Just recently purchased an SLX DX multicolor camo and it is absolutely the fastest and smoothest playing guitar I have ever owned. Been playing a long damn time. Gibsons mostly. I hate I have missed out on these great guitars until recently. Better late than never. The Soloist is my main guitar. Beat the hell out of it and it will not go out of tune. Awesome!!!
I have an SLX and a JS32 Rhoads.....even the neck on the Rhoads, feels incredible. I did a lot of upgrades on it (pickups/tremolo) but the neck is so smooth....the 12/16 compound radius necks are amazing.
I owned a 1989 USA Jackson Custom shop soloist. Was one of the best sounding and playing guitars that I’ve ever played in my life. Was heavy as hell and sustained longer than any Les Paul could. Was a well built guitar. Every other Jackson I’ve ever played beside that one has been a piece of poop.
My Kiesel vader 8 has Stainless frets, and neckthru...they're both a must, I miss having a 6 string shredder, but at the price of a usa soloist i could just have another Kiesel built.
I have a Jackson SLX Soloist....I have the Satin Red Pearl color, it's a really great guitar. I upgraded the tremolo with original Floyd Rose bridge saddles, titanium string inserts, and a 32mm brass block. The guitar is a BEAST! I am seriously thinking about getting another Jackson....probably the Granite Crystal Soloist.
I have the same Soloist. Satin Red Pearl. I got it in Jan 2019 new. I replaced the Duncan designed pickups with real Duncan's. I put an SH-1 in the neck and a JB TB4 in the bridge. I also replaced the FR Special with an Original Floyd. Like you said, this guitar is a beast. I was actually impressed with the build quality. The guitar has no flaws.

@@michaelj3959 Yeah..they look really nice, I wish they had bound necks. All of my guitars have bound necks....I just think it looks a little nicer, personal preference I guess.
@@xlr8r2010 I thought the same thing, but this fretboard is rolled very nicely and incredibly smooth. It also has the Luminlay dots. The fret markers on the side of the neck glow. It's pretty cool in a dark room. I agree with you that the SLX has a nice neck. I love that guitar. But, wait until you play one of these my friend.
My only two requests of Jackson is to incorporate volutes and more of those side rectangular position markers like on the Mick Thomson model. I am officially a life-long fan and player of Jackson.

That's cool and all , but ..almost 732 bucks for a poplar body with Jackson hardware and pickups seems a bit too much for me. i have a Schecter Damien with maple body / neck EMG 81/85 and grover tuners for roughly the same price.
Poplar body and laurel fingerboard, no locking tuners, OEM pickups and floyd rose bridge. These are truly bottom of the barrel specs at an outrageous 800 dollars.
That’s exactly what I’m saying. Don’t forget “Made in China.” $400-$500 guitars at the absolute most. You got guys defending them going “but the paint job!” Yeah you mean the one on my crackle finish that came with a literal crack and chip? No thanks. If you want a decent Jackson you gotta look into the Pro Series.

I LOVE my Jackson Dinky DKA M- for under $400 brand new that guitar is unbeatable... I used to have a Jackson Kelly, it looked rad and it sounded killer, the neck was amazing- but it was so neck heavy, I could not stand to play it- What a horrible design flaw! Does anyone know, have they fixed the severe neck dive that the Kelly has (had???)
That exposed chest and 80's hair and black leather really brings me back to the 80's before Fender bought them and exploited their good name for pure profits.
I like Jackson, but I think they over do it with the 80's look sometimes. I hear a lot of 20 something year olds call them "old man guitars" or "boomer guitars". It's not good for business when an entire generation of people don't want to be seen playing your guitars.
I would be careful purchasing Jackson guitar product through certain dealers like Amazon and Gear Tree. You might not get what you ordered. Are You may get something else. Gear Tree is the worst company ever for handling your guitar needs Just a warning

But you can’t even dare say X series Chinese made crap compare with $2k guitars. own 2 X Series myself. Orange Crackle Soloist, Reverse headstock maple fretboard Rhoads with SD Blackouts, and they both have wiring issues. The neck pickup on the Rhoads doesn’t even work. Don’t even get me started on their Floyd’s. I have an LTD EX Black Metal I got for the same price. Made of actual mahogany, made in Indonesia (not China), Ebony fretboard, and simply one of the sturdiest guitars I’ve ever felt in my hands. That being said, I have a Phil Demmel Pro model that absolutely wiped the floor with it. But thats a Pro series not X. From now on when I buy Jackson I’m going straight to Pro level. Selling off my X series junk.
The ones made in Indonesia are good guitars!! That factory has gotten good at making guitars man. I have Jackson pro series that just Owns, I got a really heavy heavy tone out if it, and it handles it well. It was only $1200 new.

So just a bunch of X Series trash. Disappointing. Paying nearly $1k for poplar bodies, ugly laurel fingerboards, and Jackson branded pickups.
$750.00 Better than ESPee and Schecter garbage. I've got 2 X Series, I'll put them up against and guitar up to 2K.
