It’s the perfect brother / sister relationship.
Cream is Light. Shadow is Darkness. Shadow is a damage soul with plenty of pent up rage that he is constantly suppressing. Cream’s innocence resonates with that of Maria’s and through Cream, Shadow’s pain will be able to heal. In turn, Shadow can protect Cream from harm and perhaps even reach Cream and Cheese martial arts and perhaps even how to handle guns-all just for protective measures, of course, in case Shadow can’t protect them in time.
