I had an idea: Instead of it being wind up, why not gravity powered? Like you have the same basic mechanism for gearing it up, but you have something like a capstan winch drum with string wrapped around it and a weight on one end. Maybe a bottle of water so you can vary the amount of weight by adding or removing water.

That's really great performance for a spring powered wind-up mechanism! Bravo

I wonder how a windup clock would fare. Or maybe a ceiling fan model

  • @joshbeutien

Only suggestion now is....use gravity . Lift a bag of dirt and let it fall to pull the "winding side" , also could power an l.e.d..

You can obviously still use the tape measure and the spring.

give a spring from a line trimmer a shot, also i have a feeling with the right gearing you might be able to get 30 mins on a wind

      @JMEMantzel  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yeah. I think 30 minutes is reasonable. ....I just might need smoother gears.
....and/or better bearings than skate ones....
I do have an idea for a planetary gear drive that might reduce friction, though...

Can you make a weighted plum bob on a chain type

Excellent! I envision a "wind saver" wind powered winder. Wound by the wind all day. play it back any time! =) Wind on demand. Haha! =)

You'll need a looong ass tape measure for that

You need to make a fan that is powered by gravity, put rocks or bucket of water under it

I'm wondering how long it took to wind it up?

  • @dontbe

the winding knob spun more than 200 times on the unwind.. do you have some gear reduction during winding?

Put a belt pulley on it then an outside tan can run an inside fan, a fan for a fan.

guitar tuners have a powered drill attachment that will wind it up for you in a few seconds

With all the sunshine and solar he has, I'm still not certain why he doesn't have at least a 12v electrical system to run fans and lights. This seems unnecessary.....

The only wine up fan I've ever heard of.. Was for a army tank.. Primarily used to exhaust the smoke Discharge after firing Is the large gun. It looks like you're inventing an amish toy..
