To be a bit harsh on you, captain: you should fire on the far away target first, then wait to fire the second bunch of torpedoes when the first one and the second one will hit the target at the same time.
You can very easily make simultaneous hits. Set up your submarine 90 degrees to the convoy track in front of them and aim to hit ships at 90 degrees to the target. If you draw an imaginary line from the tip of your submarine directly ahead convoys hips in every line will cross this imaginary line simultaneously. So you can aim to hit every enemy ship at 90 degrees angle and shoot at them as they cross your aiming point and will hit all ships of the first line of the convoy at the same time.
An absolutely fantastic series. I had recently finally watched Das Boot Director's Cut which I'd say was aptly timed with your venturing out on U-80. I felt like I was watching a Tonci87 video with more or less details here or there, down to the excitement of a radio report only to find that the convoy is too far, or in being disappointed with torpedoes. Frustration. Risky ambition. The terrifying surprise. Goodness, were those depth charges unkind to them.

The first proper episode of the U-80 and you already flawlessly engaged a big convoy? If that ain't a good omen for the new "tuna can" under your command, I don't know what is! Thank you for the "follow the torps" external view. I very much enjoy seeing what's happening to the torps after "the die is cast" and you can't change what they'll do; One can only sit back, watch and learn from seeing the engagement play out. One last thing: the membership - somehow it's even cheaper in my native currency (1.99 PLN, which is less than €0.49), which makes my decision to keep it running indefinitely even more a no-brainer. It's a small token of 'thank you' for content I've watched, and content to come. Till the next Wednesday, Herr Kaleun!
Another Great video. I love the patience you show during the hunt. It really illustrates how long many such setups took before a torpedo solution was obtained. Just one nerdy point. As I recall, U-80 was one of a few type 7C's with only two forward torpedo tubes instead of the usual four.
Great episode! I think the attack was well worth the risk, which all things being considered, seemed to be have enough odds in your favour. To bad about the malfunctioning torpedo, but nice catch all the same!
I have just become a member and it was 2.50 Turkish Liras. When you convert it to euros, its 0,066 euros. So its probably the maximum unprofitablity for youtube. Enjoy your 10 euros 😃😃
Awesome :D Thank you very much! When I set the price to the lowest possible amount it did say that it would be converted to local currency for those outside of the Euro zone. Maybe they have a special conversion for the Lira? Man I´m truly sorry about the economical situation in your country. I hope it will improve one day.
So the plan is still to finish the current Graviteam Campaign (only two turns to go, so shouldn´t be too long now), then play through the (rather short) Arma 3 APEX Campaign, and then we´ll go for the flight sim. I am itching to do that! I bought my flightsim gear at the beginning of the year and have only used it to play X4. I really want to get into flight sims though.

I played SH3 years ago. Very good game. I'm playing Uboat right now, but approach, attack and all is entirely different from yours. Firstly I sink destroyers and then cargo ships with the remaining torpedoes, deck gun and AA guns. Almost entire convoy every patrol. But realism is around 50%, given the fact that I'm alone against multiple enemies. I use meandering technique, snorkel, periscope depth and flank speed. It's tricky, but I get a lot of tonnage in the end. Though different, nice gameplay.
If your previous CPU cooler was an AIO, I bet your impeller broke. Bad impellers are the most common cause of AIO failures and why I will always stick with air cooling because you never know when that impeller will break, and you have no indication until you see temps start to spike as you described.
I think it was actually a blockage in the radiator. The pump was audibly working but I could hear air sloshing around in the radiator, even though I filled it to the brim. Or maybe the impeller did break and pieces of it caused the blockage

How to member? I cant find the membership link?? ill gladly contribute! Great video, I agree with everyone of your tactical décisions (From youtube to your cpu and of course your attack). I think about this attack, that you were lucky, just a little. Probably the waves and/or the rookie crew of the destroyers, they didn't hear you.
