I believe the idea, by looking at, is you install a chassis which is held in place via the grub screw holes you see in the bottom black piece. The chassis stays fixed inside when wired up. To get it out after you just remove the top lip, unscrew the glass eye bunny ears and switches and pull it all out the bottom complete. I think it looks extremely well thought out
U could twist the wires the opposite way before u solder them so they untwist and become straight when u install it, just an idea, no clue if it'd work
No need to twist before you solder, just twist the switch before you install it. Count the number of turns it takes to install the switch, solder the wires, then twist the switch the same number of turns the opposite direction before install. Done!
Those are 4-40 holes for you to use some way to hold your neopixel or led in on the side under the glass eye socket. In case anyone wanted to know. You need a set screw so that you can slide it all back in.
Any idea if you can rotate the end cap on this? My biggest gripe with the one I recently got is that the end cap and Kobold clip is lined up with the bunny ears and not the clamp.
I dont know what to buy if the 89Sabers Graflex or the Graflex 2.5 ? Im from Germany and the customs fees are a little Problem. And the big Problem is i don't find any Chassis for the 89Sabers Graflex. :/ I need Help
For display I would say the 89 sabers is much better. It looks closer to screen accurate then the 2.0/2.1/2.5 Does. As for dueling in my opinion the Korbanth Graflex is better as it feels like it would be more stable because of the top and bottom half threading together. I received my 2.5 last week and though I am not disappointed it doesn't come with the features the 89 sabers comes with. No lip at the emitter, static slide switch, glass eye is a solid piece of metal, the back button is you have to put together your self. Those can be modified after purchase using resources from the different shops and shapeways. Most prominent difference is the emitter shroud. The curve is a much steeper on a Korbanth. The 89 Sabers has the more rounded S curve. I personally love my 2.5 which has some plating peeling off issues but it feels solid and like it could take a beating and I can always just modify it to be more accurate later on if I so please.
Does this hilt have the option to be a static prop opposed to using a chassis ment to accommodate a blade? If not are there other sabers besides Romans that better replicate a vintage?
I've got a bunch of questions if you dont mind. I have recently recieved the 89 sabers graflex in the mail, and im examining it to understnd how to install the electronics and such and it has left me with a few questions.. #1. Have you installed electronics into yours? was it difficult? Ive found that the inner diameter to the black chasis pieces to be close to 1inch which makes me wonder if this would accept standard led modules, and such. 2. if you installed electronics did you use the red button or the slide switch? the slide switch seems more feasible considering the design, but I personall would prefer my activation to be in the red button.which again seems a little tough to manage by design. 3. did you get the gold tube chassis? i got one and althought it appears good and usable, im having trouble finding battery holders that would fit inside. perhaps ill just have to sand a battery holder down to size? 4. the inner diameter of the black chasis piece appears to be 1 inch. when i purchased this i thought thered be room to accomodate a 1 inch blade but that very much seems like too much of a push. Would you recommend a 7/8 blade or sand down the blade i have now?
Hey Alex, unfortunately I am not sure how much help I can be with your questions. The hilt I reviewed wasn't actually mine but was lent to me purely for the sake of review. I haven't handled another one since then and have yet to install one. I know it is possible to wire the red button as activation as the slide switch is meant to be auxiliary. You can't use a 7/8" blade as it will be far too small, you'll have to sand a 1" down until it fits. As for the internal dimensions I'm afraid I can't answer those questions as I haven't dealt with it at all, sorry.
I ordered mine in late Nov. 2017 and got it on the 20th Dezember. The shipping was not the problem. The shipping itself took only 4 or 5 days to germany. But now I‘m really happy with it.
Hi East Coast Sabers, Would a Solos Hold Bladeholder fit into this Graflex replica? I want to build a Lightsaber and until now i was going for the TGS but this one is soooo much cheaper and has more stuff coming with it so im kinda undecided :/ Help please :)
I can confirm that the glass eye doesn't allow for much shine-through. It's visible only if the glass eye is facing straight at you, and it's realllly dim.
So is there no point in getting the 2.5 because this one is cheaper and comes with more accurate parts? And is this a kit or a pre made saber? The site makes it seem like it's a kit when this video makes it look like it's pre made.
It’s a kit for a hilt. If you want to add sound and Lightsaber you have to either do it yourself or 3rd party. The 2.5 is meant for dueling but this could take some light hits but isn’t really meant for dueling due to this hilt being designed to be much like the graflex 3 cell flash.

Thank you so much for these reviews! I've been meaning to get a Graflex replica for some time and your reviews have been a big help.
You're welcome sir.

Yep... I am getting this! Already exited!
You can choose to have a drilled or solid base 3 cell bottom when you order
Wow looks amazing really a must have graflax so it's cost in UK money is about 1:40sh pounds that's for the 1:83$ one
Any idea if you can rotate the end cap on this? My biggest gripe with the one I recently got is that the end cap and Kobold clip is lined up with the bunny ears and not the clamp.
What tools are you using? I don't know what tools to buy to start the job
can u please link where u bought the hilt
Can you please put it together to make TFA model, with the ESB clamp card.
Can i use the knight chassi on this ?
The kit is currently $168. It is $183 if you want it with the aluminum chassis tube
I dont know what to buy if the 89Sabers Graflex or the Graflex 2.5 ? Im from Germany and the customs fees are a little Problem.
And the big Problem is i don't find any Chassis for the 89Sabers Graflex. :/

does the d ring is aligned accurately with the clamp card?
were do you buy them
Is this hilt same as the korbanth graflex supreme?
Yeah, korbanth uses 89sabers for their graflex supreme hilts
EAST COAST SABERS, is this better then the 2.5 hilt for display and dueling?
Spencer Williamson im wondering the same. Just ordered the 2.5 yesturday.... this one is cheaper and seems to give you more stuff. But im not sure.

Well thanks for the tip on the 2.5 korbanth and 89 sabers
can you provide me a link to purchase the pin tool
Does this hilt have the option to be a static prop opposed to using a chassis ment to accommodate a blade? If not are there other sabers besides Romans that better replicate a vintage?
Deck Co. This can certainly be used as a static piece but right out of the box, nothing compares to a Romans in terms of accuracy.
very fun, I cannot wait to build my own :) What Graflex do you recommend and from which seller? Thanks, James
Where you able to find a chassis that could fit in this? Any Goth3D? Thanks again for those precise reviews
Sorry man, I have not made any efforts to locate a chassis.
So these do work with MHC chassis? How does the LED mounting work?
There's a little LED retention screw in the inner core just below the glass eye.

also, How would one go about getting the activation card to stay in the clamp? magnets or pinching the clamp?

How long did the order take to arrive?
Thank you so much for this review
No problem!
Does anyone know how long these take to ship? I just ordered mine a few days ago and didn't receive the tracking number yet
Patience you have to have, young padawan. I ordered mine in early December. No tracking number til today...
lol I love the start to that. Thanks for the info

Krazy Contraptions how long did you end up waiting?
Hi East Coast Sabers,
Would a Solos Hold Bladeholder fit into this Graflex replica?
I want to build a Lightsaber and until now i was going for the TGS but this one is soooo much cheaper and has more stuff coming with it so im kinda undecided :/
Help please :)
due to the design of the aux. slide switch other blade holders won't work. The TGS or Romans is your best bet.
what a shame, looks like i gotta expand my budget then :/
Can you tell me if it's made of brass or stainless steel? From the sound when you take off the lower part, it can be stainless. Hoping :D
I believe it's brass, like a vintage
East Coast Sabers thank you! :)
I can confirm that the glass eye doesn't allow for much shine-through. It's visible only if the glass eye is facing straight at you, and it's realllly dim.
It's possible to install a bulb plug replica from tgs?
Jacopo Campagnaro If you get a 1" blade plug, yes. It will work fine.
The led module comes above the switch, its only about 1" deep blade, no dueling
Can the red button be replaced with a TGS button?
It comes with a secondary red button to replace with the glass eye. But yes, a Graflex Shop button should work as well.
I just looked on the site and the kit is $169. Is this true? It seems too low for a kit that comes with more than the 2.5
Krazy Contraptions yes it’s actually worth 169$
So is there no point in getting the 2.5 because this one is cheaper and comes with more accurate parts? And is this a kit or a pre made saber? The site makes it seem like it's a kit when this video makes it look like it's pre made.
It’s a kit for a hilt. If you want to add sound and Lightsaber you have to either do it yourself or 3rd party. The 2.5 is meant for dueling but this could take some light hits but isn’t really meant for dueling due to this hilt being designed to be much like the graflex 3 cell flash.
We’re did you get it
You can get an 89Sabers Graflex from Korbanth.com in the US or KR Sabers in the UK.
they don't all come with the gold chassis :(
Quick question for you since you didn't cover the two bags of option parts.
Are the grips rubber or plastic? On the site it said rubber.
They're plastic grips, with 3M adhesive on the back.
They're very much plastic with pre-installed rivets.
I would like to get a commission on a saber, I don’t have Facebook. On a Dv6 saber. Thanks may the force be with you.
If anyone wants to trade a 89sabers graflex for a TGS replica with esb grips and kobold let me know
I still cannot understand why this is 7.5 and the 10 out 10
Rank for accuracy Rgen1 Rgen2 g89 gshop
Romans Gen2 and the TGS are very close in terms of accuracy, followed by the 89Sabers then the 2.5
East Coast Sabers am I the only one here caring about the emitter S curve more than any other details else? :xD I believe I’m going crazy
I'm not sure why anyone would spend all of that money on a Graflex just to duel with it and possibly scuff or damage it when stunt sabers exist!
