feel like over some time (and you did mention) you can buy another smaller condo and rent it out, would be a great investment as well!

      Everyone makes progress in their own time when coming unique circumstances, progress & experiences. Being behind doesn’t make a difference as long as you continue to move forward. Ever heard of the tortoise & the hare? Keep going!

      This is just hypothetical, and conditional.
      His net worth might be more than you but he might have to pay more mortgage, debt and living expenses since he has a family. And who knows what might happen in the future which might cost him money.
      It all depends. So try not to compare yourself with him or others. Consider this as an insight.
      If you are living your life at the fullest and wherever life would take you, that would be where you belong.

      Hey Andrew, 31 is wildly young. Please know that. I'm honestly so stoked for my 30s. I'm convinced it's when the majority of us will come into our own and really get better and hone in on what we do. Keep your head up. I may be 29, but I'm 60 at heart hahaha That attitude is always going to work well for you financially! :)
