- This router has it all! WireGaurd Server and Client capabilities, Dual 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, it can be an access point, repeater; it's got open source software for the OS. It's power efficient, doesn't get too hot. The WiFi can be incredibly fast on the 5GHz DFS channels. I'm just overall impress with this thing. Very cool entry into the networking world.

Thanks for doing the power conspumption test! Been looking for this information.
The best Synology routers killer out there, and the open source openwrt is the cherry on top of the cake. This should be the home routers to have.
This is definitely a great home router option. Iâd recommend this to pretty much anyone including tech nerds.
@@SPXLabs I even have forgot those 2 x 2.5GB ports, you buy a cheap a 2.5GB switch and bang, you can have the hole house with not only wifi6 but 2.5GB LAN allover the house, everything including the switch below 250 USD, thats impressive.
Yes it really is!
Your production values have really gone up. Great picture. Background pleasing to the eyes. Keep up the good work.
Awww thank you. I figure after nearly 10 years I should try a little harder than usual lol
Love me some GLinet travel routers and all their other SKU's are equally awesome for the price.
As this is my introduction to them, I can only imagine how well current owners have been treated. Price is great too
I have the original Flint 1 and it's a fantastic piece of equipment. Supplies WiFi to entire house. No issues with streaming multiple devices. It's basically rock solid. I'm def going to grab this Flint 2 when I come acrosst a few spare shekels
Nice! I bet a flint 3 is already in the works, just save for that one maybe?
You went into some great detail, thank you! This looks like a cool option for someone like me who wants to tinker and control more advanced settings but only lives in a 1BR apartment.
The crazy part is, I didnât even show off the âAdvancedâ pages. There is an entire other section with even more nitty gritty settings lol
@@SPXLabs After seeing what they did with the settings on their Beryl travel router, I'm not surprised ð
They're building in that nice spot between entry level commodity hardware and expensive overkill for the prosumers. Love it.
@tylerrobb yeah this is nestled in a very good spot. If I didnât have my lab and stuff that I have today, I think this would be the router I owned. Itâs pretty sick
Well done! Interesting Router, I have used OpenWRT long ago IIRC it worked very well.
Itâs been nearly a decade since I last used openwrt. It worked great back then and Iâm impressed with it now.
I've not seen one of these in the wild yet, looks nice!
Iâve never heard of it until about a month or so ago.
Great review. Seems like a nice router. I like that the second 2.5 gbe port can be assigned to LAN.
That was a good idea on their part glad they didnât skip out on it
Great router, picked one up not long ago and couldn't be happier!
Yup very interested to see what the future holds for them
Glad it did you good! You can totally take it apart by the way!
Itâs too late now
Great video, this might be compatible with SmoothWan for internet bonding too
I have the OG Flint, worked really well. The AP performance was fantastic, but I didn't like the software on it. I needed something like Omada for my needs, which is what I switched to. But when I move out of my house somewhat soon, I'll put the Flint back because for simple home use it was fantastic.
Oh interesting! Thatâs funny because I feel the opposite, I like this more than Omada because itâs simple and then they have the advanced pages for more nitty gritty activity. Maybe the old software is different?
@@SPXLabs For a long time, I couldn't get the OpenVPN working when the early V4 of the Glinet firmware was released. That bug finally got fixed, but I've just never liked OpenWrt. But, I have one at work that runs my production network for live lighting and sound, and it's rock solid! Fantastic AP performance
Do you have any results on the speed while tethering or in repeater mode? My old GL-AR750 doesn't have the best hardware so I think I'm loosing bandwidth from it, but I wanted to know how this one was.
I do not. I donât believe iPhone will allow tethering and if it did my speeds would be abysmal. Like 5Mbps tops.
Why these routers still using old school power connector and not USB-C ones?
Man thatâs a good question especially given how little power it uses.
The stock OS, although based on OpenWRT, is not open source. Vanilla OpenWRT build for it is available though.
Oops. Thanks for that. I'll be a bit more careful next time with my words and research.
Actual FIRST !!!
Thatâs your truth honey. So donât be afraid to tell us
I am actually in the market for a wifi 6 home router
You should make this a contender. There is another page for more advanced settings if you are a tinkerer. Otherwise the main pages are simplified for ease of use and setup
Does this router support V2RAY?
It should so long as you have all the correct adapters for your SIM to USB.
First :)
You were!
This seems too good to be true. If you compare to regular routers..
Surprised me too
what the hell is 2.5 ghz wifi?
lol oops. Idk why I have been saying that
@@SPXLabs also in the table sheet.
@sobaannaseer7155 whelp, nothing I can do about it now. Not sure how I got that in my head
mikrotik?
Iâve never touched one before
Wi-Fi on this router is unusable , keep freezing in the middle of page loading, seems like its GL.INet common issue
Strange, it worked great in our testing and is still working fine. What all services and other things have you enabled?
@@SPXLabs I have activated Adguard Home, a WireGuard server, and both 5G and 2.4G Wi-Fi networks.
Running on Version 4.5.6
The issue persists even after Adguard is disabled
Wow thatâs very odd. Sorry man.
Dang it, I was hoping to be the fifth commenter
Maybe you should try and be the sweetest commenter?
@@SPXLabs Nah...........do some more Unraid stuff why don't you
Maybe I should install Unraid on the router?
@@SPXLabs Yeah you should. Tell it who's boss...It has a USB Port....sounds like a fun project
I received the #glinet #mt6000, and I am very disappointed, the wifi is unstable, my speed varies between 300mb/s and 650mb/s with the same device and at the same distance, support response "go see a link on the wifi in real world", the joke a link that treats more than up to the AC. Donât buy this fake router.
Interesting. It has been working great for me. While there is some variability itâs pretty tight. Not as wide as yours. I wonder why yours is so drastic. Wish I could help. SorryâĶ.
