  • Simple methods to slow the flow of water and hold more on your property! Holding nutrients, preventing leaching and erosion, increasing ground water table four our plants and wells, increase drought resilience, and just go on vacation without worrying about watering your garden! ...as much!
Video is from mid April, zone 6.5, in Massachusetts. Large garden bed shown is cover cropped with a Red Winter Wheat Grass and Hairy Vetch. Chopped and dropped around the walking onions and where I sowed some beets and carrots a bit early.
A great video with more details on Swales and Permaculture Water Holding, w/ Geoff Lawton!

It appears you have a form of what I know as skunk cabbage. Here in the Pacific Northwest I enjoy seeing our western skunk cabbage peek out of the wetlands and feature a yellow bloom in the spring. No water, no skunk cabbage.

Yup we call it the same here, and yeah it only grows in the wetlands that stay nice and wet. Cool plants, love its big leaves. But its pretty skunky if you break into a leave, and not in the good skunky way!

YT recommended this video and your channel for the 1st time even though I subscribe and watch Dr Elaine and others related to our living soil...
The slowing the water tipped the algorithm resulting in a like and subscribe... But not just that... Your other videos are also interesting to me, the family in general, and also for incorporation into home schooling...
Hope you continue the topic of slowing the water, sinking the water, and its impact on life in and around the soil.
Don't forget to catch silt/soil runoff and use to your advantage in "1 rock" and "beaver dams"... After a good bit of time, catch any extra, it will probably have some good life and nutrition to add to your compost, etc...

      Well glad YT found you!
Meant to mention the catch pool before the pipes after the rock I put for a spillway. The pool also helps water sink in and it catches all the sticks and leaves so they don't clog your pipes. and sentiment like you said!

Why did the soil break up with the compost? It wasn’t getting enough nutrients from the relationship.
