Actually, I do wash my hands every time I come in the door. Even if all I did was take a walk. I've been doing it for years and years. I'm a big time hand washer.
good habit...
Excellent-
Always!
Always!!!
I am way more like Hoda, ha ha.
This is not about being a germaphobe! This is basic hygiene.
You wash your hands upon returning home. You change clothes and shower after flying. You change your clothes when you get home. Jenna is right!
I do what Hoda does. Very rarely wash my hands. I am never ever sick.
I was my hands every time I walk-in the door and the “plane” clothes go straight into the laundry.
“Plain”
@@alarahillton1343 they meant plane.
Me too, I can’t wait to get the plane clothes off and into the washer asap 😅
I have a friend who brought bedbugs home!! She was told by the professional exterminator that it is possible she could have brought them in from riding in a taxi, Uber or Lyft!! How many people ride in these vehicles all day??? You have no idea how clean anyone is or where they have been. By the way..at the very least you should wash your hands when you get home. You've touched the grocery carts, shopping baskets, door handles, card readers, ATMs, poles in subways and trains and shook hands with others. I'm seriously not a germophobe...I just use my head and try to keep my hands clean.
Yes those suckers will hitch a ride on you!! I took a temporary job straight out of high school sharing the same desk with the person who worked in the morning, the second job I ever had and I got bitten thinking the office had a mosquito! Then I started to get bit at home and I actually saw the bed bug on my desk and on my mattress. I cleaned my whole room and thank God I avoided an infestation.
Hoda is insane! Thank gosh for Jenna on this talk
I am the Hoda of this conversation
This is a common practice in the Philippines. There are 2 types of clothes depending on usage. Clothes you wear inside the home are called 'pambahay'. Pambahay are typically very comfortable, like what Westerners call loungewear. Clothes for going out or work are 'pang alis'. They're usually maintained better (ironed, dry cleaned, etc).
I've always been a hand washer and so I am 100% with Jenna on this topic. I wash my hand every single time I walk into my home, no matter what I have been doing or what I've touched. I also have indoor & outdoor clothes, also a "habit" that I've been exercising for the last 20+ years. What have we learned from going through the pandemic? My god, many people were sanitizing EVERY. SINGLE. THING. So why go back to old habits when you know how easily and quickly germs spread?? Anyway, good luck out there everyone and do your best 😄
I had to teach my son we have outside shoes. He gets it now. You just can't wash enough for me. You don't understand how much body wash and had soap I go through in a month.
I am a housekeeper so every day I change my clothes. Always wash my hands after entering my home. Shower after all outdoor errands subway ride, grocery store, run, etc.
Outdoor clothes must be changes after a shower. Never sits on my couch with your subway clothes and yes, clean my couch, bathroom after guest leaves my home.
My mom always used to clean the bathroom after we had guests, which was often. People used to visit a lot back in the 70s and 80s. Usually, it entailed spraying copious amounts of
Lysol to the toilet seat, faucet, etc. Depending on who it was (someone she deemed especially icky or ill of health), she'd add a splash of bleach to the soapy water when washing the cups and utensils used. But how do you clean your couch? The only thing I can think of is to spray it liberally with isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry.
When my brother and I were kids, my mom would have us change into our "play clothes" when we got home from school so we wouldn't ruin our school clothes. And I still do this, as soon as I walk in the door change out of my clothes to get into something comfortable.
I did the same when I was a kid, and continue doing that now.
Me too
I absolutely agree with Jenna. I always wash my hands and change my clothes after being out. The clothes are definitely going in to the washer if I’m coming home after an air flight travel.
Take off your shoes, wash your hands, change your clothes if you r been sitting on shared public surfaces. Use hand sanitizer when you’re out, if you can’t wash your hands right away. I followed these rules & never had Covid.
That sounds exhausting
I am high risk and severely immunocompromised. I never wear my shoes in my home unless they’ve been cleaned. I wipe down my phone with alcohol prep. I take my clothes off and go straight to the shower. I wash my hands a hundred times a day. I also use hand sanitizer if washing isn’t available. Germs can be deadly for some.
I take my shoes off and spray the bottoms w/ alcohol and essential oils, wash my hands, take my clothes off and shower! If we have visitors, I mop and thoroughly clean when they leave! I still wipe all my groceries with disinfectant wipes too! We know now, whatever somebody else got, you can get, and I don't want none of it!!! Hoda's crazy! Love you but wash sis!!!
I immediately wash my hands when I walk in the door from grocery shopping.
Yes, absolutely.
Always change your clothes and wash your hands after being out. Full stop! Basic cleanliness 😅
Is it not basic hygiene to wash your hands regularly, especially after being away from the home?
Especially after we’ve been “trained” about the importance of hand washing with the pandemic.
@@Ago2904 yeah and I kind of take offence at Hoda using the word germaphobe. Its not about being a germaphobe, common sense, you know to help avoid illnesses and possibly hospitalization.
@@mayjune7890 completely agree! And not very helpful in terms of setting a good example in her role.
Since COVID has gotten me into the habit of washing my hands, when I come home, I've been doing it now.....
I always take a 2nd shower or bath when I get home from my job or from wherever I leave from. I always carry travel size hand sanitizer & cleansing wipes to clean my hands whenever I touch anything in public settings. I take multiple showers & baths & I change my clothing quite often when I have to run multiple errands in my life. I always set out multiple outfits ahead of time before I run my errands. I take off everything, let my professional work clothing and casual / everyday clothing air dry on hangers after I arrive back home. I toss anything I've worn in a day in the "dirty clothes" laundry, even if I don't wear it very long. My purses & wallets are always air dried as well. I wipe down my items in my purse with cleansing wipes including my phone & house keys. My socks, face masks & all undergarments are all washed right after I get home. I always wash my hands when I get home with antibacterial hand soap. I've been doing this personal routine for many, many years long before the pandemic.
I always change when I get home. I wash my hands immediately when I get home from the grocery store after touching that self check out screen I always change out of my clothes before I sit on my bed.
I'm with Jenna. We wash our hands when we get home from everywhere. When I bring my teenage grandson home from school, as soon as we are in the house - Punkin, wash your hands. When my husband comes home from work. He puts his stuff away and washes his hands. And we are not germaphobes.
Same with my family.
I thought it was normal behavior
@@javiruiz8365 It is!
I do this. So many germs that you don’t want spread around the house. It’s like people with dogs that let them jump on the furniture after walking outside.
Anytime I've been out n about and come home, 1st thing I do is wash my hands and then get outta those clothes into my comfy lounge wear
yes not only the germs but the feelings i had that day! the negativity and all
Rule number 1 in New York, never touch anything on the subway except yourself.
You can balance by widening your stance while standing. All New Yorkers can do it.
And yeah, change clothes when you get home if you sat down.
I work in a grocery store and I would change my clothes when I get home because people come in grocery stores sick
I agree with jenna
Ummmm where is Hoda from??? I always change out of my clothes when I return home😳Did she really say that she doesn’t wash her hands??? Anytime you touch food, you’re supposed to wash your hands🤦🏽♀️Chile….The fact that this conversation is happening after we just went thru 2020 is baffling
I wouldn't ever eat anything she's prepared after finding out her hygiene habits, or lack thereof, that's for sure.
@@KatarinaS. Right! And I think Jenna was sitting up there thinking the same thing. Like…ma’am!!!🥴😮💨
@@Lavi_407 Yes. It's just common sense to me, something I've done all my life, long before the pandemic but especially since. I can't imagine coming home and not washing up and changing. I've always really liked Hoda, too, she's quite amiable and seems so sensible otherwise. I found it so weird, I thought she was kidding at first.
@@KatarinaS. Me too! I couldn’t even go in the kitchen growing up without washing my hands as soon as I came home from school! Hoda was so adamant about it I thought she was joking😩 Especially when she said she eats without washing her hands🤦🏽♀️Wow..this is why my mama always told me not to participate at work potlucks.…you just never know😮💨
I can’t believe that woman takes the subway and doesn’t wash her hands when she gets home! She would be shocked at how often I wash my hands
I agree with Jenna completely.
I definitely change my clothes when I get home. I take a shower and change my clothes every time. I can't feel comfortable doing anything else at home until I do.
I change when I get home because it represents a change in environment and head space. During COVID, once my work from home day was done, I would change to mark that transition. As for washing hands when you come in…duh!!!
Smart!
Everybody talking about washing their hands but if you don’t disinfect your phone too it’s all pointless
i do change right away even before COVID-19 came: reason, you don't want the dust, smell or dirt stuck in the dress be transferred all around your house or people in the house
I wash my hands after touching every door knob in my house. Even though I wipe down every door knob with disinfecting wipes regularly.
Yes. I change my clothes whenever I've been to a busy public place. "Public ick" aside, my home clothes are just more comfortable so if I am not walking right back out, I am for sure changing into home clothes. I absolutely wash my hands every single time I walk in the door, regardless of where I've been, though. It's just a natural part of the routine--I set my purse and keys down, take my shoes off, hang my coat up, and step into the bathroom to wash my hands. It's not germaphobia, it's basic hygiene that takes less than a minute and has been muscle memory for the last 40 years of my life.
Especially when you have young kids or elderly in your home, certain safeguards go a long way.
I wash my hands every time I come home from any public place. I also change my clothes once I get home from any public place. I have clothes that I only wear inside my home.
I don’t like seeing medical staff in scrubs at the grocery store!
They're probably just picking up a few things before they go home. Once they get home, they change their clothes. The grocery store is full of germs anyway.
@@jenniferhansen3622 "My cucumber is bigger..." - Otter, "Animal House" ;-)
There's the scrubs you wear while working, and clean travel scrubs (coming and going from work). I understand if nurses don't want to bring their personal clothes to the hospital.
@@seanscommentary That's what I was thinking. I have a good friend who's a nurse. She wears clean scrubs to and from work. When she's at work she wears different scrubs that, of course, she doesn't wear home.
We work 12 hr shifts usually 7-7:30 or 8. So when u see us at the grocery early in the morning or late at night, we are picking up groceries after shift before going home. We do have clean hands all the time cuz we wash and alcohol like crazy😂
There you go, two years of masks, gloves, social distancing , sanitizers, etc and we've forgotten? It's your thing, do what you want to do.
oh no HODA! shower, and change clothes daily before i go make dinner daily!
Physician here. I don’t wash my hands or change my clothes when I come home, not even during the pandemic and I’ve never gotten Covid. I wash my hands before eating, touching my face, touching a patient and after going to bathroom, touching a patient or visibly contaminated surface. The surfaces in your home are contaminated already! I wash my hands over 50 times a day but not when I get home.
Doesn't mean you're right - physician or not!
Yes, always, keeps the couch clean. Also take off the shoes! I always wash my hands, sanitize my phone and anything that is brought into the house. I also wear hoodies at theaters so my hair doesn’t touch anything lol Haven’t gotten sick but 1 time in 5 years and that 1 time was when my mom was visiting and she doesn’t take germs seriously and I forgot to wipe down everything she touched lol
After working in the food and beverage industry, I change my clothes because of the smell or food on my clothes.
I literally wash my hands the moon I get home.. I work in housekeeping
Have a great day NBC... Love you Jenna and thank you 💗
Team Jenna
I always wore hospital provided scrubs so I changed back into my street clothes before I left work. I did not need to change again when I got home ten minutes later. As an RN I wash my hands all the time but definitely whenever I get home after errands.
Jenna is not wrong!
I work for an exterminator and I change my clothes when I return home every time. Why? Bedbugs. Their nickname is the hitchhikers. Doctors offices, movie theaters and even someone brushing past you in the store. If they have an infestation in their home the bedbugs can be on their clothing. Also, never throw your outside clothes on your furniture, bed, etc. change in bathroom and put in hamper. Oh and hospitals are notorious for bedbugs. So if you end up in the ER or stayed in hospital, as soon as you get home remove those clothes!! Not only do I work for an exterminator I also, unfortunately, have dealt with two bedbug infestations for family members. It’s a horrible thing to deal with.
Wash my hands first, change my clothes, put on house clothes. Never share a bag of chips, nuts or other snacks. Get a bowl and serve yourself your portion.
Do yourselves a big favor. Thoroughly wash your hands the moment you walk in the door
i change people wipe things on seats spit on the sidewalk cough into the air 🤢I agree with Jenna
it amazes me that people don't wash their hair after a work out. I can see going home, washing your body and not hair if you need to head back out but, that night you better wash your hair. My nail lady said so many people come in with dirty feet. I know people who go to wax place for a Brazilian
after work, that is not ok
It amazes me that anyone would...You're not even supposed to wash your hair every day as it damages it. I wash my hair about three times a week. Besides the fact that it's better for the hair, my hair is very thick and curly and takes an hour to dry with a hair dryer. I prefer to wash in the morning, but I work from home so I guess the point is moot.
Not germa phobes…it is basic hygiene now. People are not as naive as we used to be. Think how much you are exposed to just from a public bathroom…I wash my hands when I get home and shower before bed every night.
i agree with jenna totally
i wash my hands soon as i get home
i also have specials outfits for when i go out.
people are just nasty
I wash my hands and toddler’s hands as soon as we come home 🤷♀️
I do keep hand sanitizer on my purse most of the time.
And I wear long soft pants on a plane, so my legs don't touch the seat.
Yes! First thing I do after putting my purse and keys away. Change out of my clothes, wash my hands. If i’m really on point I’ll wash my face too.
If you work with kids and don't change clothes, expect to get sick and be sick all the time. Thank God for the mama who taught me to change right after work.
That's a good to me and my mom.
Before the pandemic, i never touch public surfaces with my bare hands. Always paper towels in my pockets.
I put my coat over my plane seat, so my hair don't touch the headrest. I was my travel clothes as soon as I returned home in hot water
I take off my shoes, wash my hands and change my clothes. Wash my hands again. Too much stuff out there that I don’t want to bring into my home.
I’m with Jenna.
This was a great debate without getting crazy.
I love those delta cookies so much my flight attentant gave me a whole sleeve of cookies to take home wow i have 1 everyday love you delta airlines
Who would I rather hang out with? Hoda, hands down. Jenna clearly sees other humans as pathogens.
💯 yes!
Girls, I’m sorry to mention it but most guys do not wash their hands after going to the bathroom. As someone who always washes theirs it is quite repulsive just how many more men I’ve noticed continue to not do so. Just let that sink in….
I wash my hands when I go to the bathroom or doing a dirty project. I don’t care otherwise and I don’t change my clothes, until I’ve worked out and am sweaty. I change when I get home from church. I’m not on enough planes for it to matter. When the flight ends, I go to the bathroom and wash my hands. End of story. I’m not dead or sick, much. No one in my home or life is worse for the ware.
TEAM JENNA
I like to schedule my return flight im the AM so when I get home I immediately unload my suitcase and rhe outfit I'm wearing into the washing machine, then I take a shower while the clothes are washing, and transfer them into the dryer once I'm done 😊
The subway is filthy!
Absolutely
Hoda rethinking washing your hands
Pleasev
I wash my hands every single time I come in to my house! Even if it’s just to get the mail it’s just automatic. I wash my hands a lot.
I change clothes if I’m uncomfortable or sweaty. I’m with Hoda otherwise lol.
I change out of my shoes first.
I don’t put my head on the back of any public seat
I get nasty cell phone screen gunk on my phone from swiping all day. Wash my hands when I get home than pick up my phone and regerm my hands. 😄
Absolutely off with the work clothes and bra as soon as I'm in the door!
Omg!!! Yes, wash your hands but if you REALLY think about everything is touched and contaminated. She is afraid of touching poles but what about pets like dogs who will lick, sniff and eve try to eat anything where the owner is unaware of it too…that is a scenario's as well. Leave your shoes outside when you return but most importantly wash YOUR hands ESP before you eat.
My gorgeous 🥰😍 queen Jenna 💞💞🤩💞🤩💞
Jenna was right 😊
100% you change clothes when you get home. But first, you take off your bra. That thing doesn’t go back on until morning.
Oh yeah...Out of my office dress and into my jammies (if i'm in for the night) - oh so comfy...:)
Just curious, which household has more common illnesses, Hoda's or Jenna's? I'm more in Hoda's camp and we or our kids (who are now 50ish) were/are rarely sick. My germaphobic sister in laws household was always sick and their adult children all suffer from different autoimmune disorders. Just an observation, not a judgement.
Yup. I only wash my hands after I do something dirty (ie if I just used the restroom or touched a public door). I never get sick. A balance needs to be struck between being hygienic and being a germaphobe. Some people in this comments section are a little over the top, in my opinion.
I agree . The family that used tons of chemicals had the sickest kids all the time. I am stunned by how paranoid a lot of people are on here with constant changing of clothes etc
heck yes, gross As soon as I get in, shoes off and I wash my hands and feet if I had on flip flops or sandals . Outside clothes come off if you were out and sat on anything or got the least sweaty. If were on a plane definite shower when you get home. Anything you do in the kitchen wash your hands beforehand. No outside clothes on the bed for sure. I am a germaphobe though
Hoda doesn't consider any type of hygiene if it isn't a daily shower
Hoda.. grose.. how are you and your family not getting sick all of the time? Yes, germs on clothes are not harmful, but hands, yes!! Did Covid not teach you anything!?
Like these to ever ride a bus or a subway. Please?
Yes. Do not wear clothes at home.
When it starts smelling s**t I shower. (also goes for change of boxer) I can also sense the bacterial "layer" (protection) coming off after shower, which is not good!
If something itches too much I'll hold out! 😅 I've sorta grown fond of that layer of protection dirt and s**te gives ya.
(I'm savin' money so) same 4 boxers since 22'!
Look I come home from work change my clothes and don’t wash my hands immediately until have to go to the bathroom or eat which is usually within 5 minutes after coming home. So… there’s no excuse 😂
Gross Hoda. I'm totally with Jenna on this. I'm shocked this is even a conversation. It seems like common sense.
It's Biscoff not Biscotti. Totally different snack
After washing my hands, my bra is the first thing off, along with any tight waistbands!
The bras first thing off.
I come Home from being out in Public I take Clothes off and Shower asap tyvm
I love Hoda!😂
I never thought about this before, but from now on, I will. Think about it I mean.
Must be a rough news day!
Not at all. It's a worthy topic. Not everything has to be about human suffering and pain. Lighten up!
@@Person-mh6xq I agree and respect your opinion. I don't want to hear about pain and suffering every day, but I've heard this topic many times just thinking I'd rather hear something else.
