These Harbaughs as well as their OC in Baltimore are playing video-game football, where they think that eventually, the game will give them what they want if they only shout at the screen while toggling their joysticks harder.
It's also the way every coach in this new generation plays. McDaniel going on 4th down instead of going two scores up in Miami's last game thinks the video game will reward his gutsy play-calling. The Raiders went for a 2-point conversion over a tie & lost that way. Etc., etc.
When you play video game football & lose, you simply play again, do the same thing & eventually it will succeed. These guys only remember these successes, not the whatever number of failures beforehand & think this applies to real life.
