$282 seems like a great price, for a nice room, 2 nights accommodations, 5 meals and transportation to Hokkaido. The room looks cozy, and has everything I would want, specifically a private bathroom and a window. The Royal Suite is much nicer, but that's why it's more expensive. I'd love to visit Japan, if nothing more than to take one of these ferry trips!
You know what ? It's been 2 years since I traveled. I am always at my home because of health problem. And your videos always make me happy and I can see new things
In the winter of 1983 I was a sailor aboard the USS Enterprise when we sailed across the Tsugaru Straits. I was off watch then and went up to look along one of the walkways along the side of the ship. I was there for a long time. Something was very mesmerizing about it. The way the waves randomly crashed into one another and yet there was a certain rhythm to the randomness. The sea felt very electrifying, very alive. I was aboard the Enterprise for four years and did three deployments on that ship, traveling all over the world. During that time I remember only two areas where the seas were so unique. One was north of Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean where the sea was as still as glass. And the other area was the Tsugaru Straits. Thank you for showing that. It brought back good memories.
That style of couch you had in your cabin is sometimes called a "day bed" in America, and it usually serves a triple purpose. You can use it as a couch, you can use it as a bed for a nap in the mid day, or it can be a guest bed if you have company over.
The couch material looks like ‘pleather’ (a cheap version of leather). If it is, you can also slide off it or get stuck to it depending on the weather and humidity. 😆😜
OMG I had a really bad day and I am so happy that this just popped up. Your videos always calm me and relax me. They are incredibly cathartic. Thank you so much.
The departure music is "Sobre las olas (Over the waves)" by the Mexican composer Juventino Rosas. The tune had words added and became "The Loveliest Night of the Year" in the movie "The Great Caruso", later recorded by Mario Lanza. An enterprising travel agent would market this as a 'mini cruise', not just a ferry trip. That couch could have been used as a bed for a pack of kids! I hope you took a pair of gloves with you.
@Robbie Henry - Wow. Knowing the backstory of Loveliest Night/Sobre las olas is impressive, and to also know how this was marketed in the past. 🤩😀 Do you work in one of those industries? (I don’t mean to be rude or pry and if asking that question is rude or prying, please don’t answer. I completely understand. 😇)
@@flu77erluv Your question is not a rude one. I will be celebrating my 80th birthday in a few days, so when you do the maths, you will realise that this is the music I grew up with. It was our 'pop music'. Then there are the reference books I have which remind me of the small details. In this case I knew the title 'Sobre las olas' but I needed help to remember the composer's name and the film it was reworked for. I hope that answers your question.
@@roboftherock Wow and yes! Thank you so much and Happy 80th Birthday! 🎉🎈🎁 I am curious: did ‘people’ consider the pop music of your time to be bad or to graphic? Looks like soft white light bulbs are used instead of bright white. Couch is that of a "Day bed" in U.S. and can be used as a regular bed too😊. Nice room.
Quite a 40 hour voyage. Glad your meals were included in the price of your room. All in all, it reminded me of an ocean cruise. Not a lot to do except eat. I remember the green frog under the piano from a previous journey with you . . . I referred to him as Kermit. Wherever you take us on the next adventure, I'm good to go. Take care, be safe.
The restaurant must be mounted on top of the engines for your tofu to be so scared. The ship was nice and though you may not have been very impressed with the suite, it was much better than many hotel rooms that tourists pay a lot more for. And that forward facing window was really good too. Thank you for the video. One day I really must try Japanese food, preferably in a restaurant that's not shaking.
I absolutely love your videos! Ever since I started watching a few months ago I so desperately want to travel to Japan to experience the buses, ferries, and capsule hotels! These videos calm me and put me at ease! Thank you so much!
Such a beautiful suite! Love the color combination of the furniture, curtains and bedding. That beautiful, painted Japanese cherry blossoms sink in the bathroom is something I need! Always enjoy your ferry trips!💕😎
I really need to try Japanese cuisine. There's a Japanese restaurant 2 miles from my house which I've yet to try. The food in STJ's videos always look great. The only Japanese food I've tried is seaweed, and I loved it.
I do like the layout of the Semi-suite. The couch is interesting for the room and it did surprised me. The room looks cozy just like the rest of the rooms you have shown in the past and the food still looks tasty and fantastic. Looking forward to more adventures with you and the introduction of different traveling and food of Japan. Thank you, Solo-san, from all the way from Canada. 🇨🇦
I really liked this semi suit. The ambiance was lovely. Travel with food included actually seemed reasonable. How were the beds? Were they as comfortable as the Ishikari? Thank you solo San for taking us along. All the best … and happy trails.
Ooo, the semi-suite! Good for making cookies with! That chair in the room is called a chaise lounge, or a fainting couch, as back in the day of corsets, ladies would frequently be unable to draw in enough breath, and would faint, so they'd be laid out on that couch until they regained consciousness.
Ah what a nice and relaxing journey! Thank you for sharing your travels with us. After a rough day (or week or month or year), this is so nice to find waiting for me.
In 1995 I took the Shinkansen to Northern Honshu, and I went by train under the sea tunnel. I made it to Hakodate, but didn't make it to Sapporo. I would love to go back to Japan and do Hokkaido for a month, and a ferry trip around Okinawa.
What a creepy departure sound!!! And with the weird couch, the wine glasses and the suggestive painting over the bed, I think you might have gotten the honeymoon suite lol!!Great video!
Very nice video! And ending up in the snow! I had a solemn feeling when you went past Fukushima and into Sendai.....Much respect to you and your beautiful nation!
Very interesting. I feel Kiso is the oldest of the three ships style-wise, and looks nice, despite being a bit more worn compared to the other two. Also, it's adorable how you like saying hi to all the other ships you've travelled on, like old friends.🥰
"TV too small- spent too much on the couch!" You have the best jokes out of all the Japanese Travel channels I'm subscribed to. Very nice couches in the movie theater- I've never seen that before. I love the food tours of your trays, you have such a good appetite!
I love this ship and the design being subdued colors in the cabin. I think it would be nice to take a grandchild to get a "taste" of your culture. With a small land tour also. It would all be new to us as Americans. Dream on Yankee (to myself)!

Hi, my friend😉🙋♀️. "the couch"... I like it🙈. When I watch your videos, I'll be hungry... 😂. Thx a lot. Greets from Germany. Waiting for your next video 😊🙏
I looked at both videos on your suggestion and i think the other suite is more suitable for travelling in comfort. I liked the layout better, and even though you got a daybed in the deal it was of no practical use to the suite. It would have made room for a better dining table with at least 2 chairs for you to enjoy whomever you were travelling with. It was a useless waste of space. I liked the bathroom layout, similar to the other suite, but for my money i would book the other suite in the future for any trip i might take. Great video for us to enjoy the experience with you - thaniks
A large sofa, such as you had in your semi-suite, is called a "divan." I think having the toilet and bathtub in their own separate rooms is a good idea for privacy, if there are more than one person in the room. Having a hard mattress is not pleasant. But I still would prefer this semi-suite cabin to a capsule.
