The fire can heat rocks(not too hot), wrap them in a cotton towel and bring the rock into your tent to warm it for a few hours. Always carry atleast 4 extra oatmeal packets and 2 cocoa packets. You're doing very well but, a little bad luck and one of you could be in trouble. A pocket warmer(or a warm rock) in your shoes and socks at night will dry them. Have fun. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick
I did a walkathon when I was in jr. High,24 miles in a day. I had blisters on my feet for a week and couldn't barely move the next day. You guys act like you only walked a few miles. You are amazing! I'm so happy for you living the dream of my youth. ❤ You are so strong and such a great person to be around. I would've loved being a hiking partner of yours!
Since watching your videos, I have now concluded that south to north is the best way to go. Enjoying the beauty of the sites in Montana in warm weather and tolerating the NM heat in April is preferable.
That sounds cozy hiding out from the rain, but it's probably tough being stuck when you wanna be putting miles down! It looks like such a fun adventure and I liked the part at the end where you are admiring your bun lol
Long time follower! What a great introduction to the CDT. It's so beautiful and serene. Not to mention, it beats that Mojave Desert PCT Heatwave were in right now. Kudos 👏 to an amazing adventure.
Kelly: "Get me out of this tent!" 😂 You manage the cold & wet far better than I ever will. You and Pegleg are freakin' rockstars! Nice push to Benchmark! 🤘 Bless those 2 dudes for the ride. Rest well ✌️
For some reason, you seem to receive a lot more comments offering advice and safety tips than any other through hiker I’ve watched. I watch through hikers to help me prepare for my long distance section hikes on the pct. I figure they know what they are doing, and so for everything I’ve learned has been amazingly helpful.
"The ONE time" you actually wish you had a fat curious bear to snuggle with! I have never considered barging into anyones tent... But, dang. I might have attempted to knock on a nearby tree and asked to "snuggle" with a "sasquatch" when wet and freezing... G20 always stays
Your a true badass Kelly and seem down to earth and 😎 cool. My daughter is on Naked and Afraid right now 2nd week, started July 10th. Sometimes women are just tougher than men.
Serious question. I know that everyone is in a competition to save on weight. But would it not be beneficial to have pants that can unbutton into shorts for these river crossings? It has to be better and safer than wet clothes in the cold. Also, why not carry sandals to quickly put on for these crossings? My thinking is that wet shoes would be less forgiving and cause greater blistering (besides being wet and cold). Plus if it were warm, you'd have a fungus problem (and smell). Besides the tiny amount of weight added by the sandals why not?
I have sandals and pants but no one has time to take things on and off at the multiple water crossings we go through each day. It’s an inefficient use of time when you are aiming to hit 25-30 miles each day. You learn to adapt to wet shoes and socks. & Things will eventually dry out
Good morning Kelly I see you're heading to Pagosa Springs west of me would you please give me a shout out Andrew from Alamosa Colorado incredible hiking!!!
Lol! Loved how you pet the bun at the end. Happy you made it to town!

Really admire you guys' ability to maintain your sense of humor and motivation during tough weather conditions.

I don’t know how you are doing so much hiking and still able to edit such long videos everyday. That’s impressive
It’s a lot of extra work, but I enjoy keeping extra busy :) most of my life I’ve worked 2-3 jobs at a time so this is no different!
@@kellyhays23 you are a impressive person! 💪

What a way to end a dreary day! Get to town and get a burger 😊
Thanks for another great video
I could hear that burger calling your name from 2 states over!
How do you go about drying off your sleeping pad after its been strapped on top of your pack in the rain?
Love it!!!! I think this is the first video you donned the long pants. I had to say that since I have "Used donned in a comment" on my bingo card.
