Jerry did help Colin with his one man show though..directed one of them. but the reason he liked Colin in the first place is cuz he's funny :) They made fun of Colin a lot on the show but he got all of them back from time to time

Her style works better on roasts or stand-up than tough crowd. Honestly there are a lot of great female comedy writers, but few who can do well off the cuff. Judy Gold was similar, she was kind of annoying on the show but her prepared bits were solid. The only ones I’ve seen do well at that were Sarah Silverman and Bonnie McFarland, though Bonnie stays relatively quiet and a lot of people find Sarah’s voice annoying.
