Thank you for the video. We have this type of wind tunnel (Subsonic Wind Tunnel AFA 1300 Tecquipment). I want to ask, Does this type of wind tunnel in the installation of model airplanes will be tested upside down? If it is upside down, what is the reason. Thank you
Dear Muhammad, Are you using the models with the 3 Component balance? If so, due to the way the 3 component balance is designed / constructed, to register a positive lift there has to be a downward force on the two load cell cables. Therefore to do this, the aerofoil is flown upside down to generate lift ‘downwards’. In normal aircraft flight, the leading edge of the aerofoil is angled upwards to generate lift. When using the 3 component balance in the AF1300, the leading edge of the aerofoil has to be angled downwards to generate a positive lift…hence we say it is flying ‘upside down’.
