- This historical location was an active farm from 1874 through 1957, owned by the Whitin family and Whitin Machine Works. In its time, the farm served as a local dairy farm, supplying milk to the mill, the workers, the local schools and hospital. In 1955 the land was purchased by the Garelick (Farms) family. The main barn was destroyed by a fire in 1957 ending the farm operations. The location is listed on the National Historic Register. Local historical groups note that this location has one of the “grandest stone walls in Massachusetts.”
