I adore Kintsugi 🥰 I see the first half as a "raspberry rose" underpinned by greenTowards the base, I def sense an earthy element, like wet clay (maybe it's power of suggestion). It's def an enigma, and a gem.
Thank you so much for going 41 minutes. I love long videos. I still get a chuckle with you and HSW……but even I put it away in summer….it’s only for the colder months . You have convinced me I need Le Panthere in my life…..😉
def agree with Grand soir. sometimes I wore I at work, it lasts all day and is the only fragrance that gets me compliments. But I only wear 2 sprays otherwise it can overwhelm
Great list! I used to have Au Coeur du Desert but I passed it along when I downsized my collection. Something about it was too sticky and sweet for anything less than the coldest of nights. My most bombastic are Night Flyer by Olympic Orchids and Figment Man by Amouage. The first has a very strong sillage and I have to remind myself that the serene and calming effect it has on me is mostly because of my scent memories. Heavy on the limestone earth and a ripe fruit kind of sweetness. Figment Man, although also earthy, is bombastic mainly due to the animalic qualities that I'd describe as having the same effect as a dense fog that clogs up your pores and nostrils. Funnily enough, it's the drydown that gives this effect. There's a citron on the opening that makes it airy.
Wonderful descriptions and thanks for sharing! I dont think I have tried Figment Man or Woman, there are still so many I haven't encountered :) I haven't tried anything from Olympic Orchids either but anything serene and calming needs to be at least sampled! I will add it to my list of things to try!
BDK Tabac Rose is the beast in my frag wardrobe; it’s put away right now b/c can’t even consider it in the heat. It’s strong, unique, projects and changes a lot during the wear. I enjoyed this content - thank you!
Thank you Jill! I just got a sample of Tabac rose the other week but I haven’t tried it yet, looks like I should test it while we are still in the cooler weather!
Yes to so many 🙌 Also thank you so much for mentioning LW :) I haven’t tried anything from Andy Tauer yet but already adore the brand anyway. Definitely considering to get some samples soon 😁
I love La Panthere. Some people find it very “mature” but it just feels comfortable to me. I am curious, how do you feel about Rive Gauche by YSl? When I smelt it a few years ago, I was shocked at the strength of the scent memory. My Greek Aunt, Stella used to throw big parties back in the 80’s and 90’s (Tween/teen years for me). I know that this was her scent as I was instantly transported back. It took me a while to feel like I could wear it.
Great list, Cherie. I must agree about Shalimar Milesime, it has an outstanding parformance and presence, but I never can get enough of it. I am obsessed. La Panthere, indeed is also pretty bombastic. For me my other most bombastic perfumes are Roses Vanille, Ivory Route, Oud Bouqet, Patchouli Intense,Inerelude Woman and probably quite a few I am forgetting to mention now.
Haha I know you love MVP, perhaps I need to try it more in the cooler weather. Don’t get me wrong, I still think it’s beautiful! It’s all relative to the OG lol Oooh yes Interlude is a monster! Thanks Iga! X
Also... I get a little giggle when you talk about how cold the winters are in Australia. I look at your temperatures when you mention how cold it is and think this is like some of our Summer and nicer spring and fall temperatures. (It is all relative to what you are used too). You would probably laugh knowing that we are in the hottest two weeks of the year in Canada and we have had highs of 27 and 28 and are struggling with the heat. 😉🇨🇦- Jenn
Haha yes 27 degrees is rather perfect weather I would say! Humidity makes it feel hotter too. I recall being in Toronto in January a few years ago and I insisted on walking everywhere and then couldn’t figure out why it took me several hours to get warm after I got home! Totally clueless about “real” cold weather 🙈
Hi! Nice to see another Qlder 😊 It's my first time watching your channel and I'm glad to have found it. Yes I agree you showcased some bombastic ones there however there are very few fragrances I own that would make me feel self conscious (even being an oversprayer) although I can definitely tire of a scent mid-wear lol. I have a few of those you listed (I got a comment at work once, upon having just spritzed Oud Bouquet, which I adore, when my boss piped up with 'what's that smell?' haha) but I'd say some of my most bombastic fragrances include Kenzo's Jungle L'Elephant and Tom Ford's Orchid Soleil. The Tom Ford dries down beautifully and I really enjoy it, but I find the lily note in it very commanding and loud initially. And the Kenzo's reputation precedes it, I'm sure, but I do love it. You've piqued my interest in the Shalimar you showed...I'm intrigued now! I was also happy to hear your thoughts on La Panthere as it's one I've been thinking about purchasing very recently - tossing up between the various flankers and the one I'm leaning towards is La Panthere Edition Soir. Any thoughts on that one? I look forward to checking out more of your vids. Cheers.
Thanks Naomi! I haven’t tried any of the other flankers for La Panthere but I am intrigued by Edition Soir- someone else mentioned that recently too. Is it still available? I don’t think I’ve ever seen it anywhere.
@@TheTopNote There's one I spotted on the bay...for now. I should probably get my finger out if I want it before it gets snapped up! lol I'm mid bid on a bottle of D&G red cap right now...another bombastic one.
Loved the video! I had to go dig up my Masque Milano discovery set to re-acquaint myself with Kintsugi. I totally agree that this smells very expensive and I have NO idea how to describe it...I do like it a lot, though. 🙂 I have a few bombastic fragrances I don't wear much anymore because there is no need to have a fragrance last all day since I've been working at home. One that springs to mind is Timbuktu by L'Artisan. Another, of course, is Portrait of a Lady. It literally projects and lasts forever on my skin. Cheers!
Hello Cherie, Au Coeur du Desert is strong and spicy. I was excited to sample it, but the coumarin note was a little too strong in the fragrance for me. I don't mind a little bit of coumarin in fragrance however that fragrance seems to showcase it as a note. I have sampled crimson rocks and found the initial peppery blast quite strong, it could but anyone who doesn't like pepper off, but once it settles down it has an almost delicious rose, honey cinnamon dry down. I find Amouage fragrances are all generally bombastic. I have a Hundred Silent Ways and find it moderate along with Ani which I might consider louder because of the patchouli note. I have heard some of the more masculine leaning fragrances from Nishane are louder than those though. Oud Bouquet may be my loudest fragrance. I got a compliment on it the first time I wore it out to a restaurant and the ballet. The others on your list, I haven't had the chance to sample yet. I would put Armani Rouge Malachite and Versace Crystal Noir EDP on this list. -Jenn
They do sound like they are bombastic, in the sense of consistence and long lasting as they are. In my life, the only perfumes that would make others talk to me "respectfully" 😂 and with compliments at reunions were Armani "She", Valentino "V", Gucci perfume from year 2002. It was surprising to receive the news when they got discontinued. They were elegant, with presence, lasting as they were, defined, sensible to the senses, deep, and consistent. I still remember their essence. After them, I have only perceived too comercial scents which are just too artificial, that cost such a big deal when they feel cheap and eventually made me get tired on few uses. I am currently just using "Mystique Forest" from Swiss Army. Only because it lasts as it is and is fresh but kind of elegant. Versatil.
😄 THANK YOU for what I thought was a voice of dissension, especially for Shalimar, Coco and La Panthere (still on my wish list, have a wee bit left of a decant). So many have touted the timeless history of the Guerlain fragrance, that it was one of my more sought-after blind buys early in the frag journey. By the 8hr mark, I was ready to exfoliate it off my skin in a hot shower which happened to be the WORST decision as it only perpetuated the scent throughout my bathroom and adjacent rooms. Sparingly in -25 degree outdoor wintry activities is the perfect scenario (to keep me from decluttering this altogether). The exquisite bottle is one of few factors preventing me from doing so. 😄 Coco is less polarizing a scent, thick wooly jumpers with a warm chai in hand and afternoon stroll in autumn 🍂 Agent Provocateur is another that needs the right scenario for use.
Haha well Shalimar has its lovers and it’s not-so-lovers for sure! Agent Provocateur- yes that actually was on my list but I cut it off to save the video from being hours long and because I think it has been discontinued anyway? Then again, MVP is no longer available either so that was probably a slip…I personally love AP though
I would be happy to help you with the declutter of the Shalimar Vanilla Planifolia... it was a too late decant discovery, and I became obsessed. It's so hard to get these days, I'm always side eyeing the offerings on ebay.. guess I have trust issues when it comes to a three hundred something dollar purchase! I pray Guerlain re-release or do something similar for the next special edition!
My loudest fragrance is Portrait of a lady which I adore. Another beast mode fragrance is Tabit both are compliment getters. I love La Panthere original and its flanker as well the Noir Absolu, both will always be in my collection.
I definitely don't gravitate towards louder ones but yes, I have a few. They are a mood aren't they? For when you want to be someone else maybe, just a bit for short while...
So true Claire! I was surprised to discover how many loud ones I had. Then again, I suspect some people don’t consider some of these to be very loud at all, but they are for me 😂
I forgot to mention that I also had sampled Atomic Rose. Unfortunately I had a headache that day and I only had enough to try the one day. Not sure if the headache was due to the sample or not so I would like to revisit it. I liked that it had a touch of green in it. There was almost something in the opening that felt fresh almost minty to me at one point. - Jenn
I'm very much into bombastic perfumes. I think my supreme beast is a Dior Addict vintage - one spray can be too much. It is delicious and amazing, but loud. I save it for specific events, I can't see myself wearing this in a random Tuesday for example.
I agree that crimson rocks is bombastic. For shalimar, the philtre de parfum is so loud to me. I almost feel like it is too much . This puzzles me because I have always enjoyed all kinds of shalimars
Bombastic = Fantastic. ShaGGy! Big yes on Hundred Silent Ways. Surely enough, when you add up 100 silent ways, you get 1 LOUD one. 🥁😆 You'll have to imagine the rimshot. 😂
my louder are oud satin mood, le lion de chanel, coco , La Panthere, Eau du Soir ,Shaghaf Oud, Jimmy choo, intense cafe, mon parfum gold, poison, jean patou joy , youth dew, eden and Lira (oh my...i also have a lot)and i only wear them on my nights out .+my guilty pleasures : under my skin, mon parfum and black opium that i only spritz one spray inside of my right elbow and sniff all day.
Curious to know: Do you consider these to be “bombastic”? What are your loudest fragrances and how do you like to wear them? Thanks for watching!
I adore Kintsugi 🥰 I see the first half as a "raspberry rose" underpinned by greenTowards the base, I def sense an earthy element, like wet clay (maybe it's power of suggestion). It's def an enigma, and a gem.

You articulated my feelings about Oud Bouquet to a tee. I initially liked it enough to get the full bottle but just sold it a few months ago.
oh, Cherrie, Au Coeur du Désert is great in summer heat. I just spray a bit less on then in winter and it works so well with hot skin.
Haha yes I fell in love with it wearing it on a hike in summer! But it projects SO MUCH that I use it sparingly 😂
Lovely voices, both yours and the one singing closing the video :)
Oh thank you Raul! Yes that song at the end! I instantly loved it! Her voice is delightful 🤗
I’m on my third day of listening to this. Cherie, I could listen to you forever. You make my commutes so much better. 😍
haha thank you Chris! Lol yeah people needed a few packed meals to get through this one! xx

I love the shalimar vanilla planifolia, it’s so beautiful with its leathery - vanilla dry down ❤️❤️❤️
Also I eventually get anosmic to it 😭 so don’t have the overpowering issue you have 🤷🏻♀️😘
Oh I wish I had that problem! Haha look I don’t hate it, clearly I wouldn’t wear it if I did but I confess I’m probably more of an OG Shalimar gal 💗
Yes to so many 🙌 Also thank you so much for mentioning LW :)

I wish I had kept a decant of Crystal Noir before I sold it…
Hi Cherie, I hope one day you will do a review of different variations of your Shalimar xxx
I love this idea, I cant believe I havent done it already!!
They do sound like they are bombastic, in the sense of consistence and long lasting as they are.

off the topic, but what is a jumper in AUS? Is it a hoodie or a sweater? 🤣
Haha both!
