Bravo Wells Cathedral - a lovely rendition of a beautiful piece.
Absolutely lovely.
Absolutely sublimely beautiful - bravo all, and profuse thanks.
I once visited Wells Cathedral on holiday and the choir sang so beautifully.
Stunning.
Wonderful! So fervent.
Edit: RIP Queen Elizabeth II.
Bravo all
Sad to think when I write this it is just over an hour since the death announcement.
There are suggestions here in the words that cause we to wonder if the song writer had time to speak with Her Majesty before beginning the process.
Strong values come up in these words.
The local church choir I sing with got lumbered with singing this yesterday. Truly awful piece which none of the choir liked. Two members of the choir gave up during rehearsals as they could not stand it. Wish I had. This was commisioned by the Royal College of Church Music for the Jubilee but was not sung at St Pauls or Windsor castle chapel!
It was sung at St Paul's in a different service actually!!! I'm so sorry you didn't like it but respect your opinion. Wells' stunningly beautiful recording of it literally made me well up. This anthem has been taken up by around 700 choirs all over the commonwealth and has meant a huge amount to so many, and has without doubt been a huge and universal success for the Royal School of Church Music, who commissioned it from me to celebrate their Royal Patron, QEII. This above comment just goes to show that you can't please everyone all the time - but I know as writer that the piece has integrity for what it was aiming to do. All best, with respect - Thomas Hewitt Jones
How very sad to feel the need to express such a negative response to something which is so positive and, in my opinion, beautifully uplifting.
@@thomashewittjones Thank you for composing this anthem for the historic occasion. It captures the words of The Queen most beautifully, and reflects Her Majesty's values of service and compassion.
I sang that at Wells Cathedral in the choir of Te Decet Hymnus on the Jubilee Sunday, and thought it most touching.
@@quentinma6264 Thank you Quentin, it means a huge amount, and the RSCM are very delighted with the take-up of this anthem. Thank you so much for singing it, and all the very best from all of us involved in this project. Thomas
