This guy reminds me a lot of my dad, he was always making some cool project like homemade fireplace tools complete with with fire tongs, poker, shovel and stand. I still have a huge completely functional bear trap made with teeth and double sprung. He even made his own hot rivets he forged and hammered in. Of course he did that forging on his homemade anvil. I sure miss him. ❤️
You dad reminds me very much of my dad, I learned a lot from dad, it was him who made me who I am today, Cheers! to your dad and mine. Thank you for your comment.
Mate - your videos just keep getting better. I also really appreciate that you take the time to explain layouts design and thinking. Rather than just only doing assembly. Really excellent content - thank you.
Your creativity is inspiring. I've used rebar for cooling trays on my bench grinders. I used it for my handle on my bandsaw stand also. Just beautiful work man!
Dang, Gavin! You can't go so long between videos where you make neat stuff. I start having withdrawal symptoms...shakes, fever, uneasiness. I always enjoy your work. Thank you!

Loved the jig for the spokes, how to set out the degrees and the hole for the center made it so much easier by the looks of it. The wheels looked fantastic when on the axle, cant wait to see the finished product.
Great wheels Gavin! I have made some steel wheels for my hit and miss engine carts. Instead of bending band iron I had a steel shop cut 3 inch wide pieces of 8 inch diameter steel pipe. The five spokes is great, not often you see 5 spokes, nice touch! I also like your hub design, plenty of "bearing" surface but looks proper on the axle end. The castle nut is another nice touch that makes it look the part! Thanks for sharing. Cheers!
Thank you very much, I am glad you liked it. Cutting 3 inch strips of pipe would be the smart way to do it, I don't do "smart" I have a hammer. Hahaha, I appreciate your comment. Cheers!

The layout on the white piece of board was a strike forhead moment, I have been burning paper layouts for years. Seriously, thanks, man. The wheels are pretty dang cool, too.

Hi Gavin, great work yet again. Showed this video to my dad 85 He was a wheelright in his day. Say,s your a real craftsman. He said making round from straight is an art. But just thinks you should modify lump hammer with curved bottom to help with shape of bar to round. Love your work, just asked my nephew on railroad to get me a piece of track to make anvil.
Thank you very much, I am glad you and Dad liked it, he is giving me very good advice a curved bottom on my hammer would also have reduced many of the marks on the inside of the ring, say thank you to him. I wish you both the best, and I wish you the best for your anvil project. Cheers!
Brilliant well done buddy so clever I need to make sone wheels like this only bigger thanks for showing me fantastic love them wheels so strong cheers Larrysullivan in london
Good work, I took on a project that was a cart that held a large bell.I had the wheel tire rolled for me but I have used the cold forming method on lots of other projects it really is a cool way of doing it.

Nice wheels. Cold working the rims out of flat bar was really cool to watch, but I think I would have gone to the scrapyard and bought a section of pipe that was the right size.
