Thank you for covering the Fox News lawsuit, John! It has been hard to find a source that hasn’t been approaching from a biased perspective. Your analysis was great.
Let me be clear as a Black male. I did not want T’Challa to be recasted, at least not in the immediate. I know many other Blacks that felt the exact same way. The Blacks you mentioned aren’t the majority. Had to make that clear. Lastly you have to realize that this isn’t a real recast. To my knowledge it’s a variant of T’Challa that will be merged into the current multiverse. No different than Robert Downey being a variant of Doom.
Well, you don't know if they are the majority or not as you have not polled every black person on planet Earth about it. But it may feel like the majority to you which I will not argue with you on. That's you right to feel that way. You're a bit off base on the variant situation as Tony will go from good to evil. This would be a good to good situation so the variant will be replacing Chadwick hence the vibe that it is a recasting.
@ What I do know as Black Sci-Fi writer living in the Black community is that I have spoken with countless other Blacks about this as everyone knows Black Panther is a cultural phenomenon. You have a few Black (recasters) leave comments & now you think you know more than someone who writes Sci-Fi & lives in the Black community (typical). Whether I’m off about the variant or not is fine. Unlike you I don’t think I know every God D*mn thing! ✌🏾
@@RDK-l6r Hahaha!! There are just as many black fans who feel he needs to be recast as feel the way you do. I’m simply saying that both sides have their representatives and it’s tough to say with any certainty who has the majority. It’s not a hard concept.
@@EccentricKnight And as someone who has numerous black friends in the superhero pundit and comic book community, almost all of them think it’s time to recast. So LIKE I SAID, we’re all welcome to feel how we feel about it based on the people we surround ourselves with. But, again, you’re free to feel how you feel and I am free to disagree with you.
In regard to T’Challa being recast, they will more than likely give us a T’Challa from a different universe. It’s just easier that way and more respectful I think.
1:14:10 Ngl, it kinda hurts to hear that there was that much backtalking going on at Collider. I still have an admittedly naive point of view about the place just cause I grew up watching the channel constantly plus I just rewatched the Collider Behind the Scenes playlist and love the amount of fun y'all had in it. So hopefully it wasn't all backtalk all the time
Awful news coming out of LA. here in Canada wildfires are a sadly a very regular occurrence too. I imagine the Oscars will still go ahead in March, but it likely be a very sombre mood in the theatre, with many of those directly affected or close to those that are. I saw the oscar nominations have also been delayed by a few days and I guess the Ram playoff game will be moved to another city.
Cynthia Erivo is an excellent actress and I love her work, especially in the new Wicked film. With that said...her as Storm??? No. Who knows what they have planned for her and in what context, but I'll pass. Maybe DaWanda Wise??
Again, Awful news coming out of LA. I wonder what the impact what be on the the voting, given a large amonut of the academy members live or have worked in LA. Will they vote differently? I can see many finding comfort in escapism movies like Wicked or a comedy like Emilia Pérez , and maybe feel less towards a very bleak movie like the brutalist- could impact which movies and roles they end up voting for. For sure the ceremony will be a very different atmosphere than normal.
Tchalla has been around since the sixties. Christopher reeves became paralyzed. However, they never paralyzed the character Clark Kent/ Superman with reeves. They have Never withheld the character from being played by other actors. The same goes for batman. How many batman's have we had in recent years. It's still Bruce wayne batman. There's nothing wrong with someone else coming in and finishing where Chadwick left off. People fans want the character tchalla back, not a whole new character with his name. Spider-Mans, james Bond
@gerrigarrick and they shouldn't have buried and erased tchalla with Chadwick within the mcu or any other media. In mcu, you have gods, superhumans, AI's, cryogenic freezing, multiverse, aliens, magic, and there wasn't any way to save him. Mcu, based on Marvel comics where tchalla has died and came back. @@Dirty_joker495yes they do have all of those means of resurrecting, but since they chose to bury him, it still feels disrespectful IMO to use another actor since Chadwick passed. Thanks for the show
What about all the qualified, credentialed women who no doubt lost job opportunities because of women like Taylor?
DAVID JONSSON IS the correct answer! Love the shows! Thoughts are with Winston & everyone out West.
Thanks!!

Damson Idris for T'Challa!!!!! Make it happen!!
Regé-Jean Page is able to carry off a regal air and is a good actor and Damson Idris maybe
Malachi Kirby. British actor who played Kunta Kinte in The Roots remake. He was also in Black Mirror.
Good show, John
Hoping for the safety of Winston and everyone in and around the LA area.

I wonder if the "young" actor was David Jonnson.
Ok, obviously I posted this before getting to the 36 minute mark of the show 🤣
T'Challa should've been recast from the get go. That being said, I thought the trailer for Wakanda Forever was effing incredible and moving.
Marvel was in a tough place. Chadwick passed 2020, WF came out 2022. Understandable too soon to recast.
Damson & John Boyega are both from Nigerian families, both born here in south London. So they can tap into the accent.

How about Eli Goree, from One Night in Miami, and The Peripheral for T'Challa. Stephan James from Beacon 23 and Race is a good option as well.
John, your flippant casual attitude about Taylor sleeping her way to the top is impractical, and not helpful to women
The tequila has been spilt.
John Boyega for Black Panther; what are your thoughtS?

But they did recast Black Panther. And to recast t'challa esp. now after they laid his character to rest doesn't feel right to me.
Had to stop listening on the podcast version - the ad placement and frequency was unusually jarring

Ps yes the only thing that seems to honor the character well is to have his son take up the mantle. Otherwise a recast seems disrespectful.
