    I’ve read Jennette’s book and those comments that the creator made about her enrages me. Jennette was very open in her book about the fact that she wasn’t the easiest person to work with on Sam and Cat. Her abusive mother who brainwashed her had just died, she was in active addiction, and was suffering from an eating disorder. Yeah she most likely wasn’t gonna be the happiest and nicest person to work with. AND SHES BEEN VERY OPEN ABOUT THAT. To just randomly drop that in a TikTok like it’s “tea” is so infuriating.

I saw a reddit post of someone saying Em Rata called them a “border hopper” when they were waiting on her, and it had hundreds of upvotes and all the comments were like “omg I’m so sorry she said that”. I saw Ryan Gosling at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
      He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
      I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
      The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
      When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

    i think this sort of thing is fueled by how we tend to hold "i never liked them anyway" as the ideal response to a celebrity doing something problematic. the lengths people will go to to prove that they "knew something was off the whole time" is getting ridiculous, as evidenced here, but i also don't think that that's a particularly constructive mindset to begin with. from youtubers to actors to pop stars, as soon as someone gets exposed for a bad behavior, people scramble to be the first ones to claim they didn't like them in the first place. but in reality, that doesn't matter; what matters is what you do with the full information once you have it.
    ive been thinking about this a lot in the lizzo situation, because im seeing people get praised for saying they always hated her and her music. but your enjoyment of an artist doesn't make you a good or bad person, even if it's later revealed that that artist did bad things! lizzo made music that sounded fun and contained uplifting lyrics, and there was nothing wrong with enjoying that! there was no way to know about the terrible things she did until the victims spoke about them. now that we know, we can respond to that information, and that's what matters.
    (i'm also not talking about significant warning signs of abusive behavior. those things should be talked about, even in hindsight, for the sake of education and awareness. but i just don't think "i heard she was kind of rude sometimes" is helpful to anyone)

    That tik tok is the internet equivalent of being cornered by your coworker in the break room and them going “omg girlie I’ve got tea! I heard from A who heard from B who heard from C who heard from D who talked to E at the store across the street and said that F saw the boss of the company run a red light 11 years ago in a different town” it’s not even interesting gossip and there’s zero credibility but they’re acting like they just confirmed the biggest crime of the century

    not to even touch on the fact that Jeanette literally discusses how she felt and what she was going through during her time filming for sam and cat in her memoir in her own words and so that shouldn’t impact how we feel abt her now as an adult when she was literally going through some of the most traumatic shit of her life during that time. like idk but the comparison between Jeanette’s behavior as a kid when she was going through some really heavy shit vs Ariana being a homewrecker and just generally not a nice person as an adult who knows better it just skeeves me out

Unless we hear from the victims’ mouths themselves we have no idea what context could be behind their behavior.

It's possible her coach was defensive of their client and told the story with rose-colored glasses. The reason the game Telephone exists is because it's funny to see how things change while it's passed around. What makes people think that isn't how it works in real life?

    • @MissCaraMint
      @MissCaraMint ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We have an expression about it in Norway. “From one feather to five hens”. It’s a refference to a HC Anderson story about a hen who loses a feather and jokes about how she looks so much better without it. Some other hen somehow thinks this implies that she’s going to pluck out her own feathers to look beautiful, which then becomes that a hen has plucked herself clean for beauty. Before finally making its way back to the original hen as, five hens pluck off all their feathers to see who is most beautiful before pecking each other to death over some rooster. And that’s how one feather became five hens.
      It’s an important story to learn.
