So appreciate all the hard work that went into this video, it is super informative and enjoyable. Thank you Sarah! Learning so much about Scotland, what a beautiful country.
Oh Sarah, you got me. I did it. I am tomorrow in Inverness!!! So happy to see the beautiful Scottland and Skye youre talking about. Today we visited St. Andrews. Last days Edinburgh. Landscape is beautiful and you braught me to this. Thank you and I wait for more Videos of you... always...❤❤❤
@@sarahinscotland tomorrow we go eastside. 2/3 left of our trip. Checked Loch Ness today. Weather was great. And we like Haggis like Wolfi. Its very good (we are flexitarians and normally I dont like things like that 😅) And I can understand that you like sticky toffee pudding. My only problem is i can not paint. Making a stop at Applecross hope you have still some paintings there😊 I was in an Art supplies shop in Edinburgh. Thaugt I can buy some W&N Gouache but it is more expensive than in Germany. If I had knewn that I braught you some from Germany!
Oh wow that’s a ton of useful tips, information, for just visiting Scotland 🏴 in general. I really appreciate your sharing specific details of your camera 📸 🎥 /filming equipmen. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video & your journey with traveling, art, & adventures! Have a great day! 🥰💕
I have wanted to travel but with a family, i felt restricted. I have pain in my joints too. I realized watching this that 1) I can do day trips and weekend trips and 2) I can do strengthening training. And i don't need a lot of money because it's local and i can use public transport. 🙌
I love watching you Sarah whether you are talking, painting or showing us your wonderful photography - you make everything so interesting. I hope one day if you do painting courses I would be able to join you. Thank you for sharing xxx
omg, recently I've found your main youtube channel and you inspired me lots, almost lifechanging, I knew that artists used to paint outdoors but not as if it was a lifestyle! I want to get out of my studio right now! I suddenly felt that I don't want to be an indoor artist like anymore lol You have lots of content: 2 chanels, your website with you blog, your patreon.. Just wow, you deserve more views, thank you!!
So interesting to hear about your planning process. I am a planner/researcher for anything I do and as an anxious person, that helps reduce my anxiety and enjoy the experience more. Hearing about your camera equipment was also interesting; your videos and photographs are such high quality. I enjoy collecting bags too. However, I haven’t bought any in quite a while (feeling rather proud of that, but it’s probably because we stopped travelling due to covid, rather than any restraint on my part). I love my Osprey bag and it’s probably my highest quality bag, but not my lightest.
Luckily I got most of them on sale and when we go on longer trips we use 3-4 of them so they really come in handy. I usually give each one a job like “art bag” “photo bag” “clothing bag” etc. But it’s a good thing wolfy implemented the bag ban 😅
@@sarahinscotland Definitely good to find them on sale when you can!! That’s lucky! I agree, having several for different purposes comes in handy and I know mine get a ton of use… and not just by me. It’s a useful collection to have! (Although, my closet where they are stored is full… so no more for me either, unless one bites the dust.)
Great video. I biked the Outer Hebrides along the Hebridean Way from Vatersay to the Butt of Lewis in 2017. I was self supported on my little Brompton bike for a little over a week. Scotland is absolutely beautiful. I will be back to explore more. I live in Northern California and the landscape is similar. I'm excited for you.
Wow that sounds like an incredible trip. I have the Outer Hebrides on my “dying to go” list. It’s hard to find a time of year where I could take a whole week off for it but I will someday do it 🤩
Thank you so much Sarah for sharing all the details and what a great learning experience. This video is extremely helpful. I sure hope one day to get to Scotland, but for now I will live vicariously through your videos. Best to you and Wolfie and take care.
That is so cool that you're from Colorado. That's where I am. I really liked this video. It's the first of yours I've seen and I look forward to watching more. ❤
I just got back from Scotland OMG wow so beautiful I can not put in words we went to so many places our guide James was wonderful he is from the outer Hebrides island hope I spelled that right any way it was amazing now I know why you love the highlands I really enjoyed the highlands
Hi Sarah. Great to hear your exciting long term plans. I’m sure you’ve already looked but Ordnance Survey do very detailed maps showing public footpaths and rights of way and could provide info for your trips. Many available free online. Your filming is stunning. Thanks for sharing. Jill R 🏴
Thank you so much Sarah for sharing everything in detail . Come to Kerala, one of the southern state of India, where you can see Ocean with different moods, backwaters and rivers. Kerala is an ever green land.
I can just "see" the wonderful books you are going to create in the future. I will definitely buy one. So - keep going. I wish you lots of success for this daunting project. Geli
Thanks Sarah for this video and info. I asked in your most recent video about packs packs for carrying art stuff. Scrolling through your playlist l found my answer. I hope the Ultiate direction bags are "Scottish rain waterproof" 😉 lt looks comfy when your wearing it. Many thanks......Alioban xx😊
Thank you for the hiking websites. I will visiting Scotland in about 6 weeks with my family and I was looking for hiking options and this will definitely help with planning and choosing a good hike. I am too trying to get back in shape so I am able to hike more during our vacation (and being able to keep up wit my kid ;) )
i wish i could hike more in scotland, but thats not going to happen so we have been looking into wheelchairs that have heavy duty off road wheels 😀 scotland has pretty good bus service (in most places). im use to not having any service in parts i lived in canada, so its great if its needed
I really needed to hear this. I started jogging about 2 months ago with the intention of completing some 2 day through hikes. I'm in my 40s and due to some health issues and life changes I spent about 5 years avoiding physical activity. And I'm in pain all the time. I keep expecting the pain to stop, and I do strength training which I notice helps...but the worry of causing more harm than good bothers me a lot. Physical activity within my own range can't be negative and this video encourages me to keep going.
I used to try trail running and that made my knee worse. I almost gave up. I sit at a computer for a lot of the day and it was taking a toll over the years. It’s so hard to get into a good workout routine when you are in pain, and could even be dangerous if you’re not careful. Like I said even walking was causing me issues. And the road to where I am now wasn’t easy, or pain free. But it was little by little, tiny progress each week. With proper instruction I was able to do things I could never do before. I got rid of some monthly subscriptions and I barely go to restaurants to be able to use all that extra money for my training. 100% worth it. It’s a group session which keeps the cost down but we each get individual help. Maybe it’s something you could look into. It’s so empowering to feel myself getting stronger. Never give up!
Definitely speak with a professional, wether a physical therapist or sports coach, so you don't do more harm than good and train your body within its capabilities. Usually, we're able to do so much more than we think we can, but always aproach it with the brains turned on. You got this! Good luck on your journey
Interesting video! I loved seeing all the different types of cameras. I am interested in getting a drone someday. I don't have much use for one though!
Hi, Sarah. I love and greatly appreciate how you "take" me on the journey with you. I like a lot your outdoor plein air art journey. Question: May I use screenshots of your videos for my landscape paintings? Thank you ❤💚
How's the battery on the GoPro? I bought one, made one video, and returned it because I really didn't like seeing the battery life tick down fast as I was looking at it. Also, do you need permits or a license in Scotland for flying drones?
I haven’t had issues with my batteries. Two of them gets us through a whole day on the trail and I own 4 so I’m never worried. But usually I’m filming with my Fuji in between (like the GoPro isn’t on the entire day, just bits along the way). But what I don’t like is that when I use the media mod, it overheats if I film for longer than 30 mins. It’s rare but a couple times I did a long video to film weather, or forgot it was recording on a chest mount and it overheated. And the media mod makes the audio so much better so I constantly forget to take it out of the media mod for long shots, so it is bound to happen again😆 but I have the replacement service so if at any point it goes bust, I can replace it no questions asked. For what I use it for (movement shots) it’s 100% worth the quirks. You might like the DJI pocket 2 for your walking/talking stuff as it lasts a long time and is really high quality. Get the mic with it. It’s one of the best wireless mics I’ve ever used. You only need permits to fly in certain areas in Scotland. But you need a drone license which depends on the size/weight of the drone. It requires passing a theory test online and annual renewal.
You’re living many folks dreams by traveling through Scotland. I’m a fellow Fuji user. Can I ask if you use the film simulations on camera or do you shot Raw and edit later?
Actually now when I will be able to take the dog in the car I will find trails here and walk with her there instaed of just being around home and filled with other peoples, dogs and other stressfull input for her.
No criticism intended, but I always find it weird when people talk about the "ocean" around the UK, since we mostly call it the "sea". Scotland is surrounded by the North Sea, Irish Sea, and - off the Hebrides - the Atlantic Ocean, but I wonder if even Hebridean residents call it the ocean? @sarahinscotland did you ever start talking about "the sea" by hearing your husband refer to it that way?
Yea I totally know what you mean. When talking to local people I always specify the name of the sea like the Moray Firth or North Sea etc. I think for the ease of speaking to a very wide audience I just say ocean more generally when speaking of the large bodies of water surrounding Scotland. Being landlocked in Colorado you tend to think of the ocean & sea being the same. So it’s a habit I have to break. Salt water = ocean = mermaids = Cthulhu 🤣
@@user-xi5rw6iv3b oh trust me I know 🤣 my husband laughs at how I pronounce things all day 🤪 but then when I pronounce things in a local way he says it sounds funny in an American voice. I can’t win!
