In that old track plan of yours with a reversing loop at each end, the Huckleberry Railroad's mainline is set up that way with a reversing loop at both ends, but in model railroading, I like doing my mainline as ovals where the trains run in continuous loops
Yup. Simpler. But once I had this working I could pull a locomotive out of the shop, head out onto the mainline and go over to the barbecue and just let the train run. And for hours the train would disappear into the trees and then reappear and all I needed to do was flip the burgers 😊.
I understand how it works and why you do that it's the wiring that I get lost in. One day I think I will understand how to wire it that will be a great day. Thanks for getting me closer to being able to do it. GOD BLESS 🚂💖🚂💖🚂💖🚂💖
Hi Dale! Thank goodness my future layout won't be that complicated, just simple Dog bone loops everywhere with long engine and car sheds on the straight tracks incase of hail and high winds that day!! Double tracks all the way around so trains can pass each other in opposite directions. Mining and logging trains in the inside sharper curves & passenger trains on the wider/ outer tracks. I may have the nonpassenger tracks dip down below the passenger line for more interesting drama!! This is for a more interest for those who park at my Nomad Retreat!! I'm calling my Park: LOCO HOBO🤗!!! What do you think, catchy name?
Hi , I am subscribed but have not viewed your posts for a while , but I just watched the video about the reversing loop , and found it quite interesting ! I have a question which has no relationship to this video , but I did not know of any other way to contact you , but the question is train related , and since you are heavily involved in pretty much all things trains , I wanted to know if you know about , something that I saw a few days ago ? That being said , I would imagine that you have heard of , and most likely have been to the laws rail road museum in bishop calif. I remember that they restored old narrow gage southern Pacific no. 18 to full operational condition and removed it from the park in independence Calif. , where it was on display for as long as I can remember , and it was brought to laws , steamed up and run on trackage that they laid down for this purpose ! Any way , I am greatfull that at least got to see this locomotive operating at laws a few years ago , which brings me to my question ! The question is why ( since they spent all the money to restore no. 18 and transport it to laws and run it around our there ) , why did I see a video the other day , where they loaded the locomotive and tender onto two trucks , and returned them from laws back to independence Calif. , and unloaded them and pushed them into a locomotive barn where there is no trackage to run the locomotive ! Why restore something to operate as no. 18 is , and run it at laws as they were doing , then return it back to where it came from years ago ! Have you ever seen no. 18 , and have you heard anything about why it was removed ? I want to know why , it kind of makes me mad that they took it back to the park where it came from ! Are going to return it to the park to just sit there again ? If so , it is a sad thing to see happen !
Great vidio, great track wireing. Thanks for the morning coffee...

It appears that I need to find the LGB manual. I am getting by with the REA controller and I soon hope to upgrade to a better controller.
Tricky. But it’s on line. The link in the description has it. But I can’t post the full link for some reason.
