Interlude Black Iris was my first Amouage purchase. I started with a sample, and when I wore it I had to have a full bottle. Amouage has top notch presentations from the bottles to the boxes. And this stuff is certainly unique. Love it!
I enjoy Mr.Hughes' reviews. He describes the fragrances and not just give his opinion. Plus unlike some other reviewers he doesn't tell you " you should buy this because I say so" . Will always watch .
My wife who is Japanese says it smells like a temple. There is something about this fragrance that keeps me engaged and going back to my arm. That journey for me is so incredible. By the way, could you do a video about how you got into perfumery with a chemical background? I teach chemistry in high school and love the organic side of the science. Would be fascinating
I was on the fence with this one because Interlude Man was extremely difficult to wear unless it was for a specific situation....and was expensive. I picked up a sample of Black Iris and smelled 99% like Interlude Man. But the iris started to shine in the dry down and made me weak in the knees...much like your Homme does!! I’m a sucker for a good iris frag and this fits the bill for me!! Great video....always enjoy them!

The first niche fragrance I ever bought was Interlude Man. I think the name and blue bottle is what attracted me to it. It completely blew away all the other fragrances I had, which were almost all designer EDT's at the time. I personally love it and now I have a lot of EDP's from Amouage and others. Buying that bottle probably cost me a lot of money in terms of all the buys I've had since smelling it lol. Will also be getting Interlude Black Iris!
If you love Tom Fords Tuscan Leather, you will love this also, they are different yet similar in the leather notes, only one goes raspberry fruity, while this one goes smokey, buttery, vanilla. I really enjoy both but like this one a bit better.

I purchased 2 ath fragrances for the first time last week. Wow wow wow, they are both amazing. My only disappointment is that every other fragrance I own smells less amusing ever since I recieved my order from aaron, ath is simply that good, Kudos!!👏
That’s very kind. Each fragrance takes about 8-12 months to go from initial concept to finished fragrance. So a lot of hard work and lots of testing and redesign till it’s perfect
I'm a big fan of a lot of the Amouage fragrances much like the Roja lines. I prefer the original Interlude but do like this one. On a slightly more interesting note; Aaron, I now have SLUT and Blood Orange and absolutely love them. Thank you making them. I have now also ordered a few more (Zeus, Daddy, Alpha Man, Boss Bastard and Ambre Extreme so more than a couple) I am truly looking forward to wearing them. 💪🏻🦄👍🏻

Stunning. And while it is marketed for men, I (not a man) wear it too. People stop on their tracks for it. I believe it has a good amount of naturals in it because it smells somewhat different on my husband.
I 100% agree with the amouage perfumer brain dna comment in the beginning. I felt the exact thing while smelling a discovery set of the tauer house in my mind I connect some dots between completely different fragrances. So cool that I shared a similar thought with a proper perfumer lol

Amouage is a stand alone quality house. Not really my brand and smells but I appreciate the quality and olfactory concepts. Great review as always. Is it possible you can review Chopard Black Incense Malaki? That is really a strange fragrance with a fascinating complex blend of naturals and synthetics. Greetz.

If you compared this to the original Interlude Man by Amouage you would definitely notice how the Iris smooths this fragrance out. The original is pretty brutal and very incensey, I could only see myself wearing the original to church or for Christmas but other than that I wouldn’t wear it. But yes I love the Black Iris version
I've not smelled the Black Iris flanker.. but the original Interlude is a gorgeous incense monster. Journey Man has a beautiful incense and smoke vibe.. but Jubilation XXV (Man) is the king of Amouage for me. Air should just smell like Jubilation XXV. (As a rose lover, you should definitely try Lyric Man, if you haven't already.)

As with many of Amouage fragrances, don’t smell this one right against the nose. This scent shines in the projection and sillage. I feel if your nose is too close, it comes off a bit too sweet overpowering. Keep this in mind as your mileage may vary.
I wear it to bed, this will most definitely open up nasal pharyngeals. Relaxing Arabic Incense with some vanilla… great for meditation or Bars and Billiards.
I know i dosent have ennything to do w The perfume, but Aron looks very masculine but his aura and vibe is soft sensuell and asexuell , makes it a real Joy to watch

Just bought this! When the aftershaves wears you instead of you wearing the aftershave 😅 80% of my brain loves it 20% of my brain just wants to shut off and move away from this smell. Very interesting overall! DO NOT BLIND BUY
I bought this fragrance a few days ago i am not saying it is bad because it is definitely high end niche well blended, amazing projection and long lasting but after a while, it's too intense and smokey in all honesty it's to over the top
How are you finding it now? That intense smoky incense is why I bought a sample. I'm smelling it now, and it's intriguing. I almost wish it was a bit smokier, though. I'll wait for the dry down. I've only been wearing it for 20 minutes. It's definitely not a crowd pleaser... it's too soon to tell, but I really like it. My god it's strong.

Sweeter, less dry than the original. I’d say you don’t need to own both. The original before they introduced the magnetic cap is incredible. I sprayed it onto a blanket stored it in the linen closet, weeks later I took it out and the scent was still going. It makes me think of a sexy, elegant man, who knows what he wants.
I totally agree with you, Aaron; the name does not suit the way it smells. I too think it has a very sexual, fetish smell to it. It’s dark and individual. I’d call it “Dominance” or “Kink Noir” or something like that. And have a black phallic-looking bottle, of course. 😈

its watered down to nothing..no projection, no sillage, no balls..sorry..most divine scent, kept 4 inches away from skin..so sad

I have Himalayan Cedarwood oil which is smoky woody and super intense. I love Birch instead of fake synthetic leather. Birch smells amazing.

For £260 for 100ml you would expect that it would be next level in terms of performance and uniqueness!

Interlude and Interlude Black Iris are the only fragrances I like from Amouage.. Interlude is a bit in your face but Black Iris is subtle.
If you like interlude, you should like Overture man too, if you didn't sample it, do it

I’m an interlude fan and an interlude 53 fan but I’m not keen on this one.

I totally agree with you, Aaron; the name does not suit the way it smells. I too think it has a very sexual, fetish smell to it. It’s dark and individual. I’d call it “Dominance” or “Kink Noir” or something like that. And have a black phallic-looking bottle, of course. 😈
