  • In this video from November of 1992, we see the new R110A's leaving the New York Transit Museum in Brooklyn after being on display along with its' IND sister cars, the R110B. The cars are seen being towed by diesel locomotives to 207th Yard, even though they were capable of operating under their own power. When they were in service, they operated on the '2' Seventh Ave. line. These cars were the prototypes for the present-day R142/A subway cars. THE CONSIST: Seen here are cars 8006-8007-8008-8009-8010. The other unit of five cars were numbered 8001-8002-8003-8004-8005.

    I remember Riding a R110 from West 4th street to Far Rockaway on the "A" train line.
    At the time everyone loved them but looking back I will always hate the design that makes all the new trains red L.E.D. on the front, killing the color scheme subway system essentially.

    Before open gangway cars arrive the mta should test the open gangway with the r200a and r200b.

      @TheRailLeaguer 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @TheRailLeaguer
      @TheRailLeaguer 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      An2nio Productions With open gangways, you won’t even hear the crying baby.
      Plus it’s safer and also allows for increased capacity on some of the busier lines.

    • @TheRailLeaguer
      @TheRailLeaguer 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      An2nio Productions Bad smells will NOT affect all the cars under the open gangway option. It will affect one and a half to two cars at most.
      In addition to that, the homeless problem is not as bad as people claim. Yes there’s a homeless person on the trains every once-in-while, but it’s not a MAJOR deal, nor is it big enough to not pursue open gangway cars, which are used by other cities with similar problems New York is facing.

    • @TheRailLeaguer
      @TheRailLeaguer 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      An2nio Productions That won’t happen. Homelessness is not a big problem.
      But I believe there is a compromise for the open gangways. I believe that we can implement the open gangways, but each end will have what I call “fire” doors that are set to the locked position by default. They will be controlled by only one means: train crew controls. The handles will be invisible in the open position. This way we can have open gangways plus the 10% increase in capacity every New Yorker is yearning for, while allowing for the train crews to close off cars if AND ONLY IF they need to (ex. All doors malfunction in the second car. Crew is alerted, Road Car inspector comes in and assesses the situation. If the doors can’t be repaired on the spot, then the RCI tells the crew to presses some buttons on the console to enable the fire doors to the second car to close. Everyone is directed onto the rest of the train and the train gets on its merry way to the end of the line and to the yard. Once the issue is fixed, the crews activate the fire doors to return back to open position).
      Honestly, one homeless issue should not mean that we shouldn’t use open gangways for increase in capacity. Everyone in New York wants open gangways. They received positive praise when they had a mock-up of the open gangways in 2017. Did you even give any feedback about them at the mockups?

    • @wukichra

      Easy, goes to hoyt st (next stop) than reverses up the A line to 207th st, where there is a connection to the 1 line, back down to Manhattan and comes back up the 2 line from there. Alternatively he could from hoyt shoot up the F/D to Concorse yard where they have a connection to the 4 line and head to 138th I believe and reverse to the 2/5 from there. Several interconnections between the A and B division lines...

      Robert Wukich It is still way too complex. Luckily with my new Nassau-8th Avenue plan revisions, the World Trade Center E train platforms will no longer be used in service (E rerouted to Brooklyn). This means that the museum can relocate there, and also have a direct deadhead to the 207th Street Yards and the IRT Division.
