Yes and no. I agree with your general sentiment, but at the same time, they teach you these things day one of your first day of class. "ALWAYS assume your mic is hot" is a common phrase. And all that hard work and time and training that you put into being a public professional you should automatically want to be more careful with mics attached to your body and cameras pointed at you. The bosses are now left with a choice.... is this really the person who should be our public face going forward? Somebody who has gotten too comfortable or relaxed into forgetting to remain professional? And keep in mind, the years of hard work is the same for the long list of people clamoring to take your job.

What utter bullshit he was proven to be correct as #MeghanMarkleIsALiar and has proven to be time and time again! Just to clarify how Illinformed you are may I suggest you read the following read it and weep!
Piers Morgan’s audience tends to be quite broad, spanning various demographics, but there are key characteristics worth noting for both his work on Sky News and his show “Piers Morgan Uncensored.”
      1. Political Viewpoints:
      • Conservative-leaning viewers tend to make up a significant portion of Piers Morgan’s audience, especially in the UK and the US. He appeals to those who prefer a more direct, often confrontational style of political debate. He has been outspoken on issues like free speech, cancel culture, and political correctness, which resonate with conservative viewers.
      • However, he’s also drawn in moderate or even liberal viewers at times because he can be unpredictable and is not strictly partisan, taking strong stances on issues like gun control in the US and criticising both left and right when it suits him.
      2. International Audience:
      • His audience is international, with a strong base in both the UK and the US. His time as a host on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Live” gave him significant visibility in the US, and since then, his outspoken style has continued to appeal to American audiences, particularly on social media platforms.
      • In the UK, Sky News is one of the most-watched news outlets, and his association with the network increases his credibility with traditional British news viewers.
      3. Viewership Age:
      • Middle-aged and older viewers are more likely to follow him consistently, as his style and the issues he covers often align with the concerns of those groups.
      • Younger viewers may engage with his content on social media platforms, where clips of his interviews or controversial opinions tend to go viral. However, his primary base is not necessarily the younger generation.
      4. Viewership on Specific Topics:
      • He has gained traction on hot-button topics like the Meghan Markle controversy, cancel culture, and COVID-19, particularly his vocal criticism of the government’s handling of the pandemic. These topics pull in viewers who are passionate about social and political issues, regardless of political alignment.
      5. Social Media Influence:
      • Piers Morgan has a strong social media following across platforms like Twitter, where he is very active. His Twitter audience is a mix of supporters and critics, but his confrontational and unfiltered tweets keep him trending and in the spotlight, reaching people who may not watch his full shows but are still influenced by his opinions and debates.
      In Summary:
      • Political conservatives, middle-aged/older demographics, and international viewers (especially from the UK and US) form the bulk of his audience.
      • His shows also attract viewers who enjoy debate-style journalism and are drawn to topics like freedom of speech, celebrity controversies, and cultural wars.
It’s safe to say, while controversial, Piers Morgan knows how to keep his audience engaged!
So shove that where the sun don't shine!

Regarding Piers Morgan: 1, I wish non-Brits would learn to pronounce his name correctly (it’s Piers as in multiple piers, not pierce) and 2) he may have lost his GMB job but it’s not as simple as quitting or as simple as a firing - ITV asked him to apologize publicly or else and he refused to apologize so it was kind of a mutual impasse. And his career is most certainly not destroyed. He’s doing quite well, actually. 3, The Alex he’s arguing with in this clip isn’t a co-host, he’s the weather guy. It was Piers’ idea to have Alex seated at the desk for the discussion bc Alex is biracial and Piers thought Alex’s perspective would add a unique perspective and insight to the discussion.
And BTW? I wish Whoopi Goldberg was on this list. She got a second chance after her ignorant comments about the Holocaust on The View yet ppl who have said or done way worse things on air have gotten cancelled. Bill Maher was not destroyed- in fact, he rebounded incredibly well and what he said about 9/11 is almost quaint compared to WG’s stance on WWII.

When Hockey Day in Canada came to my hometown they brought Don Cherry. The head of CBC hockey was there and she was walking on eggshells as this was shortly after they started using a 7 second delay on Cherry on live tv. He managed to behave himself then. But they must’ve eventually dropped the delay.
I remember one local reporter killing their career live on air. It was just after the summer Olympics and all the channels were supposed to have live interviews the local medal winners after they got off their plane. The reporter was somehow unable to get inside and so she could only ad lib live on air outside the airport while, if you flipped to the other two stations, they were live inside and chatting with the olympians. The reporter got shunted to late night news anchor and never got a major story again.

I understand wrestling very well, and I understand Cornette very well. The man is a vile racist and homophobe, and doesn't have any problem saying disgusting things like this and then trying to hide it by saying it's just part of his character. Even if that were true, that's cheap heat and unacceptable today.

A number of these have gone on to bigger and better because fair-minded people recognize the insidiousness of the cancellation of a whole career over simple and often overblown mistakes.

The old bags on The View say some of the most vile things imaginable and they get to keep their careers.

We were at a obgyn appointment for my wife and they had that show on. I'm not big on talk shows but said eh I got nothing else to do in lobby and just half passed paid attention to it, and the stuff they were saying was just batshit insane to me

Yeah my favorite moment is when they said that men are useless in that they don't need us and two of the host pretty much and said their husbands were idiots and could not live without them but somehow the jobs are safe I wonder why

Rush Limbaugh was hired by ESPN to speak his mind, and the sports media lost their minds as a result. Rush didn’t say anything racist on that show. Watch the full clip of his appearance on ESPN. His words were not a criticism of Donovan McNabb, even saying that McNabb was in fact a decent quarterback, but that the media was making him out to be a lot better than he really was because they were “desirous that a black quarterback do well.” That’s not a racist comment at all; it’s pointing out an agenda by the sports media. Rush resigned from ESPN because he didn’t want his colleagues on the show to feel uncomfortable. And it didn’t destroy his career at all. He still had a highly successful radio show with tens of millions of listeners for years after this incident.

While what you're saying about his ESPN job is true, dude was still a constantly racist garbage person, and it shouldn't surprise anybody that people grade his commentary on a curve, given his reputation. Surprise, people think they racist asshole garbage man is a racist asshole garbage man. A murderer isn't innocent of one murder just because he didn't murder everyone around him.

@@natejohnson9738 Nope. He stated his case and backed it up with audio from the actual show in question.
