I own a pair of five ten "freerider" flats and "hellcat" clipless shoes, and approve of both! The build quality is impressive, they are the shoe I'll most likely stick with for the rest of my riding days. Good luck selling them!
So I ordered a pair of women’s FiveTens and here is what happened. I ordered my usual size per my husband’s recommendation. The shoes came and all I did was complain that they were super uncomfortable and too big in size and puffiness. I ordered down a half size and the shoes fit great, were super comfortable and way less puffy. I noticed that the fabric color was different on the insides so I decided to look at the tongues. Turned out the first pair that I hated and complained about were “Adidas” and the pair I loved we’re original FiveTens. My husband said well that makes sense then. I didn’t order from FiveTen directly so it was just luck of the draw the shoe I got was what was in stock. I’m just glad I scored an OG :)
Krystal G So, while they bought the company in 2011, they pretty much left 5.10 alone until January of 2018. That’s when the products started changing.

No, FiveTen has made some of the best mtb shoes out there, Adidas has had NOTHING to do with that. They just bought Fiveten, and since, i have seen A LOT of quality complaints. I still have pre adidas ones, but i am not sure that i will get them again, because of the increase in complaints i have seen.
Wheb exactly did Adidas take over? I bought a pair of five ten flats and clipless last year, they're bomber quality so far and I've put over 700 miles on them.
Adidas bought Five Ten back in 2011, so they've owned them for 8 to 9 years already. There has been some growing pains, as they've changed some vendors/suppliers, but overall and especially recently, they've really started to make some improvements. Its needed as the competition is heating up, especially in the flat pedal market.
I loved my freeriders and when they were done replaced them with the same model then sent them back because the soles were coming apart before i even wore them. Now im in etnies marana midcranks and lovin them

As I usually ride clipless pedals. I use the Five Ten Kestrel Lace shoes. I also sometime use flat pedals. For those I use the Five Ten Freerider with the beige sole.
One good question could be : Why they are reducing the durability on the sole, they called SCHEDULED OBSOLESCENCE. Meaning more sells but caring less and less for our only one planet...very smart people!

The stiffness of the freerider flats is fantastic. Don't know precisely when Adidas took over, but I bought them towards the end of last year. They are a tried and true shoe company.

Come on 5 Ten... Drop those gortex version of the new Trailcross Mids for those of us riding on the East Coast with a lot of stream crossings in our rides!!
Im bummed that the Trailcross uses Phantom rubber instead of S1. Freeriders fit like ass for me, my foot slides around because theyre too wide (almost fell off the side of a rock face because my foot slid and got awkwardly bunched up making my ankle roll) and my calves end up hurting after short bits of hiking because the insole is so flat. The Trailcross shoes fit and feel massively better than Freeriders but the rubber just isnt good enough.

What a bullshit video! Has nothing to do with 5/10 really, which is where the stealth sole come from, which was very much appreciated by MTBers. Not sure if Adidas has added anything to the shoes? I have owned (and own) 3 pairs of the "Impact Low" models, which all failed miserably because of the foam midsole, which simply disintegrates. Having the iconic stealth sole, as well as a very solid upper shoe, it is such a shame that a shoe manufacturer could make such an idiotic mistake. Confronting customer service, they don't even acknowledge making the shoe, much less offering replacement or suggestions on how to repair them. Very, very disappointing ! I am not done with them, I will continue to follow up with pictures and remarks.

The most mtb shoes in the market are ungly and cost too much for nothing...is not only my state here ...is of the most people i ride.
Why don't they call them Fifteen?
Because they are five hundred and ten
Not as catchy as five ten
It used to be a leading climbing shoe brand, hence the naming after a climbing grade.
CRC doesn’t even sell 5 10 anymore so why are they even making a video?
