  • The Plasmart PlasmaCar is one of the coolest toys we have brought home for our boys. This year, they each received one for Easter and they absolutely love them. About 4 hours later, we regretted it. They were having so much fun but the plasma car wheels were marking up our hardwood floors.
    This is when we decided that we needed a plasma car wheel replacement. Actually, we needed a plasma car wheel upgrade. After hours of research and trying to decide what wheel to choose, this is what our research confirmed.
    If you don’t care about the research and just want the PlasmaCar or wheels for this cool toy. Here are some amazon links for you.
    Find these PlasmaCars and the Polyurethane Wheels here:
    amzn.to/42kPmXL
    (affiliate link, we may earn from qualifying purchases)
    Tools required for this upgrade
    Ratchet with 10mm socket (Front wheels)
    Small pick, 90 degree pick works best (to remove the bearings if you choose to replace them)
    Rubber hammer
    The Plasmart Plasma Car wheels are 90mm in diameter. Unfortunately you can’t use inline roller blade wheels or scooter wheels to replace plasma car wheels. Well they will actually work for the front wheels, but the back wheel span is smaller than the front and the normal 24mm thick wheel just won’t fit. You could probably bring it to a machine shop and have them make it work but this would probably be a bit pricey, unless you know someone to hook you up.
    So after hours and hours of research we found a set on Amazon that looked like a good fit. The reason it took us a while to make a choice was that there were so many options for wiggle car wheels to choose from on Amazon, but many had lots of negative reviews.
    The wheels we decided to go with are specifically designed for the Plasmart Plasmacar. The front wheels are 24mm thick and the back wheels are recessed 2mm on each side making them 20mm overall thickness. If you are looking to upgrade your plasma car wheels these PlasmaCar polyurethane replacement wheels are a great option.
    How to change PlasmaCar wheels and bearings
    Place the PlasmaCar / swivel car on a table to make it easier to work on.
    Using the ratchet and 10mm socket remove the front wheels.
    Pull the back wheels out by hand. If they are too difficult to pull out you can use a screwdriver or small pry bar.
    Using your 90 degree pick, gently pull out the bearings from the original wheels. Do not use impact to remove the bearings as this could damage them and you will be installing them in the new wheels.
    Remove the bearings from the replacement wheels but keep them for future use in case a bearing fails.
    Press the original bearings into the replacement wheels. Again, do not use impact to install the bearing. This could damage them or cause them to fail prematurely. They should press in by hand. If not, use the technique we provided using a bolt, two washers and a nut.
    Install the front wheels on the fixed axle and tighten snug.
    Install the axles into the back replacement plasmacar wheels and press them into the slots. If they don’t press in by hand, line up the slots and tap them in with the rubber hammer.
    Make sure all wheels are spinning freely before use.
    These PlasmaCar polyurethane wheels are perfect. They are easy to install, they are quiet and they are safe on indoor floors.
    There are lots of kids toys out there, but If you are looking for the best kids toy, the plasma car with polyurethane wheels is a great choice. It is actually our kids' favourite toy at the moment.
    The Plasmart PlasmaCar is a great toy for kids. It is also rated for up to 220 lbs so parents can have fun too. There is nothing better than buying toys for children that the parents can enjoy.

    What is the purpose of the two small front wheels since they don't touch the ground? I ask because I picked one up for my grand son and those two do not rotate and have a large flat spot.

    • @ParentsandProjects
      @ParentsandProjects  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Cindy, I am sorry to say am not 100% sure why these wheels are part of the plasma car being that they don't touch the ground. After watching my boys ride these around a bit, my best guess is it is something to do with stopping the car from flipping over when trying to turn or go in reverse. The wheels probably don't need to be installed for the plasma car to work but if it does tip further then the balance point they will prevent the car from fully flipping over.. Not sure if that makes sense but that is my engineering guess. And I am not an engineer 🙃

      @cindyschultz1124 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you ! That's what I thought as well. So your small wheels are also stationary, as in they don't turn on their own?

      @mincheska3578 ปีที่แล้ว

      Theres a video where people figured it out. It makes the vehicle turn/wiggle. Some sorta physics thing i dont comprehend

    What about the small front wheels mine are flat on one side

    • @ParentsandProjects
      @ParentsandProjects  ปีที่แล้ว

      These wheels are non functional. I think they are just there to prevent the plasma car from tipping over. No need to change them as the shouldn't be touching the ground.

    Just wanted to say any standard 90mm inline skate wheel will fit with zero modification needed.

    • @ParentsandProjects
      @ParentsandProjects  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment XTINA, but I think you may be mistaken. We tried with std 90mm wheels and only two of the 4 work. The other two are slightly thinner. If you watch the complete video I explain this in detail and show the comparison.

    Can these wheels go outside too?

    • @ParentsandProjects
      @ParentsandProjects  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Gr8mom. Yes, these wheels could totally be used outside and would perform way better than the wheels that come with the plasma car. My only concern would be using the car outside and then brining it back inside the home. If rocks were to be imbed in the wheel they could scratch your floors. Hope this helps!

  • @aperson696
    @aperson696 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    can you still drift with the new wheels

    • @ParentsandProjects
      @ParentsandProjects  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What's up Kevin. I want to say yes but you would need to be going alot faster then with the stock wheels. My 5 year old hasn't gotten that far yet.
