    Thanks for not getting rid of the chow mein place. I live at the Palace across the street, and I pretty much eat there every day. I'm glad that there's a new bar in town because I keep getting kicked out of the Elbow Room. Well, not so much kicked out, but I'm behind on my bar tab. The bartender seems cool at the new joint, so hopefully, I won't wear out my welcome too quickly. Great job on the renovations, and thanks!

    I've seen a building like the one that you're modelling, and the stairs are enclosed and lead from the back door, and then curve round to the back wall, and lead to the domicile above, which was usually a flat and office. And the bar is open and can only be accessed via the front door. the stairs are a private area that the bar owner had access to via a doorway at the bars end. The backdoor usually led to a yard for storage that had a fence enclosing it, In the UK, we had many shops and local pubs that had the same kind of layout. They were mainly houses that were built during the early to mid Victorian period and were converted during construction into corner shops, pubs or the like. You can see the same thing in New York and Chicago, these were your local shops.

      During the course of this project I got the opportunity to go and goof off for a week in Hammersmith. I got to visit many fine pubs all around London and it definitely gave me a lot of inspiration for this build. I meant to put in a bunch of photos I took on the trip but this video was already getting too long.

    At 53:15, your motorcyclist is gonna get a ticket driving around with a broken head lamp. Just kidding. That shot is truly something and even your new bar already looks smoky inside.

    My first look at your channel too and I am impressed. I particularly liked your 3D printed inserts and details because I think it is the way of the future and have purchased an FDM plus a resin printer of my own. I'm also tossing up making my own buildings, or at least some of them, using a laser cutter.

    Hi, TH-cam randomly gave me your video. I haven’t made train layouts since childhood 40 years ago and it’s cool to see the innovations that are now being used, 3D printing, etc.! Very cool layout you’ve created!

  • @AnneAndersonFoxiepaws
    @AnneAndersonFoxiepaws 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Oh don't start me on even smaller! This looks brilliant! I am already down to 1:18th scale as I can get people and horses and make the rest of my usually medieval scenes. I could see myself getting seriously into 1:48th, especially if the kits are available for the buildings. I would go with the external stairs, I think it fits the period and would help in that they don't have to go through the bar to enter and exit, even if the apartment came with the bar, so to speak, I think external stairs are definitely preferable. If you think that they would have to use the bar keys every time they go in and out, it wouldn't really be feasible, even to the proprietor. I love this model btw, I am already thinking how to do it up, inside and out! I just had to subscribe, told you, hooked already!

    In the late '60's into the '70's my two older brothers had a HO set, with a HO slot car set, together. I remember the gas station had fuel price of $.27.9, leaded. We ran the race track mostly, but making the layout look realistic was always difficult. Grass came on a roll like wrapping paper, and usually fell off as soon as you got it out of the plastic. Now with 3D printing, it is incredible what detail a person can do. I keep wondering how many hours you put into a building, like the bar. In my home town, there's a bar called the Elbow Room. It's been there for 90 years, but some Millennials bought it now, and destroyed all it's character. But I digress. Your buildings look so much better than those you can buy, like the Snow Village, that were popular years ago. Great job! I also like the realism of the "John" negotiating with the hooker outside the bar.

    Wonderful , You have a really great talent . Sure enjoyed your video . Some blinds and/or curtains in the upstairs apartment and a street number in the front door glass above door would help make the building pop a bit more . But it is wonderful the way it is . Keep up the great work . makes this "OLD" man want to do more with my small N scale layout .

  • @revealingfacts4all

    my word, simply fantastic and realistic... I just found this channel by this video. That opening street scene reminds me of Troy & Watervliet, New York. Wow!! That yellow house with the chipped paint, wow, looks just like some of the older homes from that part of NY where I'm from. I can't get over how realistic everything looks. Even the mortar between the bricks, the roads & sidewalks is crazy realistic. That's some serious talent and attention to details.

    There's almost something spiritual about the way you go about your build-bash. Can't imagine the patience it takes to create such art. Just starting to put together my first O scale building kits (no interiors) and I am definitely going to use the spackle mortar tactic v the acrylic wash technique that is recommended so often. Definitely will watch other videos for more tips.

    Thanks for turning off your overhead lighting to get a view of your layout after sunset. Great work. It is quite interesting that you put so much time into your buildings and the grounds, unlike a lot of train heads that focus on their rolling stock, but forget all about the rest of the layout. Do you plan to put any LEDs in the buildings way in the background, behind the tracks?

    I can really appreciate the amount of time invested in this project. I kitbashed a five story HO scale hotel and 3d printed an interior with lighting with both FDM PLA and UV resin prints. Trying to figure out where walls, stairwells, and rooms would be takes a lot of time and imagination. Custom designing furniture, printing and reprinting is labor intensive. Fantastic job.

    I just came across your channel this morning, and am very impressed. I have been in o scale trains for years and have a hanging layout above my shop out in the barn ( because sometimes I don't feel like working) and have 250 feet of track. I really like the 30's era you are doing. I am going to be starting a hydro electric dam here soon. I have a 3d printer like yours but am still learning it. Great job, and am looking forward to seeing more videos.

    Great layout, I had an HO scale layout on a ping pong table and a half but it was difficult to detail the center of the table, I was going to build a mountain out of plaster in the center of the table with track running around it, I had to take it down and box everything up make more room. I am planning on building a new layout on a L or U shaped table now that it is winter, I must have a couple hundred feet of track, 20 different engines and 80 freight and passenger cars along with dozens of HO structures.
