Well, the "singing locomotive" is the Siemens ES64 Eurosprinter, which is used by many operators in the world, from Germany's DB, OBB/Ceske Drahy Railjet, to even derivatives of the series like SNCB (Class 18), China Railways (DJ1/HXD1) and Amtrak (ACS-64). *However, not all units can "sing".
Fun fact: On 2 September 2006 the locomotive 1216 025-5 (prior to delivery to ÖBB) set a new world record for conventional electric locomotives, when, during the trials near Nürnberg, it reached a top speed of 357 km/h (222 mph). The locomotive was not modified for the record, making the Siemens ES64 the fastest locomotive in the world.
5:06 Oh and Maxson Goh was with you!
I'm begging Siemens to make a dual-mode version of the Taurus, as it would be PERFECT for the UK.
Both Keikyu 2100, 1000, and Huskies' (JR East) E501 are no longer equip the singing Siemens GTO-VVVF.
Sadly the days of the GTO-VVVF traction systems are numbered.
