Wow that's huge losses and stress...I'm so sorry. Will pray for you and hope you will experience great blessings in the years ahead. P.s. I love your channel! Thank you for all your knowledge you're sharing!! ❤️
It's nice that you're able to be sponsored by an organization that you believe in so much and has helped you out. Sorry to hear about your life challenges recently. Thank you for sharing.
Sorry for your losses. My Mom just passed away last Nov., but she was 101 yrs., so this was more expected. Still she was my Mom. One thing I know about traumatic brain injury (husband) is you realy do have to rest the brain to get better and avoid multi-tasking. You really have a lot going on right now, so I am so glad that you have been able to find a therapist that you can talk to. I think this will probably help you. And hopefully sharing will help others as well. 🌷💚
You have the prayers of me and my son. We watch your videos regularly and want you to know you have fans and supporters who support you in whatever way we can.
So sorry to hear of all the trauma you and your husband had to endure, glad you were able to find answers in dealing with all that pain. I think gardening helps me through difficult times. Put a cover crop of clover in my potato bed last fall, was thinking on terminating the clover via solorization, good idea, or bad? Sure hope things get on a even keel for you, and your husband has a full and quick recovery. Stay Well!!!
I'm sorry for everything you're going through. People who want to help themselves always have my respect. And thank you for sharing your knowledge to help others. Helping others is also therapeutic, so I'm hoping it also helps you to know your help is appreciated.
Ugh, you've been through the wringer, Ashley, I'm so sorry! Your authenticity about it is SO important, I know other people are out there that have watched and will watch this and feel less alone. As far as holding out, I have a really hard time with that! But I focus on my indoor plants and early starts for the deck pots to get me through this time of year. I'm also whiling away my time reading up on plant breeding, so I might give that a try this year (maybe with some beans or tomatoes?)
@@GardeningInCanada your very welcome! Really appreciate your videos. I know I feel better out in the garden. Growing seedlings and enough plants to fill out the beds this year is gonna be a challenge! I'll be watching for your support! Thanks
I am so very sorry about the trauma of the past year. Sending planty goodness your way. I have found gardening to be a wonderful balm for my soul. Thank you for sharing your love of expertise of growing things. Sending blessings. ❤

Wow, that's a lot of issues you're trying to deal with. We send you all our best wishes and hope you can handle all the obstacles put in the way of your well-being. So sorry to hear of all traumatic trials you've endured. Mad props to you and your husband for your perseverance. Thank you for being generous enough to give your unsponsored opinions on our agricultural curiosities. You're a 💎 Gem 😁
So sorry for all the losses you are experiencing. Prayers for you and your family. When the itch to grow and garden gets strong like it does this time of year, I usually grow spouts and microgreens inside for the short term yay factor and they are so delicious and healthy! I recently started growing smaller trays of 2 kinds of tomatoes, a pepper variety and 2 kinds of onions from seed to transplant out in the garden end of May for me (typically around the long weekend) here in Southern Alberta. I am resisting the urge to grow more until I get into the greenhouse and we just got a dump of snow here so it will be a little while yet. The snow is welcome though as we desperately need the moisture being in one of those red zones on the Canada map.
I like to overwinter my favourite tomato plant. It is the same plant I bought in 2020. I also use the trimmings to start more plants which I usually end up giving away.
My last frost date is May 4th and today it’s 62 F. Last week we had 18in. of snow. Round one of seedlings are ready to move under more light making room for round two. Otherwise, I sit and twiddle my thumbs as I watch the slowly awaking perennial beds.
Sounds like we live in the same place, I'm guessing. So glad for that snow keeping the fire danger down. Actually, I'm about to start my second set of seedlings, too.
Bless your little cotton socks, Ashley, you certainly have been putting on a brave face for us. I'll add your intentions to my prayers. I'm very happy you addressed the sterilization of soil issue. I keep seeing people pour boiling water on soil, believing they're somehow preventing fungus gnats from appearing, or whatever, yet not realizing that they're killing all the good stuff in that soil, too. Some people will believe anything they see on the internet. Thank you for being a well-educated voice of reason. ~ Lisa
You should do a video on tree fern fiber, I see that popping up a lot now a days, also TPS microcryzal fungi innoculant. Love your videos! So informative
You didn't hurt the little green bird! I'm missing the loud little beast just a little. I've planted root vegetable seeds and letace but think might be too cold for germination, but I've given water . I've had walkways for years and also raised in ground beds with claybase it's working. I tilt almost nothing.
Got my solarization plastic in place on Monday when it was 20degrees (Celsius), now we're under a foot of snow... don't think it will be working for a few days😂 - in the meantime, lots of gardening TH-cam videos and way too much time checking my seedlings while I avoid the temptation to plant things too early! Glad I found your channel, I'm really enjoying the Canadian prairies info!
Things are started indoors, raked up the tops of the beds and mixed the top layer of soil. Probably going to solarize them this year. Found a larva that looked like a grub but it wasn't a grub. No idea what it was.
I do my best to not walk on the lawn but I’m afraid there is lawn between me and the greenhouse. Very wet lawn currently 😟. Question for you: we are moving the raised vegetable beds so I dug out the soil. I kept the amended top soil in a separate pile and will fill the bed bottom with the soil that was at the bottom in the old location. Did I mess up the soil microbiology by digging it all up?
Sending you love and hugs❤️! When do we know we can walk on the soil? We are switching from raised beds to in ground rows with irrigation this year so we have a lot of work to do. Should we just cover crop all the rows for spring, summer and fall to help build the soil back up and aerate it? Thank you 🙏

that is a grass desiccant so it will take out anything in the grass family. Because it is meant to take out grass it won't be engineered to take out broadleaves like clover unfortunately. By setting up dedicated pathways and growing areas within the larger garden. Even if you are growing in ground in a larger garden plot you can plan out where your growing spots/rows will be and only walk in the "pathway"
