She is more interesting than Houellebecq, by far. She is courageous, humble. She stayed true to herself. She writes very well. She speaks very well about her writing process. And she stays away from the spotlight.

The other reason is because of the marketing power behind Houellebecq. Plus, I tend to prefer the human qualities of Annie Ernaux and her sensibility. Annie Ernaux is a writer. Houellebecq is a writer supported by a system. Of course, there is no need to compare 2 artists. Consider it as my personal preference.
