    Arkansas just replaced both muzzleloader seasons with "Alternate Firearms Seasons" that allow straighwall cartridges. The 2024 game & fish field guide specifically suggests 360 BH.

    The 360 Buckhammer will be around for more than 5 years, because there are enough guys who like single-shot and lever-action rifles for hunting, and are in the states you mentioned. I would point out, however, that Indiana does NOT have a "straight-walled" requirement for their deer rifle cartridges. In fact, on private land, you can use just about any common bottle-necked round, like a 30-'06, 6.5 Creedmoor or even a 375 H&H for deer hunting. It is only on public land that you must use a cartridge no longer than 1.800" in length, firing a bullet no smaller than .357" in diameter.

    Walmart sells the rifle, but only one choice of ammo. Remington 180 gr Core-Loct. I'd like to see a wider selection of ammunition, but I'll take what I can get. And they're selling them from Florida all the way up to Michigan. So as of right now, ammunition is readily available.

    I live in a state that doesn’t require a straight wall cartridge. But I do like the ballistics and I think it will be a good woods brush cartridge. The hard part is waiting for the gun to be shipped I have been waiting for two months now.

    Keep in mind that there are millions of us living in areas that now allow straight wall cartridges and have been using slug guns for decades. Just that market alone will not only keep the 360 BH successful, but I expect to see significant improvements in ballistics as new loads are developed. Also, as long as brass and bullets are available this caliber can go forever with reloading.

    360 BH operates at 50,000 PSI
    It is basically a modern straight walled 356 Winchester .
    Problem is , I’m not sure Marlin 336 or Rossi R95 can handle the pressure the 350BH produces
    I know that 356 Winchester was downloaded to operate in the 336 and Winchester actually made a different action for the 94 to handle the pressure..

    It’s a round created around laws . That fact alone likely means it is a compromise of some other parent case . Know nothing of the round but it looks 30/30ish.
    Wish we would stop wasting money on rounds to get around laws and use the money to get rid of the laws.

      360 Buckhammer is here to stay and is the .300 Blackout of the lever gun world. 5.56 case opened up to .300Blackout. 30/30 cartridge opened up to 360 Buckhammer and out preforms it's parent round at distance. In Arkansas the laws on muzzleloader hunts open us up to the 360buchammer being a excellent alternative hunting round for deer.

      38-55 does not meet the requirements and as far as 350 Legend goes, everyone I asked who has experience with both rounds say that 360 is the superior round. Don't know much about 375 Winchester, but it might also not meet the requirements for straight wall hunting states.

    These guys are full of shit 360 buckhammer was designed for straight wall cartridge states, and in the process of designing this, they made it out shoot and outperform ballistics wise the 30 30.. so with that said with better efficiency and better ballistics capability and another 5275 yards in killing range with the guns being pretty much identical, at least from Henry why in the hell would you want to stay with a 30 30 when you can improve range, bullet stability and killing power..??
    Basically you got a bunch of guys that have 3030s and they’re invested in ammo and stuff so they’re naturally going to down the 360 buckhammer but the 360 buckhammer has proved to be the king of the hill and I don’t even think they meant for it to do that they were just trying to fulfill a need in straight wall cartridge states which is another story but you get the point so 30 30 has been around for years and I say if you want 3030 then go ahead and use it there’s no need to change but if you go out and shoot 360 buckhammer 180 grain or 200 grain you are definitely going to be more impressed with the capabilities of the ballistics

  • @tripplebeards3427

    Yes because it’s a lipless lever action only case. The 35 rem at least can be chambered in a bolt and pump. Excellent try but it should have had a rim to be able to use in other configurations.

    • @redneckmini14
      @redneckmini14  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      When was the last time you saw 35 Remington chambered in a bolt action? That's a pretty poor argument.

      @@redneckmini14 I have a few in Remington 600's, a 760, and a couple in 7600's...and of course a lever 336. The point is the 35 rem is a rim less catridge. If they 360 buckhammer wasn't a rimmed cartrige is wouldn't be confined to lever guns and single shots. I wish they would have designed it in a rim less cartrige like the 450Bm. With a rim less cartrige you can at least use it in an AR, semi auto, bolt, pump, ect. I have to say I'm I'm big fan of the .358's. Have some whelen's as well.

    • @redneckmini14
      @redneckmini14  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@tripplebeards3427 You can still make a bolt action in a rimmed chambering. There are plenty of old bolt actions chambered in 7.62x54, 303 British, and other old, rimmed military rounds. If someone really wanted to make a bolt action 360 Buckhammer, it could be done, but most people want a round like that in a lever action. Think about it. How many people are asking for bolt action 30-30s or 45-70s? I would say little to none.

      6:38 we debate over for five years till the 360 buckhammer is obsolete.lol. You’re right though…I’ve owned and now long gone savage bolt gun chambered in 30-30. Accuracy and cycling was less than acceptable. I do like lever guns but there wasn't a big market for them until Marlin went belly up. Then all my $200 lever guns I had laying around I sold for $1200 plus dollars. Got rid of most of them. Unfortunately not everyone wants a lever gun. The lever hype imo is on the way oout. Everyone that wanted a discontinued marlin has about got their hands on one by now and Bubba'd into AR skeloned morphadite guns. Imo the nee shoes have worn off in the lever gun market. When the lever gun market gets soft again in the next few years the cartrige will die out. I'm hoping it won't being it might bring some new style .358 projectiles to market that I can load in my 35 rems and 35 whelens. I don't see that happening though. It's amazing how the 35 rem is basically obolite with a higher case capacity vs the "greatest new lever gun caliber" 360 buckammer. What's going to kill it off is stated like Iowa now let you shoot any cartrige from .350 to a .500 projectile. Can be bottle necked now. Went from shotgun only to straight wall to bottle neck with .350 plus projectiles. So I can use my 35 rem, 35 whelen, and 375 RUM! The new 450BM gun site scout scout still sitting in a the box will collect dust now.
