Despite the issues it's still a respectable F/A18. I would suggest checking out the Flory Promodeller washes as they are water based and pretty forgiving to use.

Thanks I appreciate that. All a learning curve - definitely didn't repeat this error in my latest build. Thanks for the tip I'll definitely check that out 👍

How does the canopy work? I just got this and I can’t figure it out! Is there a section in the video I missed?

It's a bit too dark, don't U think? I made the same kit back in 1994 or 95 but a D two seater variant. It survived for 20 something years but then the kids happened that finally broke into my glass showcase cabinet few months back and FUBARed most of my assembled kits. I believe I'll get them into scale modelling once they get a bit older by redoing all of my models one day. I'll tell you anytime, it's a better hobby than a PS5.

Thanks for the comment. Yep, way too dark. I used a colour conversation chart which proved to be completely inaccurate. I'd ruined the model in other was so didn't really matter in the end. Sorry to hear about yours : ( but sounds like you've got a fun few years ahead building new ones with the kids

I also have buy this kit. Is terrible, terrible cockpit, terrible fit, raised and wrong panel lines..i used it only for weathering test and to bring parts for other kits.
You do a good work..but if you want to build a good 1/72 Hornet, buy the Hasegawa or the very good Academy. I have:
    2 Hobbyboss F-18C
    1 Hasegawa F-18C
    1 Hasegawa F-18E
    2 Academy F-18E
    1 Academy F-18F
Academy is the best F-18 1/72 kit.
Perfect and very easy fit (you can build without glue, if you want..), perfect negative lines (with a lot of rivets hole) and very good Cartograf decals.
Also the Hasegawa is very good.

Well....... as a fellow modeler, I feel you pains (painTs). You're not the only one that has had this kind of issue, and as you mentioned, "...make a few rookie errors.." which I have done also .....Even with my builds of ships!
Just curious, as to Which online forum did you go to, OR if you want you can go to my channel and drop off in "Discussion".
Don't get too bum out.... I Sure you'll do a 'better job' the next time.

Hey thanks for watching. I can't remember now which forum I used. I usually use BritModeller if I need any advice so it was likely that

@@therealdrimdrady5614 'BritModeller' is usually good in their advice... many good modelers there. There are times the paint comes out Too dark for the scale so they cut down the shade 10%... say you use "Dark Ghost Grey" , then add nine (9) drops of paint + one (1) drop of white. TRY IT OUT 1st, use the plane that you have and get another.
Sometimes, though, it could be brand of paint...... they are All so different in pigment. Use this site: www.modelshade.com/
It could give you a better idea of what shade paint to use, but try not to go TOO Far out-of-da-way in obtaining 'That' paint if you can get it fine, if not, just do your best estimated substitution.
And Remember..... Its suppose to be fun! And we modelers try our best to get it right!! Good Luck!
