Commodores, Ratt, Supertramp... and a cool 'host' and classic system! Very nice Mister Zeek Meister! I'm a huge fan of 'old school' stereo equipment myself, and was just playing my Onkyo M-504 system today! I still have my amp, purchased new in 1986, and 'babied' in mint condition. Still driving my classic Polk Audio Monitor 10 speakers, with a tubed preamp stage (Little Dot MKIII running CBS Hytron tubes from the early 1950's) and an OPPO SACD/CD player. That is just one of my many setups. I'm currently restoring an old FISHER 500C receiver/amplifier, which was my recently passed dad's stereo from the early 60's. My favorite system here is my McIntosh MC162 and Little Dot MKIV preamp running into Magnepan MG12 speakers. BTW, love the doggies! My 'listening partner' is my Border Collie mix, since my wife and daughter are not really into music played at a healthy volume! Talk at you later...
+AudiophileTubes LOL !!! Thanks Tubes !!! you got some heavy artillery goin on there .... im still using my M504 and my Sansui as my main .... I change the speakers up on occasion and I have a tester stereo that kicks pretty good butt !! for that system im using an old JVC JA-S77 ..... its bullet proof !! my next move will be into Tube equipment but its not currently in the old budget but I keep looking for the right deal !! Im also with you on the volume issue .... if the wife and kids are home I might as well read a book ..... when there is no one home but me ..... the neighborhood knows it !!! Thanks for stopping by Tubes !!
+Zeek Meister Anytime Zeek! The pleasure is all mine! The classic Hi-Fi era was a great time for listening to music! Everything was straightforward and uncomplicated, and you actually felt the music on your chest! Regarding tube equipment, there is a company called 'Musical Paradise' that sells affordable, highly rated tubed integrated amps. I am seriously considering one of their amps that goes for between 3 and 400 dollars, but that will have to wait until after my Christmas expenses. Cheers to you!
I purchased a set of Victor FB5 speakers from a guy and he had a bunch of tube gear .... lots of harmon kardon citation and he played the FB5's on an old Pilot tube receiver .... it was magical .... he showed me everything from his parts that just arrived and what he is was building and currently working on .... his basement was an electronics shop ..... he had about 10 different tube projects on the go .... we ended up having a couple beers and talking for hours .... I will be going back to this guy when the time is right for me to go tube ..... Cheers to you From Vancouver Canada Tubes !!
+Zeek Meister I've never heard of the FB5 speakers, but you now have my curiosity peaked! The HK amps had good power reserves! My friend had one back in the 80's, and before he purchased one, he had asked me to bring my Onkyo M-504 over to see how it sounded driving his new Carver Silvers. Long story short, the 504 was anemic! So my friend, who had his amp choices narrowed down to the 504 or the HK Citation, chose the HK. That amp had huge power reserves, and literally blew away the 504! BUT, of course, the 504 is great with higher efficiency dynamic speakers, not hard to drive designs like Magnepan or Carver. Regarding tubes, you may think what I have to say is sacrelige, but many Chinese companies like Yaqin or Little Dot are making some high quality tube equipment 'on the cheap'. Or should I say, much less expensive than the brand names. And best of all, they sound phenomenal! My cousin purchased a $450 Yaqin EL34 tube based integrated amp, and it sounded like an amp that usually costs much more $. Even an old, properly restored tubed FISHER 500C or Scott receiver will sound magical with a good set of speakers. The best part of this hobby is trying out different stuff together, and discovering some great, 'synergistic' matches!
EN INGLES ES , Greetings . First of all congratulations for the channel !!! EXCELLENT !!! your work the one you are doing, I have an Onkyo Digital A-8800 with all the modules of the equipment are Onkyo which are an M504 amplifier sound, with an EQ540 Interga equalizer and another EQ-201 and another EQ-25 and another EQ-140 and one TA-2550 Interga and one TA-2750 Interga and one TA-205 Interga deck and another double deck TA-RW 909 . a CP1500F Interga platter and Ortofon 40 turntable needle and CD DX-708 Interga, and the T-4500 Interga radio, All the models are from the Onkyo brand, which is the best that Onkyo does NOT make mass production if they are not selected from the Onkyo And the cables connected to the equipment are of the KabelDirekt Pro Series RCA brand and 4 DAS R-212 Speakers. and 2 Mivoc hype 10 g2 hifi subwoofers, 300 w, from 20 to 180 hz. IN THE END A CLASSIC OF THE 80S AND 90S of sound equipment of that time, over the years I have never broken any module, that is already seen from how they worked before and the manufacturing materials, I hope to have it duarte, many years for the quality of a good musical team, greetings and very good videos that you have a great like for your great videos, great sound models like these devices are no longer manufactured, it is a pity, that nowadays everything is plastic, greetings from Barcelona - You could do one of Onkyo Interga also of Review - Congratulations to all Onkyo electronics, the Inegra Series was a true excellence. I bring you bad news, for this glorious brand, which made hifi history, these days, Sharp, who recently acquired the brand, announced that the debt is incurable. The electronic audio equipment company Onkyo has filed for bankruptcy, after accumulating debts of US$24 million. Onkyo, founded in Osaka in 1946 under the name "Osaka Denky Onkyo K.K", has failed to position its mainly analog equipment in the streaming era, consequently Onkyo has been declared bankrupt by the Onkyo company. Even if the electronics produced today had nothing to do with the wonderful electronics that it has... A big greeting from Barcelona, Spain,
great score just lovely to see classic hifi -but jamming that heat producing stuff into that cabinet that poor Onkyo ! anyway i would have that with 3 inch clearance minimum anyway great stuff the old gear is much cheaper in the US than Australia
Roy Mindmybusiness thank you for your message ! I did upgrade my stereo rack shortly after this video was taken .... lots of clearance and air flow now !!!
Have u had to change meter bulbs on your 504? I just ordered some green LEDS for mine. Would like to try it myself, but haven't done a whole lot of soldering
its funny you asked this question as I just drooped my 504 off today at the audio shop for a tune up and an LED conversion as my bulbs burned out years ago , I was also going to change my bulbs myself and got ready to do so but I had confusion ordering the bulbs as there was 14v and 14.4 volt and I was told that difference in voltage does make a difference and could cause damage so I bailed as I knew I was going to LED at some point , I have listened to my amp for 7 years with no lights and I get your message well today ... and I just dropped it off ... that's funny
to answer your question it is an easy job ... you will need a soldering gun with a sharp tip as it is a tight spot for soldering and you dont want to cross the board with big globs of solder ... I would suggest removing a bulb and replacing them one at a time them move on to the next one ... also mine only had the lights after the circuit clicks on after power up ... some light up red on power up then turns to green when circuit clicks on ... mine had no red bulbs but there were spots for them ..
Thank you very much !!!! .... I have some time off coming up so I will be re-foaming my Infinity speakers and deoxing the pots in my Sansui .... Im getting some scratch in the volume pot so I might as well do them all while I have it open !! thanks again
Hey buddy I just came across your video I’m actually trying to find That amplifier I actually came across one at a friends house and then a little research so I came across your video because I’m trying to see who’s done reviews on a great review amazing amplifier I have a question as well I’ve never heard of the Internet radio but you have is there a monthly subscription for that and is there one that you recommend thanks for any help and advice oh PS if you want to sell the Onkyo let me know LOL

The internet radio I use is called a Grace Internet Radio .... no subscription and you just hook up to your home wifi ... I highly recommend it ... there are quite a few different styles and well worth the money as I use mine all the time !
Hello Zeek Congrats on your system, I own the Onkyo Integra P-306RS preamp and just bought an M-504 to match to it, I have never used either and plan to use them on a set of B&W 703s I wonder if you consider the M-504 an Audiophile quality Amp and what your experience has been with it so far with the audio quality

I think you will be very happy with your setup !!! th-cam.com/video/0cHUCWMZ82Y/w-d-xo.html

I got one myself yesterday for $25, but its far from mint.. au-999 sounds great though.. Was a lot of work restoring stupid mods from previous owners.. :-) Using it with ej.jordan speakers and seas 10" alu cone bass.
Hello musicsacho , sorry for the delay responding , I would say all you mentioned would be superior in power yet the au999 was top of the line when produced in 1970-71 and was more focused on the audiophile quality than power , not saying the 45 watts per channel in the 999 is insufficient as it does just fine with whatever speaker I hook up to it but I just use it as a preamp to a powerhouse ! the 9900 and 7700 I believe were produced starting in 73/74 and are no slouches and powerful ! , I have listened to a au6900 and it was magical . my 1st big amp purchase was in 1987 and I picked up an AU-X11 , Had it for a few years then started having issues with it . I bought it from some teenagers for a song and when it started acting up I knew I couldn't take it to a shop for fixing as it had a neighborhood watch file number scribed onto the back of it ... its long gone now but I do miss it every day !!
Im thinking I might go look at this .... maybe tonight but I have to make sure it will hold the weight and the top will work right for a turntable with a lid that opens .. vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rds/fuo/4306332455.html
